[oh god that felt so good. SO GOOD. Zoro takes his sweet old time sliding down the right way, second.]

[is listing at the bottom of the pool and trying not to drown. Man this last part is tough!]

[manages to slip right next to where Luffy is, gracefully splashing down in the right spot to grab him by the belt loop of his shorts and pull him out of the water]

How was that, was that fun?

Bleeehhhhhh [drools out pool water and a small relieved fish]

Why does there have to be a pool, Zoro? [that's just no fun] There should be sand.

Because most of us can't faceplant into a pile of sand and live.

[just holding him up by his shorts, letting him drip into the pool]

That was kinda neat.

Maybe they can have a pillow instead. Filled with chicken. [kicks his legs a little]

Hey, wanna go on another one?

Filled with...what? Luffy.

[flings him onto dry ground and then wades out after him]

Dunno, what are the other ones like?

Chicken. [flops bonelessly where he's tossed, his tongue lolling on the ground] Fried chicken. Whole fried chicken so instead of landing you can just eat it.

[he flops his head to the other side to look at Zoro, blinking water from his eyes]

There's a short one, a curvy one, a bumpy one, and one that looks like Sanji's eyebrow but I haven't been down it.

[now that it's entirely too late to save his shirt, Zoro peels it off and tosses it near his drink. He's still got a few bandages around his shoulder but otherwise looking much more healed]

Well there's no point in going down a short one. It's over and done too quickly.

[he grins and pushes himself up, still a little rubbery but shaking the water out of his hair]

You're having fun, na! [well water slides were pretty cool. Except for the water part]

Yosh! Let's go on the bumpy one and then Sanji's!

[and then they could do something else probably since he was getting pretty waterlogged, but for now he races to the bumpy slide, wondering if Zoro will actually race him]

[sure, why not? Between the sheer amount he's had to drink over the past few days and the joy of celebrating his captain's birthday, Zoro isn't as worried about his dignity today. He lets Luffy get ahead of him and then races to catch up, grinning]

shishishishi [that just makes him happier to see Zoro running to catch up and enjoying himself. He pauses at the top of the slide and turns to look back at him.]

Na... Two years from now, can you still look like that?

[happy, he means, enjoying the moment.]

Hahhh? Like what? [dumbass, looks down at his bandaged body] I dunno, I guess I could try not to get any more scars.

No, scars are cool. I mean... mm [he thought a moment and sat backwards, sitting on the top of the slide with his feet on the ladder] You got worried a lot... back home.

[it wasn't the right word but he wasn't sure what the right one was. He trained a lot and got more focused cuz he was worried--which was fine things were pretty heavy but he laughed less, too, it seemed]

So two years from now there, are you strong enough to enjoy yourself? [words are really hard so he kind of wills Zoro to understand what he means. He supposes he'll find out on his own eventually but he wants to know it now because he wants to]

[It takes him a moment to remember that Luffy comes from that time, when Zoro was at his lowest point. Of course, he was weak and concerned about that weakness. Things back then were less than fun. At that, he nods slowly, and makes sure to smile for him.]

I never forgot how to have fun, Luffy. Don't worry. Everything's coming out all right.

[except, you know, for being thrown into the middle of Law's plan to take down an emperor...but hey, that's fun too!]

Yosh! [nothing to worry about then]

Na,watch! [and then he throws himself backwards down the slide, thumping and bumping and probably would have broken his neck twice over if he wasn't rubber. Before hitting the water with a sploosh]

[snorts, and then climbs up to follow him down. It's not nearly as entertaining as the giant slide but eh, splashdown is nice and cool]

I'm pretty sure that's now how slides work, dumbass.

[spits out water and flops limply on Zoro's shoulder. Bleeeh watterrr]

Slides work however you want 'em too.

[cuz they were slides]

Let's go on Sanji. [whacks his shoulder weakly] But I wanna go together.

[Puts him in a headlock, all the better for to drag him to the curly slide.]

Fine, fine. Maybe if you sit on my shoulders you won't drown at the bottom, eh?

That would be really cool. [is dragged along still limp] You should put your hands up.

[Drags him out of the water and over to the other slide.]

Why would I do something like that?

Because it's a slide! You're supposed to do it. [feels better out of the water and manages to stand on his own, shaking his hair out]

Weren't you the one who just said 'slides work however you want?' Maybe I want it that way.

[Just enjoy having Zoro, with his older sensibilities and such, climbing on slides with you, Luffy. He goes up first, this time, so he can settle in and let Luffy climb on his shoulders.]

[oh. okay. He climbed up after Zoro and was really tempted to kick him down the slide in revenge but... He was really tired of holding his breath and he wanted to go with him.

So he climbs up on his shoulders and throws his own arms into the air]

LET'S GOOOOO!

[see? they both get what they want this way. Cue Zoro hanging on to Luffy's legs to keep him from tumbling as he pushes off. Curly slide is GO!]
