The minute the scream came though his journal, Gan Ning was moving. There was no time to waste fiddling around, they had to set sail to find Cynthia before it was too late. He tore through any maps and information they had on the ship, looking for anything that suggested spiders. Her clue, the spider-webs, meant that was all he had to go on. Fortunately, other pirates around the docks totally knew which island that was, and aside from impressing on him the "don't go there" part of the legend, told him where to find it.

It did seem odd that no matter where they were, if they set sail for Isla Empieza, they'd make it there in a day or so instead of weeks. Gan Ning relied on that, even though he didn't do more than skim through the harbor before setting a new course for Manahana-lia in the far west of the land. Hopefully weather wouldn't be against them. They had a long way to go and didn't have Wan there to guide the winds in their favor.

Spiders, the other pirates said. There'd be large spiders and his crew would be killed. Nope, Xingba would not let anyone die if he could help it. But that meant they'd have to fight. Roxas needed to heal so he could guard the ship, but everyone else, well...

Let's hope they make it on time.

[Roxas frowns a little more and stares at her.]

What do you mean? He said I just have to do some things and I'll be accepted like before.He always said it was like being family there.

Well there is not here, Roxas. Whatever Marco had you do, ended the day you left the Spades. We're a different crew and our definition of family isn't the same as theirs.

I didn't do anything yet, he said he'd tell me when he had a mission for me to do.

[He blinks though, wide-eyed.]

It's different? How is that possible? I mean, candy is the same wherever you go. What the word means doesn't change...

Roxas, do you know what loyalty means?

[He thinks about that for a moment, scratching his head.]

Yeah, I think so. Kind of like me and Lea. Marco said Selphie's mad at me because I was more loyal to Lea than her.

Ok well, in your own words, tell me what exactly does loyalty mean to you?

Um...

[It's a lot harder to define then he would have thought. He has to really think about how to put it. If his relationship with Lea is the example, then that's what he's going to work off of.]

Okay, well, I'd do anything for him. I'd go anywhere to find him.

Would you do that for Marco?

[He hesitates, really thinking it over.]

...Not over Lea.

[He has placed a lot of trust in Marco, something that has not come terribly easily.]

Ok, what about our captain? Gan Ning, the guy with the bells. Would you do anything and go anywhere to find him?

[He shakes his head after a moment.]

I mean, I'd try, I'm not a total jerk but...

[Compared to Lea, who he would move Heaven and Earth for, he doesn't know Gan Ning all that well. It isn't anything Gan Ning did, he's just trying to figure out where the bad part comes in.]

No no, there's no wrong answer here. Don't worry. So you're loyal to Lea, because you'd do anything and go anywhere for him.

[It's a little closer to what he originally thought. He rubs his forehead.]

[He snorts. That's an easy one.]

Hunt him down. He can't get away from me that easily.

Yeah, but that's not really the same thing! You don't have to do that just because Lea wants to.

[And of that, he has no doubt that Lea would do anything to come get him.]

That's where you're wrong Roxas. We went to look for you because you're our friend, you're part of this crew and we love you.

Family sticks together no matter what. That's why Ning and the guys dropped everything to come get me, and that's why we searched high and low the moment we realized you went missing.

[His brow furrows in confusion. Why would they? He hasn't been that nice, or around or anything. Lea was right about that, he's been gone a lot. He doesn't know their names and they don't really know him.]

I thought that before...but I was...when I left, after they said I was family, they got really mad at me.

[He reaches back and brushes his fingers on the back of his neck where his tattoo is.]

Ace didn't want me around anymore, but he...Marco said he changed his mind and I...

[He lets out a whine of frustration.]

If they were really your friends, they would accept you no matter what you choose. Friends never try to control friends, Roxas. Remember that.

I mean, were we mad when you chose to visit your old crew instead of trying to get to know your new one? We weren't. Instead, we gave you the freedom to do things at your own pace.
