INTRO LOG: APRIL 2014

WELCOME NEW CHARACTERS!
Have an intro log for the month of April!

Who: Any and all new characters, as well as anyone hanging out on or around Isla Empieza!
Where: Near the fountain in the town center.
When: New characters will arrive around April 9th! The log is good for as long as you need it.
What: You've just been dropped on your head in a weird new world. Time to figure out what the heck is going on!
Status: VERY OPEN.

The day begins gray and drizzly, the miserable sort of rain that just makes everything muddy and unpleasant. Just the luck of the locals of Isla Empieza that these April showers bring more outsiders instead of May flowers. As the day goes by, the rain gets heavier and the locals get surlier. Lucky for you you have that message in your journals telling you to get moving and find a crew, huh?

Feel free to throw your characters here if you need a place for them to get situated and start figuring things out! Start new threads, tag into others, meet the people who might just become part of your crew! Older characters will be in and out, too, depending who is on the island at the current time.

[Sitting under the overhang of a street vendor's cart, currently empty due to slow business from the rain, Codi waves down someone who is definitely not in the local dress and desperate enough to look around that she doesn't mind getting wet. If she isn't a newcomer, Codi will be very surprised.]

Come out of the rain for a minute, would you?

[ Average height for a tall human...

No, that's impossible. Bolin's seen tall humans. They're tall but not like. They're still probably half this guy's size. Pabu briefly pokes his head out into the open air to commiserate on the matter, which is actually mostly Bolin assuming that something agrees with him. ]

Oh, I'm average for average. As far as average even goes, I guess. My personality covers a lot of metaphorical height for me. [ For real. ] Did you wanna go find a coat or a place with a roof or something? 'cause hey, lucky day, I'm great at keeping dry!

[Now, don't break her delusions just yet. She seems innocent enough, if a bit skeptical at his diversions--but she'll come back to it eventually.]

If I was, I wouldn't be talking to you in the first place, now would I? [She narrows her eyes and brings the subject back.] Is this log pose thing important? I could probably get one for you!

Okay, those are-- great questions. What I understand about the situation so far is, uh. [ Welp. ] There's a magic gem, I'm supposed to become a sailor or get arrested, and nobody's mentioned anything about exactly how I got here in the first place. Which could be worse! I'm totally... I'm totally working with what I've got here. Handling the situation. Responsibly.

You're on an island called Empieza, and whereever you came from...Well, you're probably a really long distance from it. Like, worlds and worlds away from it. Long fuckin' distance, is what I'm saying.

You got snatched here the same as a lot of us did. I know the WHO that's the responsible, but not the HOW he does it. Davy Jones ain't exactly forthcomin' with his methods.

[ He cannot confirm or deny whether or not his methods of approach will be truly responsible or not. He knows his brother would possibly have lectured him for letting Pabu have too much free reign in a new situation, then rolled his eyes and lectured him again for offering to replace someone's food. Everything else is kind of... take it as it comes.

Like worlds away, which is dismaying right down to the bone, which Bolin will. He's not even sure what. There are so many things happening today that he has no idea how to react to. He figures it'll probably hit in full force later on. In the middle of the night, or after dinner, or something. ]

Oh, Davy Jones! I saw his name on the fountain and in the book, yeah. So, assuming I've never heard of him until today and everything seems to be written in a strange coded language [ Mystical Pirate Riddles, that is. ], what's his general story? Dark spirit? Evil wizard?

[thing is, Liz didn’t MIND the rain. She’s not a fan of being wet because of fiery reasons, but at the moment it isn’t -bad-. It’s kind of nice. The whole.... new place thing is crap though.]

[She noticed the girl calling to her. A brow raised, and she glanced behind her shoulder then back. Yeah, it was her. Unsure, she came towards her. A small nod of her head in greeting.]

Hell I know. I just know he's responsible for this nonsense, and he wants us to track down these shard things for him. Which he really shouldn't have.

Wow! How many people with crazy unnatural powers are gonna surface this year? It's starting to turn into a real hassle.

[He wasn't that put off by the red furred creature that was sniffing at his sandwich. Between Jack, Mikun and the goat the red fur ball was polite. He couldn't help not give it a piece of bread.]

I hate to break it to you, but a lot of us fall into that category.

[ Bolin likes this guy already. Judging by the way that Pabu doesn't just take the bread and run to the relative safety of higher ground, it's approved. And he's pretty sure that Pabu's got reliable taste in approachable human beings to boot, so it's a big bonus. There is a smile on his face so fast. ]

Pabu's a fire ferret! I mean, obviously not just any fire ferret, too. He's pretty much the smartest and most talented fire ferret that's ever existed. Just, uh. Not with food. Not yet.

--okay, maybe that's fair. [ SQUINT... and a mild lean backwards. ] Sssso are you, you know. Evil and-or trying to rule the world? Not necessarily for reasons that you think aren't justified! Just curious.

I turn into a big monster during full moons. I'm also pretty awesome, which I guess is also a power.

I appreciate your honesty. And I'm gonna say that being awesome counts as a power. It's a gift that not everyone has.

It's a hard burden. In any case, I suggest you grab a crew quick. Faster you're away from here, the better.

[He turns on his heel, casting a glance back at him.]

You should have enough money on hand to at least get some food. Make sure you check your pockets well. Guess I'll see you around, newbie. Akira's the name.

[Ironically- some members of Haruka's crew had been hit with a similar curse just recently. She would have thought that this newcomer had somehow managed to take a trip to one of the islands before showing up here]

[Haruka smiled as the discrepancy was cleared up]

I know it can be a bit jarring at first, but if there's anything you'd like to know I'd be glad to answer your questions to the best of my ability. There is still a lot I don't know about this world either but- we can always use more friends, right?

[Coby stared at Kuzan, somewhat in awe. Despite not remembering his name, Kuzan still remembered him as a person--which was a hundred times more than he expected or even thought reasonable from such an influential and important person. He nearly fell off of his spot on the fountain, though the umbrella began shaking a little bit as he felt he'd nearly crush it in his hand.]

Coby! It's Coby, sir! It's a pleasure to meet you again!

A-anyway, sir, that's a reasonable thing to admit. We aren't on the same Earth. This is a completely different world.

Is that right? [big personality. He could kind of tell that already. He rubs his nose and shifts his weight again with the unpleasant squish.

As to where...that was problematic.

Taverns were a good choice ostensibly, but they were always full of pirates and lowlifes and then he always felt he had to work. Even Marine taverns were that way oft times. And the other times filled with Marines who did nothing but strain their backs trying to be on their best behavior and not having fun.]

Maybe ...a coffee shop. If you know of one.

Coby, is it. [notes the shaking. Well that's to be expected. He did remember something about this one being flighty]

So it's true... [It's as much as he expected. But to have it be confirmed is somewhat unsettling. Still at least it wasn't a world entirely different, or didn't seem so from the looks of it. Island. Sea. The overbearing ghost was a bit much but philosophically speaking, Roger's ghost and influence was still strong as ever]

[Coby's eyes were taken from Kuzan to the center square as a number of the villagers began to rapidly leave the fountain square, finally noticing the two similarly dressed men were speaking to one another. From what they knew, that kind of loose association among pirates was even more trouble than the norm.

Frowning inwardly, Coby looked back to his own mantle.]

How many, sir?

Oh, uh- yeah! Totally! Gotcha! [ He's chocking this one up as a victory. Someone in town was moderately friendly and explained some things: that is great! He's been taken by an evil guy and is alone again: less so. But maybe that's just the way of the world today. What a generation, honestly. Bolin can handle this. He. Can handle it. ]

Get a crew, watch my ferret. Maybe I'll see you around, Akira! [ Nailed it. ]

Local Inn

*So this place was as bad as it could get, and then it started raining. If Faye was going to be anywhere in this weather, she'd need food, and drink. Fast. So she makes her way into the bar, using the rain to her advantage as she flicks the damp hair from her eyes.

Faye will either be at the bar, casting her eyes around to find someone generous enough to buy her a meal and a drink. Quite obviously a stranger, she's keeping her wits about her all the same.

Otherwise, she'll linger in the doorway, waiting for the rain to pass, stepping in and out of the street every now and then, which someone may or may not notice*
