Malevolent Mist on Spice Island
Who: Triton’s Mistress
Where: Spice Island
When: Oct. 10 - ??
What: As members of the crew touched by the mist grow more malicious they begin to cause turmoil on the ship turning a normal spice run chaotic.
Warnings: Possible fighting and language
Style: Whatever you want
Status: Closed to crew
The prow of the Mistress cut effortlessly through the salty water as the ship came to rest along side the dock. The uninhabited island was well known for its vast array of plant life, the bulk of which could be sold on the open market as spices or used to brighten up a weary sailor’s galley-cooked meals. Several large washtub sat on the dock just waiting for some one ambitious enough to fill them full of the island’s delicacies.
The trip to the island had been relatively calm with no major storms or hardships to slow their travel but now that they had docked odd things seemed to be happening all too frequently. Maybe the black mist the morning before had something to do with it?

"Never you mind about that..." He deflected wearing a huge smile on his face.
Read as, no.. they were not his. Say~! Let's talk about Lyrik and his powers more so he won't ask about the coins again! "That's really something!" He replied emphatically. "What else can you do? You can manipulate the rain and water in general... could you stir up oh say.. a full grown wave if you wanted to? Or cause a river to flood?""I bet you're the most powerful person on the crew now~.... "Laying it on a little too thick,"except for me..."
"Mm- it hasn't been done before. I can tell you that much." After a pause. "We could try searching the scene of the crime.. but these things came from multiple quarters".
no subject
"-what else? Well, yes, water, perhaps most liquid in general so long as there's a water base? I...don't know just how big a full grown wave would be. And why would I cause a river to flood? That would be dangerous! I could redirect excess water though, but then I'm only one dragon, and I'm still learning."
Lyrik had to blink at that- the most powerful person on the crew? "Oh no, I don't think I am. I mean....there's only so much I can do like this. And power depends on the way you look at things, I think."
Folding his arms, he looked back down at the various items. "Hmm... Can you identify whose they might be? -and you had better return those coins too!" Nope, didn't forget.
no subject
It totally is. Nope, he definitely wasn't denying it, just trying to avoid the subject outright."As long as there's a water base..." Blood comes to mind. It is mostly made up of water. Ban decided better of mentioning it and he doubted the kid ever thought about that as a possible substance he might be able to manipulate. "There's a wide range of crest sizes for waves, but I would think it would take more exertion on your part to form one of those." Might be useful against an opposing ship though. "Not necessarily. Annual floods can be used to replenish nutrients into the soil. It's only dangerous if you're standing in the flood plain." So .. not full grown. He didn't look full grown but you never knew. "Then in time you might be able to pull off some bigger feats.."
Yeah, went to far with that flattery. "Now you're just being modest. I can honestly say I don't know anyone else that's able to do what you're capable of".
"The journal was mine.. the rest of this I'm not sure. It's not like I go rifling through everyone's rooms..." He nearly fell over when Lyrik called him out. "Irk-! Alright! Alright already!.. I doubt they'd have even missed them.." He hastily, and grumpily placed them back on the deck. "There. Are you happy now?" It was strange, and probably not apparent to Lyrik, but Ban found his personality refreshing. It kinda reminded him of someone he knew back home that at times had acted as his moral compass. Not being an openly sentimental person, he wasn't likely to ever mention this outloud. That optimism though.. and that desire to do the right thing.. and yeah the naivete and innocence was a part of that feeling too.

Corseltel didn't quite have annual flooding. They might on occasion have excess of snow melt but that was due to fussy seasonal fairies who didn't know when to pack up and leave. Thankfully not a common occurrence!
"Oh no sir, I'm not full grown. I'm only six years old! We do mature differently though, even between dragon types."
At least Ban puts the coins back, and from the smile on his face, Lyrik is indeed happy. He nodded. "Good, thank you! I guess...we can find a box to put these in and ask the crew who might be missing something."

There was no denying that water often had a disastrous impact on the country Ban had been residing in.
Japan... but there was also no denying the wonders of mother nature. It had a way of balancing itself, and struck without malice. Unlike many of his own species. He still held a respect for the natural processes."Six? Really?" That was awfully young to be abducted from one's home. Good thing Himiko wasn't here.. whenever the subject of kidnapping came up she could get quite .. well... frightening beyond all reason. She'd do anything to help reunite a kid with their loved ones. "That's true of any species-" Speaking about mental maturity versus actual age here. "How many types of dragons are there?"
He definitely didn't want to. "Don't thank me for something like this.." Something where I don't make a profit. "Yeah- I guess... make a regular lost and found." He spied something in there that he thought he recognized. "I think this bottle might have come from Harlock's room..." He remembered seeing it in there when the boys had gathered to drink away their troubles. "Maybe we should have a look there..."
no subject
Lyrik nodded. Yup. Six. He didn't feel all too awkward about admitting it, but then he was the youngest of the current helpers, so it was something he was used to. "There are seven! Earth, fire, wind, water, wood, darkness and light dragons," he explained.
"Ah, you think it might be the captain's?" He nodded. "I guess it doesn't hurt to have a look."
no subject
You're making me look bad. "Don't forget to challenge yourself too.. just going over the material you know isn't going to help you grow."This was starting to sound like an rpg with all those elements. "That's quite an assortment..."
"This bottle? Definitely. It used to sit on one of his shelves, over his desk." Standing up to his full height, he found an empty crate they could dump the stuff in first. He handed it to Lyrik like "here, you do it".... After they put the stuff safely away, he could lead the way to the captain's cabin. "Might give us a clue"
no subject
...and for the record, yes Ban, he did do all his chores- and probably picked up on whatever Ban didn't do by way of them.
"I...guess that's true. But then being here's been a challenge in itself. I've never been away from Elle before, or outside of Corseltel, let alone been at sea..."
Taking the crate, the dragon began to put the various items into it before he stood back up, arms hugging around it. "Okay, let's get going."
no subject
I told you!
Lyrik probably did have to pick up the slack for Ban on several occasions. There was no denying that Ban was not an exemplary crew member. During an altercation, he always tried to look out for the others- but the day to day routine... that was touch and go.“So this Elle.. is some kind of dragon instructor?” Being ripped away from his home and sent on an adventure like this would undoubtedly throw all sorts of trials at the young dragon. “For the record- I've been on the sea before but that was on a different sort of vessel and it wasn't for an extended period of time. In this place, we're all being driven to do things we normally wouldn't.”
Ah- it was so nice to have someone so willing just to
do the menial tasks Ban liked to avoid. He waited for Lyrik to finish up before heading down below. “Just stow that stuff in the corridor or something.. we won't need it where we're going.”no subject
"Ah, yes! Well, she's my dragon mage. There's one for each dragon type- and then there's Maciel, who watches one of each type...and Agrina, who's apprentice to the fire dragon mage. They're the only humans in Corseltel, so seeing so many around here is also pretty strange."
Lyrik nodded though. Being in a place like this seemed to push everyone to some limit or another by way of experiences.
He followed after, head tilting at the suggestion. "Would that be okay? What if someone dumps them overboard again?"
no subject
"It's up to you if you want to carry it all day.." Ban answered casually. "You could hide it.. but I'm guessing not all of these things were in plain view to begin with."
When they reached Harlock's quarters, Ban flung open the door without knocking. Ink was splattered everywhere....
no subject
Lyrik adjusted his grip around the crate, nodding at Ban. "I think I'm fine with carrying it for now. Otherwise it would be terrible if someone were to just throw them away before we found where they should all go. Someone really did go through a lot of trouble to find these, though, don't you think?"
Following along, he was about to say something as Ban seemed to decide that it was fine inviting themselves inside Harlock's. Instead, he gaped as he caught a glimpse of the inside. It was like an inkwell had exploded, but even that couldn't have been responsible for the absolute mess around the room in general. And who would do such a thing to a bed?!
"Wh-" Lyrik shook his head in disbelief. "What in the world happened in here?!"
no subject
"Suit yourself, boy scout." You earned a nickname, or.. another one if "squirt" counts. "Yeah- there's a lot of it. It had to have taken them some time to amass it".
"I think we've found the trail..." Ban shook his head. GLAD THAT IT WASN'T HIS ROOM. It even got a little chuckle out of him. "Harlock's gonna love this, if he hasn't seen it already."
no subject
"Wow..." Buildings that tall? Not even Maciel's home was that tall, and it was partially built into a tree! He was a little lost on the carriages, since transportation in general was done by foot around Corseltel, although perhaps the wooden carts used by the kobolds to deliver goods would have been a closer comparison. Although all in all, Lyrik found that at the end of the attempt, he still had no idea what to make of Ban's homeworld.
If he hadn't felt that Ban was making fun of him somehow with the nickname, he might not have had a problem with it. Still, the dragon had already made up his mind.
"This is terrible! Why would anyone do something like this?? Nothing's going to be able to remove the ink stains!"
