ACE. You're not fit to... drive...?
[What do you call steering a giant ship?]

Ace didn't snore at all in that state. He was partially conscious, though only enough to register images by fuzzy sight alone. The way he was gripping the helm wasn't reassuring either, as it was hard enough the splinter the wood.
Slowly, though, he began to droop.]

[Korra grumbled to herself as she leaped up to the helm and gave Ace's shoulder a hearty shake.]
Go rest. [It wasn't a suggestion. Korra had no qualms about telling her captain what to do, and she knew that he was going to be beating himself up over this loss. Stalemate. Whatever they were going to call it.] Someone else can take the wheel.
no subject
In a dull tone, he locked the wheel and muttered.]
When the crew's safe.

She resumed pushing and pulling the water in their favor, easing the large ship's escape in the best was she knew how.]
no subject
...What're you doin' up here?
no subject
I'm moving the water so that we sail faster.
no subject
Not that he remembered. Ace was, after all, barely beyond himself.]
Stop. You're bleeding.
no subject
[Not entirely true, but Korra had fought through significantly worse.]
I can heal myself later.
no subject
I should fight you on it. It's the captain's job to do these things.
no subject
[Was she telling Ace how to do his job...? Oops. Don't care.]
no subject
[Being the type of person who didn't mind what he was called or what people thought of him, it would be no wonder that he made his own decisions as fluidly as he liked.]
I'm not ignorant of myself or of others. If I'm not willing to be decisive and if I don't act in haste, then I don't deserve to be your captain.
no subject
[Decisiveness and quick thinking had always been a difficult point for Korra. She had always been brash and stubbornly rooted in her beliefs, until the choice came down to being a Southerner or the Avatar.]
I'm just trying to look out for you. Because you? Won't.
no subject
What're you talkin' about? I'm really tough, remember?
no subject
Yeah, tough guy. I know a 6 year old who could make a better argument.
no subject
[He pointed the turkey thigh at Korra.]
Plus, I've had worse. You should've seen me when I met my pops.
no subject
Yeah, yeah. Just don't do anything too stupid, all right? And get some real sleep.
