Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

[And as far as Ragna is concerned, this conversation is over. He has no intention of getting into the details about his Grimoire with anyone, much less a stranger. If the brat decides to leave him alone now that he's made it clear, the man would welcome it.

... Though it's hard to ignore the kid when that... weird monster thing appears. It doesn't take a genius to figure out Sasuke is the source, but as for what exactly it is, he has no clue. An Ars Armagus? No, that doesn't seem likely; after all, he has yet to see one here, outside of his own world. Magic? ... It's plausible, although the Grim Reaper isn't thrilled about that possibility.]

["Relax". What a joke. Ragna hasn't had a chance to take it easy in ages, not to mention he's not exactly a good spy material: usually when he enters the enemy's fortress, he simply kills everyone in sight, blows the place sky high and leaves. This time it's obviously not an option, so like it or not, he might need to bear with it...]

Codi pretends to be surprised. It is, in reality, thinly-veiled annoyance; so Haytham actually showed up and danced?! She had so much money riding on that! Curses!

Granted, that wasn't the entire wager--and she can't help but make sure that the claim holds. "A prince charming? Sweep you off your feet on the dance floor, did he?"

If you keep making her smile so much, Elissa's cheeks are going to start aching, Tyrant. "Swept me into a dance and made certain our path took us behind one of the pillars so that he could steal a quick kiss without missing a step," she agreed as she lightly swayed to the current music.

"I am fairly certain that my heart is doing its best to beat its way past my defenses. I may be in trouble."

Oh, trust me-- [And taking that advice, she abandons all caution: ] --everyone knows a Tyrant has only as much power as her confidence allows!

[Then, with a wide grin and a cheerful wave, she ducks out the front door and disappears down the path, into the night.]

He's simply the kind of person who looks out for himself and the people that he cares for. He's not interested in the law or in criminality.

[Kodachi didn't mention it because it was a mundane piece of trivia as far as she was concerned. There were much more interesting things about her person that she liked to put emphasis on, like the fact that she was a martial artist.]

[She raised a brow and looked him over.]

You look deprived of dancing, that's true.

[She held her hand out to him.]

[She sighed and shook her head in coquettish, mock penitence.]

[She allowed him to dip her abruptly, and she even smiled at him, giving him doe eyes.]

[Luka smiled, moving her hands up to his shoulders.]

First off, you're really tense. Take a deep breath, and ease up.

[She nods, so that was what she was giving her the hint about. She had assumed she knew what she meant but now she did... she hadn't a clue. Kairi for the moment climbed underneath the table, knocking anyone down who had a weapon on their person and she knew wasn't apart of her crew.]

So these are just easier to fight? [Well that could explain why she was finding it easier right about now.]

Very well. I can believe it when you say that. [But she certainly wanted to watch to see how he did it, but she doubts she would be able to.]

"Given the threads in her dress are made out of gold, it could be evenly matched." She said looking over once more. It really was a site to see never the less.

"Well, his grandfather is a very famous admiral. That's no environment to raise a child of course, so he mostly grew up in the wild, and with an appetite to make giants afraid," Marco grinned quietly. As much as he might occasionally nudge Selphie and Ace together, he didn't really picture them in anything long-term. She was too much of a city girl, and for all of Ace's manners, he was practically a caveman sometimes.

They ought to, but such nature is often viewed as more common among farmers or workers than the leisure class, sadly.

[And Marco is relieved. Even dancing with Robin, she was so on guard thanks to the navy around them. Kodachi, on the other hand truly seems to be enjoying the dance for the sake of the dance.]

Unfortunately I rarely have much opportunity for it at sea. And even more rarely do I have such an experienced partner. One could easily take you for a professional dancer, Miss Kodachi.

Nay, I'm but a lowly lieutenant, Ma'am! [Marco gave a salute.]

And you're terrible at playing the part, yoi.

"Aye, very wise," Marco's eyes danced in amusement. So far as he was concerned, this was another battlefield and he was having fun with it. "If you need help, find the girl with the nunchucks at least half an hour before then, yoi."

[There's a blink, and Marco's expression actually flickers for a bit.]

[He's not sure what Ace is thinking, what insults isn't he saying?]

[As he starts puzzling it out better he wants to ruffle Ace's hair, but he can't since he's playing the part of lieutenant to a captain.]

[He wants to grab Ace a drink or food, his natural birdie instinct to help the little idiots get bigger and stronger, but that's another thing he has to resist right now.]

[So he settles for lightly punching Ace in the shoulder.]

[At minimum, he still wants to word it right. A shield, not a sword.]

I've only had one other captain, and no matter how much I wish he were here to see this, it's only because I know he'd be just as proud of you as I am, Captain. [Salutes.]

If your men aren't honored to sail with you, it's only because they're still too green to know better, and I have faith you'll get them there.

... was there supposed to be an implication of something in Haytham's words? Sasuke stared at the man in a certain amount of blatant confusion for a long moment before finally just asking outright:

"What are you trying to say? Why would having Sakura here distract me?"

[That's a complicated question to answer, and the look he gives her makes that clear enough even under the mask.]

[She nods, silently. She still wasn't sure what she was doing, or what kind of impact it would have. Still, if she could bring down an entire ship, that would help the crew immensely. She swims over to the bar, grasping it tightly with both hands.]

[Indeed, she was. Life just wasn't right without dance, as far as she was concerned. In fact, she danced everyday; she danced when she cooked, when she prowled the ship's masts, when she did her laundry, and so on, and so forth.]

[Kodachi let out a trill of laughter, twirling around gracefully in his arms.]

Oh goodness... [A small laugh.] Don't ask that, the truth will make me feel old enough to be your grandfather. [Because he is.]

Let's just say a long time, aye?

You want to really see the world, or at least the sea at her best someday, ask Ace to take you out on his skiff. That's how you can really know that you're alive.
