There Are More Things in Heaven and Earth

Who: Everyone involved in Death Day
Where: Noctem
When: January 21st-25th
What: Taking on Hawtrey, destroying shrines, and raiding his supplies. Surviving Noctem...or not. With a good dose of nightmares in between.
Warnings: Language. Violence. Trauma. It's an island of nightmares. Expect the worst.
Status: Open to all.
Killing Hawtrey seems to come first and foremost. The shrines can wait until after. We'll see if the wind blows fair or ill on that decision (on the 25th).
For now, the descriptions should tell you all you need to know. If not? Feel free to check / ask here.

How about this-?!
[Again the lightning sigil flares, and the bolt of energy crackles as it slams towards Orochi. Not even waiting for the light to die down, Gaius is already springing with his blade bared, he tries to strike close to Orochi's head. There's little other open place to do so given how much armor the guy's got on him.]

It's pretty clear by now that as long as they can keep from being hit, all they have to do is get inside his guard and hit him, as many times as they can, whether with magic or a blade. Gan Ning is less than graceful with his hit, and sort of lands on Orochi's back. Even better! Now he can reel in the scythe from the end of the chain and hack right at his enemy's neck.]

He'll take advantage of that split attention, aiming for another blast of fire to the face since he doesn't want to endanger Gan Ning with a lightning spell.]

As his energy runs out and his speed returns to normal, Ning slides across the dirt and manages to scoop up River Master from where he left it. He takes a moment to catch his breath, hoping Gaius can get another hit in before he follows it up with one of his own with his blade.]

He drops down into a crouch- good if coincidental timing as Gan Ning begins to run circles around Orochi, and once he realizes what's being done, Gaius rolls out of the way so he won't get accidentally tangled up as well. Seeing Gan Ning slow down, Gaius springs back into action, glad he was able to catch his breath.
Whispering the last few words of the lightning spell, he sends it arcing towards Orochi, trusting Gan Ning to take that cue for a follow-up.]

So maybe Gan Ning lets out a bellow of his own as he brings the sword down to cut through the plates at Orochi's shoulder. It's not a finishing move like he wanted, but it's definitely a mortal blow. He begins to leap backward to escape, but Orochi grabs him again, and this time hangs onto him as he summons that halo of dark energy one more time. Gan Ning can't even get out the curse on his lips before he's zapped a second time and blown back across the rocky ground.]

For a brief moment he's a wisp of shadow, and in the blink of an eye he's suddenly bearing down upon Orochi with the edge of his blade pressing for the fiend's neck.]

But it's just what they need. Orochi isn't used to people getting inside his guard, particularly with weapons bared. He's too slow to throw Gaius off, particularly without the use of his scythe, and the blade cuts deep. At long last, the creature masquerading as Ning's worst nightmare begins to bubble and fade into wisps of shadow, melting away into the fog.]

-hey, Jingles, can you hear me?
no subject
Ya got 'im, right?

...think so. Unless disappearing into a mist is one of his tricks.
[Which just makes him glance back where he last saw the guy.]

[he pries himself up off the ground just a hair, squinting up at Gaius. He's pretty shredded, though the magic damage isn't quite as obvious as the cuts and scratches all across his shirtless torso.]
Shit. I wanna keep movin', make sure the others didn't run into anything at the shrine...
no subject
Sure you're up for that just yet? The way up doesn't get any easier.
no subject
[if only his legs would cooperate. It's going to take a few minutes to get the feeling back in them.]
no subject
Well. Whenever you're ready then.
[He'll help drag you on up once you can stand, Gan Ning- at least, however best he can. You're still a lot meatier than him.]

princess-carry him GaiusHe doesn't want to wait, so numb extremities or not, Ning struggles to get up as best he can before leaning on Gaius. He'll take the assistance, so long as he can get to the shrine and make sure none of his beloved crew are killed by monsters.]
no subject
No way you'll break his backAt least he's probably gotten some practice supporting him when drunk? Just that they weren't on a rocky incline.]
