PIRATES vs. NAVY BATTLE LOG

December 9th finds some new arrivals to this world, the same curious phenomenon that's been occurring for the past few months.

This time, however, the Navy is prepared -- or so they think.

They've got troops stationed around the island, and ships on the water to stop any arrogant, foolhardy pirates and would-be sailors from trying to make port.

So hit them with all you've got, but they're not going down easily...

BEFORE THE MADNESS - MILES OUT

[Ace could make the argument that sneaking into a man's house to steal from him was polite and he ought to be thankful that his front down wasn't blown down and the place burned before they had warning to run. He would also argue that, from time to time, it was just plain fun.

Sneaking around on a ship, though--while he could still argue it was courteous--was exceptionally difficult. They snuffed their lanterns and started their route towards the patrols, looking to sneak between them. If they were caught, Ace's strike force would play dead, pretending to just be a runaway vessel, already raided. The Navy wouldn't fuss. They would take whatever supplies they needed.

Ace's plan counted on the Navy finding them--not another pirate vessel. Plain as day, he didn't expect anyone to be as crazy as he was, going towards a noted blockade.]

[The captured navy ship has unfortunately has come within sight of the Triton's Mistress while she's in the processes of launching long boats for the land based strike force. Even worse newly voted in Captain Hornblower was in one of the already launched boats and halfway to shore leaving their resident space pirate in temporary command.]

Patrol! We can't let them realize what we're doing. Come about and head towards the harbor. Boris get the starboard side guns ready. Load the chain shot!

[Artemis isn't sure why he should bother being surprised about being thrown into combat, but it is unnerving that he doesn't have his usual friends to take care of all the fighting for him - a bodyguard that's the size of a bear, and a trigger-happy fairy who can knock out anyone's lights with a single punch.

Knock out anyone's lights? He's resorting to bland jokes; they're definitely in trouble now. At least he can attempt to make himself useful.]

What can I do?

[With a bored expression, Ace looked over the rail and towards the water, spotting movement and hearing voices a bit off. He noted the other ship, but the smaller vessels had caught his attention a bit more abundantly. He had to question the reasoning as to why on Earth their longboats were being loaded that far from shore.

Simply enough, his own motivation for being there had been answered. Infiltration. Clever, but he still wondered why he heard urgency in their voices. Urgency shouldn't have really, truly been felt until they got closer to the blockade.

Or, a Navy ship.]

...Ah. [To which Ace remembered what he was standing on.]

[Once Horatio got back he was going to suggest they start running drills. The plan had never been to take a Navy ship head on. What with the annoying matter of crew numbers. They didn't need to say to get the longboats. Having a ship to nav back to was more important.]
Take the helm and keep her steady unless i say so kid.
Boris when they come in range aim to take out the mast.

[ With the reduced crew the Navy boat was going to over take them easy. Though the Navy ship did look like she was handling a little off. She should have immediately headed towards them to demand they stop. Harlock squinted twards the deck of the other ship. He couldn't see anyone save one person on deck. Which was just strange.]

Elissa that lone crewmen on deck think you could hit him? I want to see something.

Elissa pulled her elaborate longbow and an arrow from her back and lightly pushed to her feet in the longboat with an easy grace. "I am out of practice, but this will provide a good test," she agreed as she nocked one of her elven arrows with its rifled fletching. Drawing back the bowstring to her jaw, the Grey Warden set her sights on the target, but her brows drew downward. "This is a Navy ship, but I am not at all certain that is a Navy sailor."

To test her theory, she nudged her bow just a bit to the right and released the arrow to hit near Ace rather than aiming directly at the man himself. His reaction ought to provide their answer.

With a solid 'phwunk', the arrow shot into the side of the ship's rail, right by his hand. While Ace heard the arrow's whistle before it landed, something about it didn't trigger his 'Observation'. Maybe it was just a warning shot. With arrows, though? He scowled his confusion, plucking the arrow from the deck.

In response, Ace held up the arrow on the flat of his palm and set it aflame. Ace's outline would become more clear, like a black silhouette panned in front of a flame. His fancy hat and mantle were likely easier to see, then. His answer lacked symbolism, rather than him simply saying with his actions, 'That's what I think of that.'

They had been looking for a reaction like that the locals didn't have powers. How rude someone's gotten their hands on a warship and was trying to slip in by pretending to be Navy. High Ranking by the looks of things

"Playing Navy? Let's help them look more convincing than they are with a little bit of battle damage. Fire!"

The chain shot is a little low and under powered (poor Boris is doing all that work on his lonesome) and takes out the railing sending shrapnel everywhere before hitting the secondary mast. At most it's been cracked.

Once again, Ace didn't feel the radiating desire to kill coming from the enemy ship. He squinted, watching as part of his mast was blown apart, sending bits of wood and metal in a number of directions--a small cone from the base. He didn't think twice about it. It wasn't as if it were his ship, really.

Still, he had to wonder if his Observation was working. Ace, dimming his flame, crossed his arms and stared at the other ship. After briefly focusing, his eyes made use of his 'Will' and he got a clearer look at the deck, lacking the need for a telescope. There, he saw Harlock's silhouette.

"...Are they tauntin' me or tryin' to make me run?"

This is 100% messing with the pirokinetic who's playing navy. If Ace could make out more than an outline he's see smirk on Harlock's face. Harlock did wonder which crew this was. While he does no Ace in passing this plan is way more cunning than what would be expected from his antics overheard on the journal.

You might be able to make him giving you a cocky little salute before ordering Boris to fire another salvo.

The Grey Warden watched in shock and disbelief at the actions of her fellow crewmembers. "HARLOCK! What in the Maker's name are you doing?! THAT IS NOT A NAVY SHIP! Did you not see what he did?!" bellowed Elissa in anger. "Belay that order to fire! DO NOT waste more shot on ALLIES!"

She was this close to pointing an arrow in the space pirate's direction. "Are you out of your MIND?"

As Harlock smirked and another shot landed on his stolen ship, Ace's silouette could be seen waving its fist. In the far distance, Ace could be heard yelling.

"Hey, asshole! Come over here and say that so I can kick your ass!"

Ace, nobody said anything.
