[As soon as the sun did not rise on the 1st, like others had suggested it would, Gan Ning wanted off Isla Empieza. He put out the call to his crew - get on the ship, leave no man behind. Or woman, Cynthia.

The storm hit while they were two days out from the island. It would take all hands on deck to keep the Nightfury from capsizing, good thing they have a couple of solid dragons to keep things in check. Just watch out for Gaius and his fiery pendant! By the time the storm blows out in the wee hours on the 4th, the charts put them drifting near to Eternal Bliss. Are the residents still pissed at pirates for what Kodachi did? Who cares, they need to land to make repairs. And maybe score some treasure, if anyone wants to go through the marriage requirement.

[Lea hasn't really stopped blushing, but at least it's a little fainter now. He wraps his arms around Roxas' waist and hugs him close. Nothing wrong with a little comfort, right?]

Yeah, that's exactly what it was like. Like someone reached right into our heads and figured out what we'd be the most scared of and made us live it for a few days. I don't think I ever wanna meet whoever it is that does this stuff.

[He rests his head on Lea's shoulder, nodding a bit.]

It worked. I'm...so scared.

[Roxas swallows and he looks up at Lea with a little frown.]

Are you scared too? Did you have a nightmare?

[Now that he's not having a complete meltdown, he can focus on other things.]

I'm fine. It's all over now, right? Time to stop worrying about that stuff.

[Roxas may be looking at Lea, but Lea isn't looking at Roxas. That alone should be enough to fill in the blanks of what he's not saying. He doesn't want to burden Roxas with any more of his issues than is strictly necessary. He's unloaded enough on him as it is.]

[And Roxas unloads everything on Lea when he's asked. He frowns a little, smoothing his fingers through his hair some more.]

Yeah, maybe, but you can tell me what you're scared of. I won't tell anyone...maybe I can make you feel better. I mean...I cried all over you, so...

[Roxas can at least return the favour.]

[Lea gives him a stricken look. He knows Roxas means well, but he really doesn't want to talk about it. Saying it out loud makes it more real somehow and that's the last thing he needs.]

It's fine. I'm fine. I really am, I promise. Don't worry about it.

[He leans heavier against Lea and nuzzles his neck.]

Okay Lea. If you're fine.

[He isn't sure if Lea is being honest, but it's alright, he can just be there and cling to him. Maybe that will be enough to make him feel better.]

It's okay if you're not though...I'm not.

[Lea just nods. He doesn't really know if he's okay or not. In a way, it really is like a nightmare that seems horrible when it's happening but less and less so after you wake up and reality sinks in. At the same time, though, there's a sort of lingering horror about it all that's not likely to leave him any time soon. He's already caught himself repeatedly checking to make sure people's eyes are normal. It's embarrassing.]

I know, I know.

[He sighs. That didn't come out right. Roxas has every right to be scared and every right to be worried about him.]

I just don't want to think about it too much is all.

Yeah. We shouldn't think about it.

[Roxas snuggles again, sighing contently in Lea's arms.]

I'll try not to anyway. It comes around sometimes.

[He hangs his head a little.]

I'm kind of scared to go to sleep. I'm not sure I did that at all while I was thinking I was gone.

You're always scared to sleep for one reason or another. Makes me feel guilty about wanting to take naps sometimes.

[He files that away for future reference, though. He needs to make sure Roxas gets some sleep or he's going to get sick and crazy on them and nobody wants that.]

Make sure you go to bed early tonight, okay?

I'll try and remember to.

[It's the least he could do at this rate. He sighs softly against Lea's neck.]

You don't have to feel bad. I guess I just dream a lot and it's always weird or scary, but it's always easier when you're with me. I don't know how that works.

Probably because you sleep better that way. That subconscious of yours actually turns off for a while.

[He nudges him a little.]

Don't know how you manage it with me elbowing you all the time, but if it works...

[It's why he's let Roxas cram himself into his hammock, after all. If it works, it works.]

Yeah, maybe. Maybe you're keeping me from sleeping to deeply, or I can just tell you're there to you know... [He blushed again. Curse this new reaction!]

Watch over me I guess.

[It's funny, considering how shamelessly Roxas usually says things like this. Maybe things are starting to sink in a little more. Lea gives him a kiss on the forehead.]

You can count on it. Not like I have much of a choice in the matter, anyway. You get sulky when you have sleep on your own.

[He smiles and relaxes, pulling Lea's arms tighter around him.]

I'm used to sleeping with you now. I don't want to sleep apart from you. I guess if you're going to complain too much...

[He sighs contently.]

But I won't leave you anyway, cause I love you. Guess you're stuck with me in your bed.

Guess so. I can live with that.

[Roxas can get a bit clingy, yeah, and he can be high maintenance some of the time, well, a lot of the time, but Lea can handle it.]

So first step is sleep, then maybe I'll be able to get you to eat your veggies. Then maybe we can get something done about that skateboard.

[Not a whole lot of hope for that, but...]

[He stretches up, leaning back to grab another piece of bread before settling back in more comfortably again.]

I don't know about that, but I'm gonna eat another piece of bread. It's pretty good.

[He takes a bite and pouts at Lea.]

What's wrong with my skateboard?

It's noisy.

[He doesn't care if it makes him sound like an old man. It's not like he doesn't approve of fun or something, but the sound those wheels make feels like it's scraping away the insides of his brain and driving him slowly insane.]

Really, really noisy.

I could teach you some really cool tricks!

[He grins and shrugs. He's oblivious to the noise it makes and is fine like that. He took another bite of the bread.]

Lea...I'm...just...I'm glad you're here, okay?

Yeah, I know.

[He understands, too, and he knows exactly what Roxas means without him having to say it. It's rough, what they have to deal with, what they're going to have to return to, but for now they have each other and it makes it just a little easier to survive. It's been that way as long as they've known each other.]

I'm always gonna be here.

[He pokes him in the side.]

As long as that skateboard isn't.

[He lets out a squeak at being poked there and a light giggle.]

I know you are. You're always here when I need you.

[He nuzzles his neck.]

Come on, you'll like the skateboard if you just played with it.

No I won't! That thing drives me nuts!

[He's adamant on that one. Sure, it would probably be a lot of fun, but he'd need earplugs or he'd slowly go insane. Or maybe not even slowly.]

I don't even wanna think about it.

Fine, you don't have to play with it then.

[He rolls his eyes at Lea.]

I haven't been on it in awhile I think. I'm still reading that book that you don't like because it's for school. It was for you, anyway. I'm almost done though! It's really weird.

Yeah, I don't know how you can read that stuff and not fall asleep right away.

[Reading isn't exactly Lea's thing. He reads cookbooks for work, of course, but reading for pleasure isn't exactly something that's ever caught on with him. It's too much like work and he'd rather find something more fun to do with his time.]

I'd keel over and die or something.

[Roxas laughs lightly.]

You wouldn't die. I'm gonna find some more next island we go to. Wanna help me find some cool stuff?

As long as it's not boring books.

[He's always up for a little exploring, but no way is he getting himself dragged around secondhand bookstores or anything like that. A guy has his limits.]
