Dog's revenge and stargazing
Who: Crew of the Mistress
Where:sailing due east
When:19th-29th
What: Talk like a pirate shenanigans and comet watching
Warnings: cursing like sailors imminent
Style:any
Status:closed to crew
19th: Talk like a pirate day! *Now with mandatory costumes and maybe missing body parts!*
21th-22th: Weather permitting the Maiden's Hair comet should be visible in the sky! *Likely chance of White Comet Empire invaders low.
26th-29th Mist-ery Event! A few of the crew are a bit shimmery and they might not recognize you and trying to touch them will result in loss of a memory.

21st | on the deck or wherever they've pulled in to anchor
"...don't recognize any of these."
She's disappointed. The constellations are one of the only things she has left from her parents.

"Nor I. Makes naviga'ing a mite harder."
Understatement of the day.
itt two cynical people vehemently deny that they like looking at the night sky
"Guess we'll have to make some new ones. That one kinda looks like..." She points. "A fat man spilling tea on hisself."
we don't have feelings we don't like things ALL LIES

"What's a 'le'pard'?"

"It's a large Jungle Cat. Ye often find 'em in Trees, stalkin' their Prey, though you'd soon regret it. Sleek and mean Things."

She's about to express skepticism when it happens: the night sky lights up as the comet burns a blazing scar across it. Her finger goes unconsciously to the scar on her cheek. "Oh..." She says, under her breath.
"Not that great. Don't see what all the fuss's about." She then says, being very convincing.

He looks to the sky, and his eyes light up as bright as the comet. Jim smiles warmly. The spark in his eyes isn't all from the comet's reflection. It brings back images of hanging on deck with his crew, of sitting 'round the fire with Kenway, Thatch, and Hornigold, before it all went to shit.
At Hester's very, very convincing denial, James glances over at her, now with a more offhand, lopsided smile.
"Funny 'ow much Noise Folks make 'bout somethin' so small."
Because they don't care, right? Right.

"The moon always throws me off, looks way to much like earth's if you ask me."
no subject
"What other moon would it be?"
no subject
Plenty of other planets have moons. Earth's moon is large compared to the size of the planet it's orbiting. Just about every planet in Earth's system has at least one. A few like Titian have colonies in my time. Friend's mother keeps swearing she'll move there.

[Harlock had a best friend with a passion for building ships.] I guess it just means despite butting earth behind me it's still... [He trails off, still torn between love of his home world and the utter disgust at government controlling.] Sometimes this place is like being sent back in time.

Aya was coming from behind, having stepped out onto the deck for some fresh air. He looked up as well, so see what she was gazing at. "Nothing about this world is really familiar."
no subject
"'Course I'm not surprised. Only an idiot would expect the sky to be the exact same on another world."
In other words, yes.

"Are you any good at mapping out the stars?"
no subject
"You're new here."
no subject
Her statement made him smile a little. Wonder how many weapons she can guess he was carrying.
"Just arrived not too long ago. I'm Aya."
no subject
"Are you talking about the stars?" She looked up staring at them. "There's none I recognize either, they are all new. At least that is what I think. Are you disappointed about that?"
no subject
"...It's just confusing, is all."
no subject
"I can agree they can be confusing and I'm sorry that is so. But at least we can learn about the new stars, maybe"
she's tsundere for astronomy or something
Not to see the comet, not to see it, not to see the god damn comet, OK? OK.
