At Sea

[This week Roxas is up to his usual shenanigans. He's less attached to Lea and more on his skateboard, making a ton of noise. It's less fun and more something to do with his time, to concentrate on something else.

If he's caught alone, he's mostly standing near the railing, staring out at the sea lost in thought. He seems a little unfocused at best.]

[Lea catches him staring out to sea one evening and frowns. It's starting to happen more and more often and Roxas has yet to say anything to him about it. Sure, maybe he isn't the best person to talk to most of the time, but that doesn't mean he won't listen.

Roxas doesn't even seem to notice as he walks up, so he gives him a light shove between the shoulder blades.]

Boo.

[Roxas jumps a bit, blinking at Lea before he plasters a smile on his face.]

Hey Lea!

[Lea scowls and pokes at Roxas' cheek. That's not fooling anyone, kid.]

Hey, yourself. What's up with you, anyway?

[Usually he wouldn't ask, but this has gone on for way too long.]

[Roxas blinks at him poking him and he shrugs a bit.]

Ah, it's nothing really, I'm just thinking.

Uh huh. Sure.

[Lea takes a seat on the rail.]

Thinking about what?

[Roxas shifts a bit uncomfortably. He isn't sure what to say about things, but he'll try anyway.]

Disappearing.

[He tries to shrug it off, as if it's nothing, because it should be far from his mind.]

[Ouch.

Lea looks away almost immediately. It's the number one topic he never wants to have to talk to Roxas about. They both know it's going to happen. For Lea, it's already happened and when the time comes and they leave this place, it's going to happen again. Hell, it's happened once here, too, if you count Roxas getting poisoned.]

Roxas...

[Why can't you just be happy and not think about that?]

[And all at once, he knows he's said something he shouldn't. Roxas backpedals quickly and forces a smile again.]

Ah, don't worry about it Lea.

[Hey look, a topic change.]

What do you think this island will be like, that we're going to?

[Excellent.]

[Now that Roxas is distracted, Marco takes the skateboard as a bird, and hops up on it.]

[Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.]

[WEEEEEEEEEEEE]

[Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~!]

[And now there is a blue and black streaked phoenix sliding back and forth on deck.]

[Roxas doesn't notice at first, because he really is lost in his thoughts, staring out at nothing.

But the skateboard on the deck is an unmistakable sound, and he turns to look after a minute to see who's borrowing it. It doesn't matter so much that they are, he's just curious.]

Xifer!

[Roxas exclaims in surprise, first of all because Marco is on his skateboard and not doing too badly at that. He smiles though and goes over there, only then does he notice the black streaks.]

Hey, what happened? Did you get into some paint or something? You're all dirty!

[A grin at Roxas' enthusiasm, but at the question, he shakes his head and smooths the feathers down a bit. He likes it. Isn't it okay?]

[He spreads the wings back up to show it off and sparkle a little.]

[It doesn't look bad, but it's not the same, it's kind of like he got into something. As usual, his owner doesn't seem to be around.]

It's okay Xifer, I'll clean you up and you can play some more with me, okay? Maybe I can teach you a trick!

[Roxas leans down and attempts to scoop him up.]

[Whoa whoa what?]

[Marco shakes his head no, gives an annoyed sound and steps back.]

[He'll pass on this whole cleaning thing.]

[And what the hell? Why was that Thatch's reaction too? Well, actually he expected that from Thatch. Thatch has always been fussy about his hair, but it's fine! See, look? Sparkly and everything!]

[Roxas blinks a bit.]

I'm not going to hurt you or anything. You've got something on your feathers and some of them are black now. Don't you want to get clean?

[He takes a few steps closer and tries to scoop him up again.]

I'll be careful!

[fierybluebird]

[Marco shakes his head again. He's not dirty! He took a shower this morning!]

[He gives an another annoyed sound, but with his back to the railing, his choices are to either 1) peck Roxas' fingers, 2) switch back to human, or 3) simply accept being picked up. So he allows the latter, albeit reluctantly.]

It won't be so bad.

[Roxas smiles and holds Marco to his chest, cuddling him a little bit, heading for the galley.]

I'll see if I can get this black off before your owner finds out and you get in trouble. I can teach you a trick after though. Maybe I can get you to skate on one foot!

[After several days missing, Ikki and Selphie finally returned, with tons of supplies for the Spades as well as other things that they could sell for money. Besides all that, though, Ikki made a small stop on an island to get a load of things and is not on his way to deliver them. He finds Roxas playing with his skateboard and decides to wait a bit before calling him.

Have an Ikki watching you go back and forth doing tricks, kid. Though he looks as if he wants something with you.]

[Roxas catches sight of Ikki before too long and he skids to a stop, flipping up his board into his hand. He grins and goes over to him.]

Hi Ikki! Where'd you go? What'd you do? Was it fun?

I went on a trip to release anger. I couldn't get the witch so I had to find another way to blow out steam.

[He smiles a bit at Roxas.]

How have you been all this time?

[Eheh, there's a question. He shrugs a little bit.]

Okay I guess. Glad the thing with the witch is over, everyone's back to normal.

[Ikki hums a bit.]

Or as normal as they can be after what happened.

[He gives Roxas a serious look for a moment before he speaks again.]

Come with me, I've got some things for you.

[He blinks, his eyes widening in surprise. He smiles at Ikki and follows after him.]

You do? Like what?

[Ikki goes to his room, letting Roxas enter first. There are several bags there, waiting to be opened, and all of them seem to be quite filled.]
