[Catch-all for Howling sabers.

05/21 will be the end of the official scuttling of the Charming Murderess near Scorpion Reef and we'll have to start using the new Galleon (and name her!) from then on. The Hey! Listen! is still intact and usable. As we sail away, remember to watch out for scorpions and get ride of them.

05/26 Link Jr. returns from his canon update in a 17yr-old-body with the Master Sword strapped across his back.

05/28 - 06/04(dates negotiable) Stopping on Manila for a library visit.

[He's still smiling a little when he looks up at his brother's comment, though he does his best to tone it down so it's just the slightest of upward turns at the edges of his mouth.]

... Yes. I think it's - [Oh no. Don't say it.]

[He's going to say it.]

[And he has to clear his throat, his smile growing. It's not even that funny of a pun.]

[... well, Itachi certainly seems to have enjoyed his own joke. Sasuke looks dubiously around at the fog, just in case there's actually something there, and then back at his unusually jovial brother.]

Do you mean literally? [He hasn't actually taken a look at the journal yet this morning, and he's thinking that perhaps he was remiss not to do so.]

[He nods briskly, forcing the chuckles down. The ninja clears his throat again.]

Yes. Ah. Literally.

... I don't want you to think I'm unhappy here [With you.] but this isn't completely natural either.

[Sasuke's expression grows concerned, though at least if it's mind-control Itachi is aware of it this time. And it seems comparatively benign, if all it does is put the people affected in a good mood.

If he thinks about it, though, he's never actually seen Itachi quite this ... giddy.]

Do you notice anything else out of the ordinary? Besides the ... [He makes a vague gesture at Itachi, roughly encompassing most of the space he's occupying.]

I don't think I'm the only one affected. Aside from that, no. Just the, ah... mist.

[Why does it have to be pink? That's so ridiculous. Well, no more ridiculous than anything else here, perhaps.

He's trying his damnedest to be serious. This would be more infuriating if he wasn't unable not to be light-hearted about it.]

You seem fine. That's good. [As if being cheerful is a bad thing.]

[For all that Sasuke's mood was rather dark before, there is something bizarre enough about Itachi clearly hiding good-humour and amusement that it throws Sasuke off-balance, displaces the mood with something that he can't identify.]

I don't seem to be affected, no. [He scrutinizes Itachi for a moment longer.] I guess it could be worse.

It could be. It definitely could be.

[He closes his eyes, breathes in...

... bursts into a fit of giggles that he hastily quells. It's just something about the way Sasuke was looking at him.]

[Okay that's -- that's ...

That's really weird. Sasuke can't really do anything but kind of stare at that for a long moment. It's like someone has taken Itachi, cloned him, raised the clone in some kind of bizarre crazy land, and is suddenly replacing the real Itachi with the clone at random intervals.

He opens his mouth, then closes it, because he really doesn't know how to respond to his brother giggling.]

[This is a little embarrassing. It's a good thing Itachi isn't easily embarrassed. He runs a hand through his bangs, focusing on serious thoughts. Weirding his brother out isn't what he's going for right now.]

[Everything is very amusing and/or exciting right now. It really is the strangest thing.]

I can contain myself in my room if you think that would be for the best.

No -- [The response is immediate, because it's not like Itachi is attacking anyone. It's nothing like the last time they'd been forced to lock Itachi up in his room, and Sasuke has no particular desire to revisit that experience.]

It's harmless. Just ... [He searches for a word only briefly before giving up to reality:] Weird.

Really weird.

Yes. [The most light-hearted of answers that's half a chuckle.]

I agree on that.

[He won't bother trying to contain the smile now. It just makes it worse in the end.]

... Did you need assistance with anything? My current... condition doesn't keep me from being able to function around the ship.

What? [Assistance? Even if he did, with Itachi like this ...]

No, nothing in particular. [He's already ascertained that the people missing are still missing, and it's not like he's overly concerned about that, just annoyed.]

Alright. If you're sure.

[There are always things that need doing here. At least from Itachi's perspective.]

... Did you want any company?

[His instinctive response is no, especially when there's company that he doesn't want to be had all over the ship, reason number one he's claimed the rigging as his own space. But it's quieter than usual on board -- which doesn't bother him even a little bit -- and it can't hurt to keep an eye on his brother. Who knows whether this benign thing might not change later?]

If you want. There's not a lot to do except keep watch.

Oh good. Excellent.

[Itachi seems especially pleased to be allowed along, although he's cheerful about most things at the moment, so there's no reason this should be any different.]

We can see if anyone else has been affected, perhaps.

I haven't seen anyone else this ... [Perky? Cheerful? Weird?]

... different so far today, but we should look. [He hops up into the rigging, expecting Itachi to follow.]

[Itachi follows easily. Anyone else might find Sasuke's form of traveling about the ship amusing, but they're both ninja and used to it. (That his brother uses it to avoid others is a thought that gets another smile out of him, though. It's unsocial of him, but endearing.)]

All the better if it's just me.

[Though too many things only affecting him would be cause for worry.]

[Sasuke is unknowingly sharing that last thought -- with the exception of the weird age thing, Itachi seems to have been affected by the majority of the things that have struck the crew. Is there some kind of rule about age and susceptibility? No, the younger Link would have been in the same boat if so.

He's silent for a moment, thinking about this, as he looks over the crew from his favourite vantage point on the mainmast, high enough to see the full span of the ship and anyone on deck.]

Seems normal.

Relatively speaking.

[He has to stifle another bit of laughter. 'Normal' is a questionable term when it comes to this crew - or any crew here, for that matter.]

[He can hear the amusement in Itachi's voice, and despite himself and despite knowing the source, Sasuke's mouth twitches very slightly.]

If any of them were really normal, we would have cause to worry.

Mm. We would. [And he does chuckle at that, though he keeps it light.]

It would be best to keep an eye out in case others react at a slower pace.

Here's as good a place as any to keep an eye on things. [It's not often he invites anyone else up here, either, but he'd much rather keep a close eye on Itachi when there's apparently something in the air.]

Your eyes must come in especially useful up here.

[He blinks, remembering a little incongruently that the eyes in his head aren't technically his, but that's a point that really doesn't need to be discussed more than once.]

It would be even more useful if I could summon a real bird here.

That would require our summons being pulled from our world as well.

[And he's not sure how he feels about that, dragging those creatures here.]
