     The good-natured interruption disrupted his concentration, a glob of water dropping from where it had been in the progress of floating halfway over the rim of the bucket that it had been pulled from. Blinking, Lyrik glanced at the woman, offering her a smile.

     "Ah, yes! The StrawHats were kind enough to let me join them. The captain and last of my original crew finally disappeared recently, you see..." He turned around, holding his mop aside as he gave her a polite bow. "I'm Lyrik. It's nice to meet you, miss...?"

She gives off a beaming smile as she replies. "Lorelai. It's good to meet you too Lyrik"

She pauses for a second. "I'm sorry to hear about your crew. That must have been horrible."

     "Miss Lorelai. What a pretty name!" His smile however wavered just a little at the subject of his old crew.

     "It was hard...at first we lost almost half, and then finally it was just me and the captain. The ship we sailed was about the same size as this, and Captain Harlock disappeared before we were able to get a smaller one..."

     The young dragon shook his head. "Mm, anyway, I'm thankful for being invited here," he continued, forcing a smile.

She saw the dip in his mood as soon as he spoke of his old crew. She put his arm around his shoulder and gave a little squeeze.

"I'm sorry Lyrik. I know it must be hard losing all your friends like that. But we'll be here for you."

     "Thank you, Miss Lorelai," Lyrik replied, his smile softening. His cheeks reddened just a touch at the gesture, but he appreciated both that and the words offered.

"There is no need for the Miss kiddo. We're crewmates." she replied with a smile. "I'm sure you'll get along fine."

     He supposed he shouldn't be surprised. None of the others had cared much for it either, so the dragon nodded. "I hope so. It's a lot different than the Triton's Mistress crew, but everyone seems nice."

"They are a fun group of idiots" she replied with a smile on her face. "When I landed on this ship last month they treated me like crew no matter how many times I insisted I wasn't."

     "Heh, that's an interesting way to describe them," Lyrik laughed. "That's good to know. And so far everyone's been pretty easy to talk to."

Lorelai chuckles. "Yep, You'll fit in here just fine." She stops for a second. "So, tell me a little bit about yourself.

     Lyrik nodded. "About myself? Hmm... Well, I guess to start with, I'm a water dragon. I've lived in Corseltel for all my life, which is a secluded land where dragons are brought to be raised and learn how to control their magic. The most humans I've ever been around are the dragon mages, so being around here has been quite strange...!"

"Oh! So that explains what was happening with the water" she replies happily. "There were dragons in my world too. Although they didn't have magic like you."

     "Ah, so you saw, then. That's right," he said with a quick grin. "From what I've heard from the few others who said dragons live in their worlds too, it doesn't seem like any are quite the same as where I'm from."

"Yeah on mine they are usually ridden by the different clans who could communicate with them. it was a lifelong bond between a dragon and it's rider." she said with a smile on her face.

     "Ridden? Oh- I guess they don't adapt a human form then," Lyrik considered, stroking his chin.

     "That's interesting though. In Corseltel, an egg or a freshly hatched dragonling is brought to one of the seven dragon mages dwelling in the land, according to their elemental magic. They can receive several dragons to raise during their time as mage, but it varies. Elle has four water dragons now, counting me, for instance. And Maciel, well he has seven, but he's a special case, heh."

"Yeah, I've never seen a dragon able to adopt human form. Even as dragons they were able to communicate well though. You might not have understood them but you still knew what they were saying most of the time."

     "I guess there's always other ways to communicate," Lyrik conceded, nodding.

"true" she responds with a smile on her face. "Especially the Dragon Horses of Falena. Those guys swimming the rivers were incredible to watch."

[chasing_waterfalls]

     "Dragon horses?" That was definitely a new one. "I guess your world has a lot of different types of dragons too."

"A lot of different dragons and a lot of different races of people too. Everyone should see the Nay-Kobold, they are cat people and shape their homes like cat heads. It's almost annoyingly adorable."

     Lyrik's brows lifted at that. "Ah, we have no Nay-Kobolds as you mentioned, but we do have Kobolds. And then there are sprites, spirits and winged folk."

"We have winged people as well. The Wingers of two rivers were incredible people. Even though they were horribly oppressed they still stood up for their city." She replied with a smile. "They were the true heroes of one of the hardest battles I've ever been a part of."

     "Battles...Were there a lot of those?" he asked. "And...have you been in many with this crew? I've heard that they enjoy getting into fights." Not something Lyrik was certain that he looked forward to.

"I've been keeping the treasures of my people safe from plunderers my whole life which led to me fighting in 3 wars at this point. I've seen a lot of suffering but the right side always won." She replies with a somber tone. "Luffy reminds me a bit of some of the men I've followed. It's why I feel like I can trust the people here with my life."

     "Oh..." Three wars.. Lyrik couldn't imagine how it would be. Fights here, yes, but of wars back home, there was only one big one he'd read about that involved dragons and the beast people.

     "The last war the dragons had ever been in was over hundreds of years ago..." And when it came to fights, there really weren't any in Corseltel. The most conflict within recent years had probably been when the general of the winter sprites had challenged Maciel to a duel.
