[As soon as the sun did not rise on the 1st, like others had suggested it would, Gan Ning wanted off Isla Empieza. He put out the call to his crew - get on the ship, leave no man behind. Or woman, Cynthia.

The storm hit while they were two days out from the island. It would take all hands on deck to keep the Nightfury from capsizing, good thing they have a couple of solid dragons to keep things in check. Just watch out for Gaius and his fiery pendant! By the time the storm blows out in the wee hours on the 4th, the charts put them drifting near to Eternal Bliss. Are the residents still pissed at pirates for what Kodachi did? Who cares, they need to land to make repairs. And maybe score some treasure, if anyone wants to go through the marriage requirement.

[Toothless watches the boy, and when it seems that he's eased up from his own tension, the dragon moves a little closer. His bright green eyes do flick to that wand- what a curious weapon!- but since it's been lowered, the dragon takes it as a good sign.

Once he gets within several feet of Draco, the dragon begins to circle this new person before he pauses in front of the boy, sniffing at him.]

[Tenses up again when the dragon starts circling around him, but he forces the wand to stay lowered. It's fine, it's fine... The bloody thing is just curious, and this is why he came here, after all.

Another moment or so goes by and Draco is still unharmed, so he lets out the breath he didn't realize he was holding and looks more closely at the dragon. He's certainly never been this close to one before!

He holds up his empty hand, palm toward Toothless, but doesn't do anything other than that. It's a thing with dogs, isn't it? Let them smell you? Since Toothless was sniffing him anyway.]

...Do I have to bow to you or anything?

[OH BOY HANDOUTS OMNOMNO-

The dragon looks up at Draco, meeting his eye before he looks at the hand that's held out to him. By now Toothless has figured that this is some odd human custom in which to gain or show trust of some kind.

He pushes his snout against the extended palm after a closer sniff, giving it a slight nudge.]

[Sniffing he was ready for. The nudge? Not so much, and he makes a surprised sound that turns into a short, startled laugh as he jerks his hand back a bit.]

Merlin, are you sure you're a dragon? You're nothing at all like what I was expecting.

[He reaches out again, tentatively, to pat Toothless on the nose once. THOUGH HE IS READY IN CASE OMNOMNOMING HAPPENS. And the he laughs again, more in disbelief this time.]

Wow. Which one are you, then? You look like the one from that drawing, so Toothless, I assume. A name which makes no sense for a dragon, I'll have you know.

[See, humans can be taught! Toothless will probably rate Draco's patting as a 2, but he can still tell that the kid's a little nervous.

He gives a brief grunt, perhaps in confirmation, or at least he responds to the name. The dragon sits back, his mouth quirking at either end to show Draco just why he's called Toothless as he mimics a smile.]

[Blinks, then his eyes go wide a bit and he leans forward to peer at Toothless' mouth.]

...Well, that's odd. Though I suppose it explains... But you're a carnivore, aren't you? What kind of dragon doesn't have teeth?

[Oh! Draco wants to see his teeth! Well, why didn't he say so? Don't blink, because they pop right out at that, the dragon twisting his head back and forth as he opens and closes his mouth playfully, bwahbwahbwah!]

[Hops back a step with another startled sound, but then he's right back to staring in amazement.]

What on earth... That's unbelievable! What could possibly be the point of having teeth that you're able to just...just retract like that?

[Curiosity quickly takes over and he closes the distance between them again to get another look. He's never seen a dragon quite so expressive, either.]

You're certainly interesting, there's no denying that.

[Making a sound that suspiciously resembled laughter, the dragon sits back but holds still long enough to oblige Draco a closer look of his teeth before he makes them vanish again. Licking his chops, Toothless wiggles a bit in place, evidently happy to be around someone who isn't afraid to be curious of him.]

[He settles back himself after that, propping his hands on his hips and giving Toothless an appraising look.]

I have a hard time believing you're full-grown. The dragons in my world are...

[Stands on his toes and lifts his arms up, making a wide arc with them.]

Much bigger. [Then he drops his arms again.] But then I've really only ever seen them when they're adults. I saw a baby once, but that was years ago.

[It hasn't escaped his notice that he's having an entire one-sided conversation with Toothless, but... Dragon. That's friendly. It's brilliant! He gives him a bright grin.]

My name means dragon, you know. I'm Draco.

[Toothless tilts his head at that, his eyes glancing this way and that as Draco demonstrated. He shifts about where he sits, bringing his wings out a bit. He can be big! Wingspan counts, right?

Still, Draco's not making fun or anything. He looks positively giddy. And sure, Toothless doesn't know for sure what he's going off about, but he's got words like 'name' and 'dragon' down, pat. Draco, huh?]

[Gives a soft laugh.]

Yes, I know you have wings. I imagine you use them well, too.

[Steps around to the side of Toothless so he can be all nosy about his wings now! Though he makes sure he stays where Toothless can see him.]

Can I touch them? Er. [Shakes his head.] ...I probably shouldn't act as though you can actually understand me. Even though you sort of seem to. Maybe that's what happens when you spend a lot of time around humans.

[The dragon keeps his wings partially extended, his head turning to watch as Draco makes his way around him. He can tell there's a question there, and from the attention Draco gives his wings, Toothless can kind of figure what he might be asking. Maybe. Going for a fly is a bit out of the question without Hiccup.]

[Toothless doesn't make any move to shy away from him and he doesn't look like he's about to bite Draco's head off, so he takes that as permission to reach out and carefully run his hand over the edge of one of Toothless' wings.]

My mother would have a fit if she knew I was petting a dragon. You're very powerful, after all, aren't you? Even if you are a bit small.

[Just like a big ol' bat! Toothless gurbles smugly, sitting there as he watches Draco check out his wings.]

[Laughs, craning his head back around to grin at Toothless.]

I didn't even know dragons could make sounds like that.

[Keeps running his hand over his wing. Just because. Touching a dragon. Ha!]

Say, where's your keeper? If that's even what one would call him. Your human, I suppose. Hiccup.

[Still the most bizarre name. 8|]

[Too bad you haven't heard the names of the rest of the gang, Draco.

But upon hearing his Viking kid's name, Toothless gets up. Oh, he wants to see Hiccup? Well, the boy shouldn't be too hard to track.]

[TOO BAD INDEED, he wouldn't even know what to do with all those.

Draco steps back when Toothless rises, eyebrows arching. He recognizes the name, does he? Merlin's beard...]

You, my friend, are fantastic.

[Much better than a bloody hippogriff. He wants one. ~~brb asking Lucius for a pet dragon.~~]

[The dragon starts along, pausing to glance back at Draco to see if he's going to tag along.

~~lol yes Draco you do that~~]

[Yup, he's there! Looking impressed that Toothless is even checking for him at all. He grins, making a sweeping "after you!" sort of gesture with his arm.]

[Okay good then. Toothless continues along, off to check out Hiccup's usual haunt.]

[Aw yeah, usual haunt is go. Wherever that is.

But Hiccup is there, doing things. Because pirate.

Actually, he's trying to draw up a new design for Toothless' tailfin. Being so caught up in his work, he doesn't realize that his dragon friend is bringing over a wizard friend.]

[Ambling along after Toothless, hands clasped together behind his back as he looks curiously around at the ship. He notices the boy Toothless is leading him toward after a moment, and since there's no one else around, assumes this must be Hiccup.]

Is that him?

[Toothless gives a confirming growlf before he bounds over beside the Viking kid to peer over a shoulder.]

[Upon hearing a distant voice, the viking blinks. Huh. Maybe he's going crazy.

Only when he hears the heavy thumps and feels someone looking over his shoulder does he look up, his bulb nose bumping into the side of Toothless' wide head.]

–Ow. Hey, bud! That's a little close there!

[Hiccup reaches up to push and pat the dragon's head, laughing a bit.]

You sound excited. What's going on– [Cue green eyes glancing over at Draco. A lopsided grin is given.] –oh, um, hey there!
