[Log || 002] Setting sail!

What: Learning how to sail this thing, meeting each other, prepping for Navy battles!

General sailing log for the next week or so! Randomness and fun times and whatever we want!

[Toothless follows along faithfully, as though he doesn't want to let the boy out of his sight. Given that he's had a mild case of separation anxiety, perhaps it's true enough.

He can tell that they're getting ready to leave, and he looks forward to it, if only because he's not very particular of the town and its people that side-eye him so. Hiccup will know what the dragon truly wants, however, Toothless giving a meaningful glance at his back, wings raising just slightly, although not unfurling.]

[To be honest, Hiccup felt the same way. Plus he'd rather not be accused of dragon neglect by certain people due to a huge misunderstanding and selective hearing. He blinks.]

Hm? Oh.

[Yeah, he can see what Toothless wants to do. Eyes dart between the dragon's gaze and his black wings, briefly jumping back at the town past the docks.]

Yeah, I guess you're right. It looks like a good day for flying.

[His tail-end wiggles anxiously at that, and he moves forward to stuff his nose into Hiccup's side.]

[Warm air is felt through his tunic, slightly moist as Toothless' nose presses into him. He laughs, giving him all the pets.]

Okay, okay, we'll go! Hold on.

[Checking around, Hiccup moves, climbing into the saddle easily. All of his gear is looked over, testing its security. All of it feels the same – which is a good thing since they don't really have the means to fix any issues at the moment.

His left peg clicks and shifts, regaining control of the tailfin it's connected to.]

All right. Ready, Toothless?

[Giving a playful grunt, the dragon shakes his head once Hiccup moves to climb aboard. Perking at those words once the boy is ready, Toothless gives a brief growl in confirmation before he crouches, wings spreading. Say the word and they will vault into that sky, baby.]

[That's more like it. Hiccup grins.]

Let's go, bud!

[AAaaaaaaaaaand they're off! The distance between them and the ground grows exponentially with each beat of the Night Fury's wings.]

Yeah!!!

[He hollers at the top of his lungs, feeling the wind hit him headlong and through his choppy hair, that rush of adrenaline coming back to him in mere seconds.]

[It feels like it's been forever, and for it being nearly a month, that seems long enough for a dragon to be grounded. Toothless lets out a happy sound, almost echoing Hiccup's joyous shout as they soar.

Up here, it could almost be home.

Up here, it is familiar territory.]

[The freshness of the air mixes with the salty scent of the ocean, filling his nostrils as a reminder of where he last left off.

Freedom.

Home.

The sky is the limit. His flight of happiness falters when a slight aching feeling rises in his chest.]

...Let's climb higher...!

[Perhaps Toothless feels it too. Pumping his wings harder, the dragon gains altitude.]

[This is one way to clear their heads. The beating of Toothless' wings sound unusually loud. The pressure also gets to him eventually, indicating they've climbed high enough.

Hiccup draws in a breath, holding it in for a second before looking at the vastness of the waters below them.

Drawing his lips into a thin line, he leans forward.]

[That subtle shift is enough for Toothless to know what's coming next. He and Hiccup are practically one when they're out flying, and so after one last beat of his wings, he stills for all of two weightless seconds, curving his body as he angles his head downward. His wings remain outstretched briefly, but the moment they are facing down, he tucks his wings closer to his body as they begin their descent.]

[Anticipation. He knows it's coming, and yet he doesn't. Gravity plays its part, assisting, emphasizing the speed and rate in which they drop, a beautiful dive toward deep blue-green.

Adrenaline pumps again, flowing through his veins as he rides, steeling his grip on the saddle, angling his body downward to lessen the drag. Happy or sad, whatever noise he does make is left unheard.

Had he forgotten to use another motion in shifting gears, he and the Night Fury would hit the water fast and hard. Thankfully the gear shifts for the tailfin, those subtle movements instinctively changing quickly to swoop upward.

Loop-dee-loop, Toothless?]

[It's a rush that Toothless has learned to appreciate much more with someone to enjoy the moment with. He's learned to have fun with Hiccup, and dives like these are commonplace in their flights.

He feels that adjustment of his tail fin, and at precisely the right moment, unfurls his wings again, catching enough of the air to give them lift in a sharp curve.

It's a smooth path back up, and with wings remaining stretched to their full extent, the dragon takes advantage of the speed of their glide to pull them up, over and around.]

[Having spent that much time in the air, it shows they were both crazy. But in a good way.

No catch on the arc makes for a clean run, Hiccup's head nearly floating from the weightlessness that briefly took over. Again he whoops, pumping a fist into the air the moment he recaptures his earlier excitement.]

[Toothless is just as ecstatic, and once they pull out of the loop and level out, he gives a triumphant roar and thankfully not one accompanied with a fireball.]

[He laughs, patting the Night Fury on the flat part of his head.]

We're in business! Good job, Toothless!

[b2_dragon]

[Grunting happily, the dragon continues to glide, waiting for Hiccup's guidance, wherever they might end up going from here.]

Okay. Let's try something else.

[The gears shift again. Some quick runs should do it.]

Go, go!

[b2_dragon]

[A powerful flap of his wings and then Toothless once again tucks them close as they fly closer towards the water.]

[Better. Much better. This is the speed he was going for and Toothless does not fail to deliver.

Now, if only there were some tall precarious-looking rock formations standing around for them to make an impromptu obstacle course.]

[The landscape (seascape?) out here was severely lacking by opinion of the daredevil.

Toothless continues smoothly along, however, casting a glance back at his copilot.]

[Hiccup makes a face, but he sounds reassuring.]

Yeah, I know.

[A nudge and a light turn is given as a signal.]

Who would've thought this place would be so...open?

[Looking frontwards again, Toothless carries them around at Hiccup's touch. His eyes scan the waters as they soar above them, perhaps looking for any quick snack to snatch up while they're at it.]
