[Now that Roxas is distracted, Marco takes the skateboard as a bird, and hops up on it.]

[Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~!]

[And now there is a blue and black streaked phoenix sliding back and forth on deck.]

[Roxas doesn't notice at first, because he really is lost in his thoughts, staring out at nothing.

But the skateboard on the deck is an unmistakable sound, and he turns to look after a minute to see who's borrowing it. It doesn't matter so much that they are, he's just curious.]

Xifer!

[Roxas exclaims in surprise, first of all because Marco is on his skateboard and not doing too badly at that. He smiles though and goes over there, only then does he notice the black streaks.]

Hey, what happened? Did you get into some paint or something? You're all dirty!

[A grin at Roxas' enthusiasm, but at the question, he shakes his head and smooths the feathers down a bit. He likes it. Isn't it okay?]

[He spreads the wings back up to show it off and sparkle a little.]

[It doesn't look bad, but it's not the same, it's kind of like he got into something. As usual, his owner doesn't seem to be around.]

It's okay Xifer, I'll clean you up and you can play some more with me, okay? Maybe I can teach you a trick!

[Roxas leans down and attempts to scoop him up.]

[Whoa whoa what?]

[Marco shakes his head no, gives an annoyed sound and steps back.]

[He'll pass on this whole cleaning thing.]

[And what the hell? Why was that Thatch's reaction too? Well, actually he expected that from Thatch. Thatch has always been fussy about his hair, but it's fine! See, look? Sparkly and everything!]

[Roxas blinks a bit.]

I'm not going to hurt you or anything. You've got something on your feathers and some of them are black now. Don't you want to get clean?

[He takes a few steps closer and tries to scoop him up again.]

I'll be careful!

[Marco shakes his head again. He's not dirty! He took a shower this morning!]

[He gives an another annoyed sound, but with his back to the railing, his choices are to either 1) peck Roxas' fingers, 2) switch back to human, or 3) simply accept being picked up. So he allows the latter, albeit reluctantly.]

It won't be so bad.

[Roxas smiles and holds Marco to his chest, cuddling him a little bit, heading for the galley.]

I'll see if I can get this black off before your owner finds out and you get in trouble. I can teach you a trick after though. Maybe I can get you to skate on one foot!

[Says you. It's hard to dry fire feathers sometimes.]

[A one-foot skateboard trick sounds fun though, and it's hard to argue with the cuddles, so Marco relaxes and just wiggles his feet to tuck them in somewhere safe.]

[Have to start with an easy trick first, before Roxas comes up with something better for him to do. In the galley, he wanders Marco over to the sink and he looks between it and him.

Then he tries to sit Marco into the sink and tilts his head a little bit.]

I think you're bigger then I thought.

[He scratches his head.]

I guess I could put you in the tub in the bathroom.

[Marco shakes his head no over and over again, and squawks frantically.]

[Hell no.]

[That just reaches weird creepy pedophilia levels, okay.]

[He hops down and runs off to find Thatch.]

[What? It does not! Roxas is just going to sit him in the tub and wash him.

Maybe Marco is afraid of the water, but he's not expecting that, so he looks after him stunned a bit.]

Hey wait Xifer!

[Roxas chases after him.]

[Thatch spots Marco belting his way over and turns full from the wheel to hold out his arm for the phoenix to perch on, whistling inquisitively.]

The kid thinks I'm just a pet and now he wants to give me a bath. Just tell him it's dye and I'm already clean.

[Jumping up to rest on Thatch's arm is a pretty cool trick in itself. Roxas hasn't seen Marco run to anyone before and he's a little surprised that he just goes up like that.

It clicks for him, at least he thinks it does.]

Oh! Is he your bird?

[thatched]

Him? Nah. I think he was spit out by that Strawhat kid a while back and just decided to tag along.

[Marco obviously got himself into this mess all on his own and Thatch would be remiss if he didn't take the opportunity]

Grown kind of fond of him though.

[strokes his breast feathers with a knuckle]

[All the deadpan, but the strokes are alone are worth all the nonsense he needs.]

Oh, okay. I don't know who owns him, but I named him Xifer. He seems to like it.

[Oh right, he's there for something.]

He got dirty somehow, he's turned black. I was going to take it off before he gets into trouble, but he escaped. Do you think he's scared of water?

[thatched]

Xifer, eh? I don't think he has an owner, lad. Phoenixes are free birds.

[scratches under "Xifer's" chin]

The black won't come off with washing, sadly. It's a natural phenomena. It means he's sexually frustrated but too chickenshit to actually court the lady of his life.

[Oh you are SO getting a headbutt for that Thatch.]

Nice. REAL nice. I'll have you know I brought her flowers. So there, yoi!

[Nobody owns him? That's pretty weird isn't it, but there's a lot of people on the ship, they could probably feed him as much as he wants.

Roxas blinks at the suggestion of courting someone.]

He found a girl phoenix then? How come I've never seen her?

[thatched]

[he chuckles at the headbutt and whistles softly, 'good boy']

She's the pet of another pirate. And he can't bring himself to completely leave your side, yoi. It's a tragedy.

[Lightly pecks Thatch.]

I'm so telling Robin you called her Straw Hat's pet, yoi.

[Roxas blinks. That's a weird concept.]

Why not? He can go visit another bird if he wants to. It's okay Xifer.

[He peers at Marco curiously. At least he doesn't think he should wash him anymore.]

I'm going to teach him how to skateboard on one foot!
