Meep Manhunt!

Who: Anyone who expressed interest in going after Meep and received a letter from Scurvey Dog.
Where: Anygrav Moon
When: August 9th-22nd
What: The mission begins! Dog asked for help rescuing Meep and it's you lot who've responded. Try to bring him back in one piece, eh?
Warnings: Possible violence...?

Status: Closed to those involved!

The island is covered by a familiar mist that rolls across the ground. Fortunately for you, it's not going to bring nightmares to life this time, but it definitely lends to the general feeling of unease that fills the place. That isn't helped by the fact that though the population here was never very large, it certainly must be even smaller now.

It's the dead, lifeless husks along the beach that make that much obvious.

There's no sign of battle, and all the bodies appear unmarked. It's as though they suddenly dropped right where they were standing, as if something completely and abruptly drained them of energy.

Watch your step as you make your way inland. Wouldn't it be a shame if the same thing happened to you?

[The viking nods.]

[He then gets distracted with Toothless' scales. Pet pet pet.]

You guys wanna....

-okay, never mind. I'll hold on to these for now.

[He wanders over towards the top of the pyramid, stooping over to brush some of the sand away. Frown.]

...well, if there's something below, we're going to need some help to clear this, even with a dragon here. Any idea where the Straw Hats went? And maybe if we can get Sweets and whatever Pokemon she's still got with her...

[prowls slowly through the sand, because it feels like it's bucking like waves. ugh. Tripping balls isn't as fun as it sounds.]

Below? Ugh. We'd be digging forever. Always digging, never getting anywhere... [his eyes sort of cross] ...it's like life, yanno? Ya keep digging, but it keeps falling back on your head, so you never get anywhere.

Think Cyn can do it?

[Finally spitting out the last of the sand that lingered in his mouth, Hiccup nods as he looks up from Toothless' side.]

I believe in Cynthia! And her merry pokemon crew. With them and Toothless' blasts, we'll be done in no time!

[Actually, he just wants to see everything explode now. Hopefully nothing explodes too much, though.]

The more the merrier. I'm not seeing anything else around here otherwise, but unless the other guys found something else within this place, this is the only thing we have left to check out.

[He shoots Hiccup a look, and then shakes his head frantically at the dragon who looks ready to do some exploding at the Viking's word.]

Whoa- no blasting around here. You wanna bring the whole place down on us?

....so how're we gonna get her here? We fell up when we came through that door, I dunno if we can go back the same way.

[hopefully she follows them? Otherwise Gan Ning's got nothing.]

Aww, disappointment.

[Hiccup pouts, patting Toothless on his nose.]

Sorry, bud. No explosions right now. Maybe later.

But yeah, this isn't good! We should've carried a ladder. O-or something.

[After tiring out his brain with thinking, the viking lets his arms drop. His whole body sort of crumples in a pile.]

...Man, it's too bad we don't have wings to fly with.

[................]

You know, we could just-

..............

[And then he just facepalms.]

[it takes him a few seconds too, because he's too busy being distracted by the prisms of light surrounding everyone and everything. The sand itself is so sparkly he can't look at it.

But then Gan Ning slowly swings around and raises a hand to point at Toothless like he's the first person to even think it.]

.........wait, what about Toothles?

[Blink.]

What about Toothless?

[...

Liiiiiiightbulb.]

Oh– OH. What about Toothless! I can fly him out here in a jiffy! That's why you guys were looking at me funny! Hah! Genius, good job everyone.

Gee, that's a great idea. Why didn't I think of it.

[Said in the flattest monotone possible.]

[applause!]

Go get Cyn! Let's see if any o' her guys can dig out the sand an' find the Meep.

[hurrhurrhurrdurr Meep hurr]

[SEE MEEP SEE YOUR MIGHTY RESCUERS. Gaius, don't make that face, be like Gan.]

Yeah! I will go and fetch Cynthia!

[Fist pump. Look at that face of determination.

Hiccup scuttles to his feet, hopping onto the dragon's back.]

Okay, bud, let's do this! HICCUP, AWAY!!

[Toothless isn't sure you should be driving, Hiccup, but at least it isn't a far way to go?

The dragon seems to hesitate, and then moves to bound towards the narrow doorway- hopefully Hiccup ducks. Then it's back through the key room and leap up- or down or whatever direction that is.]

Aaand they're off.

[Gaius watches, wincing as they get to the doorway. He then shrugs and sits down on the sand and pulls out a lollipop, dusting it off a bit before tugging off the wrapper so he can stick the sucker into his mouth.]

[flops down next to him to wait]

Y'ever wonder what it's all about? Like...why do men have nipples? It's not like we even use 'em...

[Yup, Hiccup has his helmet on again, don't worry. HE'S PREPARED.

...MEANWHILE:

With Toothless taking the reins, Hiccup is along for the ride. Somehow, he's able to still act as co-pilot, acting a little less loopy now that he's trying to focus on flying.]

[MEANWHILE MEANWHILE...]

[Gaius is just going to...look at Gan Ning before pulling over his own mask.

PLEASE TOOTHLESS, COME BACK SOON.]

[MEANWHILE, IN SOME TENT AT BASE CAMP.

She was just there, eyes closed. Kind of trying to take a nap. Mostly worrying about her boys. Honestly, she should have just gone with them. But Arceus forbid, she knew she was better off here.]

[At least one of them knows how they got where they were, so even if Hiccup is less than coherent when it comes to steering, Toothless can still bound and leap and then glide once they do manage to get out of the temple thingy.

Gliding over the beach of bodies.

Gliding back to base camp.]

[HE'S DOING WHAT HE CAN, OKAY. But he's not bothered by all the jostling Toothless does.

One of the main things Cynthia may hear is his voice carrying over the expanse of bodies. Is that running commentary? Who knows.]

[Actually...was it? Cynthia opens one eye to check is she was hearing things or if that was actually her not so little boy Hiccup. She opens her other eye when she hears the familiar dragon sounds and whatever the hell Hiccup was saying about the bodies.

Then she dashes out of her tent to greet her boys and check if they needed anything and patching up. Though, she's not exactly trained to handle a high. Want some Doritos, Hiccup?]

[Toothless lands, shaking his head as he trots over towards the tent. He then takes a seat with the full intention of letting that loopy Viking boy fall off. Ugh, drunk drivers are the worst, Cynthia.]

[Oh, you know, it's just him literally trying to wake the dead. That isn't going to work, obviously, but don't tell his high mind that.

Upon the landing, Hiccup stumbles and tumbles off in a vikingly fashion, saluting Cynthia in greeting just as he pops off his half-turned helmet. Choppy hair sticks up everywhere.]

Cyn! Cynthia, I'm feeling...feeling alive! I'm fine, really. Mostly.

[Although Doritos sounds so good right now.]

HEY, yeah, I'm here for a reason. [Pause.] Hold on, it's coming back to me...
