I accidentally crack the earth underneath you. Or...I accidentally burn down the forest. Or I alter the mana lattices under the island. Or I disrupt your ability, and cause something bad to happen.
[She banishes the balls of light and gives him a fairly serious look.]
I've never worked with this energy before. I don't know what it can do, but...I know it can take away powers. That's why I'm taking it slow.
[She looks rather grave, not kidding around about that. She's...had experience.]
[he knows the look and the sober mood annoys him...though he isn't sure if it's the island or himself or a mix of everything.]
Bah. [He's not really annoyed at her and calls the darkness back to himself as he tries to compose his face. The most he manages is a somewhat tired smile]
Would you care to take a jaunt around the shore in the Little Dipper?
[they have a sail boat after all. may as well use it]
[He'll head to the ship as well, to release the Little Dipper from the back of the Moon and get her all prepared for sailing. He'll be waiting for Chandra when she arrives, to help her into the boat.]
[And she arrives a moment later, hopping down off the Sun and floating across to him on golden, flaming wings. An odd experiment, but one that'd come naturally enough to her with a little thought. In one hand is a basket, the other, a bottle.]
Right, wine, cheese, and other stuff. Hope that sounds good to you.
Beautiful. [in more ways than one. He was always a sucker for wings. Especially flaming ones. He catches her around the waist and holds her there for just a second longer than he should before setting her down.]
Catch the tiller, fireflower? Just til we're beyond the breakers.
[The flames vanish as he pulls her in, and she gives him a cheeky little smile before nodding. She hadn't minded being close, it was thoughtful really.]
Sure, can do.
[She grabs hold and keeps the boat steady as they cast off. There may even be a bit of a hot summer breeze starting up to get them on their way better.]
[he hadn't minded the closeness either, to be honest, and he sits close by her as he works the boom and they rush over the breakers before they eventually find and work into a nice current that sends them skipping into the deep blue, sun sparkling on the water.
The feeling of the island doesn't completely loose it's grip, but he feels better out here than back there and hums a bit as they ride in the spray]
[Once they're clear, Chandra starts to feel much more...herself...than earlier. And that's a good feeling, the oddly oppressive calm of the island leaving, and a lot of her usual energy returning.
The words she doesn't quite understand, but the meaning is clear. A term of affection. And a silly question.]
Sure, but I'm a little rusty. And never was very good at it.
So sing me a song. Any kind, but preferably your favorite. After all, it's pirate tradition.
[he lets some rope slip through his fingers to catch a merry burst of wind and send them even further from shore. Though he keeps a steady eye on clouds and shore both, just in case]
[Chandra paused, thinking of the few tunes she knew. Music wasn't something she really had a lot of time for, jumping from place to place, but there were always a few songs that stuck out in taverns and the like when she did stay for more than a day or so. After a silent moment, she starts singing in a husky voice.]
As I walked out one fine spring day, I met young Jac who was pitching hay, his hair so fair, and his eyes were too. Well I gave him a kiss, oh what could I do?
We snuggled and we tickled while the sun rose high. And I won't say how often he made me sigh.
Now Jac gets an hour when the sky is clear. And Willi gets an hour when my fathers not near. It's the hayloft with Mori for he shows no fear.
And Keilin comes at midday, he's oh so bold! Brelan gets an evening when the night is cold. Master Andril gets a morning, but he's very old.
Oh what, oh what is a poor girl to do? My loves are so many and the hours so few...
[her voice is good enough and the song makes him laugh, loud and clear across the water. It's his kind of song and just perfect for her and himself, too, really. He's already rearranging the lyrics in his head.]
Frankly, my dear, I'm shocked!
[but he leaned in a little closer with a wide grin]
[She lets out a hearty laugh of her own, swatting at him teasingly.]
It's just a song. As if I'd ever spend an hour snuggling with a man named Master Andril, or Brelan. Honestly they've got to have better names than that.
[She leans back, letting her hair fly in the wind, giving Thatch a grin of her own.]
And would you now? Well...you'd have to sing for it, you know. Then I'll consider it.
[he thinks about this, whistling a few tunes to get himself started and thinking, and then a rollicking bright tune]
I sail along the bright blue sea, my bonny girl at my side I would fight the storms for her and I would fight the tide.
O Chandra dear, of fire red hair and passions deep inside Will you make the boat a bed with me and let the blanket be our sky?
[and before she can answer he holds up a finger]
If not, I'm sure I will not die But let me ask of you this A bottle full of sweet red wine... [he draws out the note a little] and from your lips a kiss.
[She listens to the song in silence, bobbing her head in time with the tune and smiling. The fact that he's taken the time to get her away from the rest of the crew, out on a boat, with food and wine...and to change around a song for her? Well...that's a lot more than most men have done for her.
Pointedly, she doesn't laugh. Instead, she picks up the bottle she'd brought, and leans in close again, one arm snaking around him.]
Is that what you really want? [Her tone is low, husky, and not at all displeased.] Heh, you still haven't given me dinner...but I'll think about the first request.
[And then she kisses him, pressing her lips to his with a fierce tenderness and a happy chuckle in the back of her throat.]
[he leans into that kiss, putting a hand at the small of her back and pulling her a little closer, giving her another kiss before she can pull back completely, tender and lingering.
He pulls back and chuckles, stroking a finger along her jaw, watching her eyes]
I'd suggest the wine, but it has no comparison in taste.
[She laughs, muffled by the lips in front of her so it comes out deeper than usual, grinning the whole while. When he pulls away, she playfully nips at his lip before she lets him go, eyes dancing with delight. The hand she has around him goes higher, slowly rising up to the center of his back.]
Well, if that's the case, I wouldn't want to spoil it...
[She pulls him in again for another quick kiss, this time letting her tongue flick out and lick his lips.]

Hell. Yes. I want off this island.

I'll be back in a few minutes then.
[And off she heads to the ship. She's still got some of that Regathan firewine...]
