Marco quickly set up a couple of kegs at the ready for the drinking party. Because it was just plain necessary, and a lot like old times. The last two weeks were still weighing on Marco's mind. War, Peace, phoenixes. Was it a good idea to really enjoy war so much? Was it a bad one? Maybe it was inevitable, so he might as well enjoy it. Like life, right? Or should he not encourage it just because it was amusing?

It was too much of a headache, that's why he was just going to drink.

He also set up some non-alcoholic drinks for Leanne and everyone else. Green tea, fruit juices, but they were all clearly marked.

Marco gave a quick piercing whistle. "OI SPADES! Roll call and drinking games!"

And maybe drunk board games, he would blame that on Ace though.

Roxas hopped his way over from the Moon to check out this kind of party gathering. There's an awful lot of parties these days and he isn't sure what to make of it. He wasn't sure what the occasion was, so he kept back so he could observe and figure it out before doing anything else.

"YO KID!" Marco ruffles Roxas' hair. "Join in, have a drink, if you want, eh?"

"Hi." He smiles at the hair ruffling. "Really? I can?" He can't help but glance around in case Lea is watching. For some reason Lea doesn't want him to drink alcohol.

"Of course, you're a pirate, aren't you?" Marco stuck his tongue out. Of course if Roxas didn't say what kind he wanted, Marco might just mix him up something with juice though.

"Yeah, I know, but Lea doesn't want me to drink any alcohol. He stopped me before. I don't really know why." He seemed to think about it for a moment. "I want to try it though because I never had it."

Marco secretively held a finger over his lips. "Our little secret then," he promised. He mixed together some punch with a heavy splash of rum since it was sweeter than the other drinks, and even though Roxas' favorite flavor of ice cream was sea salt, in general the kid seemed to prefer sweet things. Lots of sweeter juice too. "Here, eh? Tell me what you think, and don't chug it."

It's good he warned him because Roxas probably would have chugged it. As it was though, he took a sip to try it and brightened a little. "It's pretty good."

It was beyond him why Lea was dead set against him drinking.

Marco nodded quietly. That was a good sign. If he'd made it too bitter the kid might have spit it all out. "Okay make sure you drink plenty of other liquids with it so you don't get sick, eh?" Another head ruffle. "And don't drink it too quickly, otherwise you should be fine."

And with that Marco went back to setting up the rest of the drinks, with a small signal for Roxas to follow along. "So how have you been? Did you have fun at Namur's dance party?"

He took a big swallow anyway. If he was going to remember to drink other liquids, time would tell.

"I've been okay, at least I think so. Yeah, it was fun. Everyone was having a good time. I was watching for awhile, oh and Namur gave me raw fish to eat, isn't that funny? Who would think of that?"

Luckily, that was why Marco added plenty of other juices in advance, just in case. Hopefully if anyone else got Roxas drinks they'd think to do the same.

"Sushi," Marco grinned in amusement, "Did you like it?"

"Oh yeah, it was pretty good, I was really surprised!" He took another big swallow of the drink in his hand. It was really good, so he kept drinking it.

"I would never think of that, because we cook everything."

Marco grinned cheerfully, "Aye, Nam-chan says that ruins them, but fishmen generally have stronger stomachs than humans. I prefer my fish with a bit of rice and seaweed at least, but mermaids won't eat any fish or meat at all. Just seaweed soup and that kind of thing, eh?"

"I don't really know what you mean by a strong stomach, but it was really really good and we had really good cookies too. I didn't eat too many this time because of the one time I ate too much candy and I felt really sick after. I don't really know what I prefer, we didn't really eat much at home before, maybe I don't have to eat, I don't know." That seemed likely now that he thought about it since he slept for a few weeks and nothing bad happened.

"Anyway it was really good so I was surprised. Zeff is a good cook, he knows how to make everything."

Wow, Roxas was talking almost as much as he usually did to Xifer. Marco didn't want to say so, but he was relieved. It made telling the truth about his identity a bit easier at least. He nodded in response to the chatter about Zeff. "That's why I was so desperate to get him to join us, eh? I'm glad you had fun though. So sweet things are your favorite? Or is that just what you've tried the most of?"

A lot of his rambling was caused by having a disorganized thought process, but he also enjoyed talking to people. Most of his life people didn't talk to him with precious few exceptions and he didn't mind talking anyone's ear off that would listen to him.

"I guess that makes sense because he's pretty good at it. I don't know. I really like sweet things and they're my favourite, but it's also what I've tried most of. I know I like sweet things because Axel gave me ice cream and that was sweet and salty. I don't think I've found anything I don't like though, but there was a lot of weird looking food at the party."

Fair enough. Marco could be the same way sometimes. Sometimes he wouldn't say much at all, and other times, especially with close friends, you couldn't shut him up. Thus the letters from Xifer, of course.

"What about nuts and seeds? Those are usually salty," Marco thought it over, looking for some more snacks to dig out. Salty things were common for drinking parties since it held the liquids better and helped with the dehydration ironically.

"I don't know. I don't think we have had very much." He looked around and lowered his voice in a secretive manner. "Don't tell the Chef but I don't remember a lot of what we make for food. I know I'm supposed to. He said I'm supposed to remember what everyone likes but I don't."

Food didn't rate terribly high on the scale of things Roxas had to remember.

Awww Roxas, cutie...

Marco just reaches out and ruffles his head again. "Hey don't worry, eh? That kind of thing takes time to learn. You can make a cheat sheet if you want. Write it down on cue cards and keep them in your pockets. Wanna know a secret? I had to do that for my crew back home. We have sixteen hundred, and then a couple thousand allies, it took me forever just to remember all their names and faces, eh?"

"Really?" He grins brightly. It was absurdly comforting to know that it isn't just him who can struggle that way because it seems like it sometimes. He tilts his head back and drinks the rest of his drink. He was feeling a little warm, actually.

"I try really hard, but sometimes it doesn't work and I know people get sick of it. I can tell."

Marco nods his head, "Really. It was hard for me because I was more used to bird faces and landscapes. Adjusting to people took a lot of work for me. And don't worry. They just get frustrated because they don't know how to help it and whether to blame themselves or not. So just do your best, and you'll keep getting better at it, I'm sure."

"Maybe, but it's okay. I don't need much help, I can figure things out on my own if I have to. I might not remember everything important, but usually I can figure it out, I think. But I end up with a lot of questions but Lea is really good about answering all my questions. I don't have as many anymore because I remember more things now but when I first got here it was really confusing you know."

Another head nod. "I still can't really imagine what it must have been like for you guys. I grew up on the ocean, and I've been a pirate for a lot longer than I want to admit, eh? But I guess it'd be like if I tried to go to school or something." A head shake, "Nay, more like if Namur tried to go to school."

"I don't know what school is like, I never went." Roxas shrugged a little bit. "Sora must have gone once but because I don't remember his memories, I can't say. For me it was just Organization XIII. Then a prison...then whatever comes after that. Nothing good, I think."

A soft glance. "Sounds pretty terrible. I didn't go to school either, but I usually try to avoid prison. A few of my brothers have been caught a few times though. Good thing you're out and here now instead, eh?"

"Yeah, but the prison was okay most of the time. I didn't even know then that it was a prison until Naminé told me." He frowned a little. He had words for her too when he saw her next, if he ever did.

"It was a fake life where everything around you isn't real, even what you know isn't real. Knowing what I know now, it's a horrible place."
