PIRATES vs. NAVY BATTLE LOG

December 9th finds some new arrivals to this world, the same curious phenomenon that's been occurring for the past few months.
This time, however, the Navy is prepared -- or so they think.
They've got troops stationed around the island, and ships on the water to stop any arrogant, foolhardy pirates and would-be sailors from trying to make port.
So hit them with all you've got, but they're not going down easily...
Sorry kids, Gaius ain't sticking around the fountain 8]
The first chance he saw, the thief made himself scarce, grabbing his belongings and slipping off into the nearest shadows the moment a distraction presented itself. It didn't seem to matter which way he headed for now- he had no idea where he was, although by the smell, he'd wager it was somewhere near the sea. ...which was baffling considering he was pretty sure that last he checked, the Shepherds hadn't been anywhere near a coast.
Gaius lay low behind a crumbling wall, listening as he hoped he'd found a moment's peace enough to figure out some things. Getting out of this place sounded like a nice option, for one.
He paused, eyes flicking askance as he heard a noise nearby, his hand falling over the hilt of the iron sword he carried behind him at his waist. "....."
Have a familiar face, Gaius.
Stopping only once she was sure it was pretty safe to do so, she relaxed a bit, loosening the grip she had been holding on her sword a bit, a small clink sounding out as the tip of the blade touched ground. Of which caused her to tense up once more in an instant. Unfortunately, she has no idea she wasn't the only one nearby to hear the sound. Though she really hoped it didn't ring out too much to alert any soldiers that were still in the area.
hay gurl
Was it really...? He wasn't about to take any chances, so he moved to slip a hand over Olivia's mouth.
how you doin'
Attempting to calm herself enough, Olivia's free hand moved to grab at his arm while the other tightened on her sword once more. While she didn't really plan on using the weapon, just holding it was enough for her. A quick glance at what she could see told her that the other wa most likely not a soldier, even if she hadn't really stopped long enough to see the uniforms completely. And something about what she could see, and feel, seemed familiar...
On the plus side, she wasn't moving to attack or fully struggle just yet. Which was most likely for the best, considering everything that was currently going on elsewhere.

His smile faded as he looked around again, loosening his hand, and granted Olivia would let his arm go (and recognize him enough to cooperate), he'd try to steer her back behind whatever was left of the wall he'd found earlier. Be a little quick now; he thought he saw movement across the way and he wasn't going to chance it.

"Gaius, you're-"
As soon as she spoke up, she cut herself off upon being steered towards the wall, moving to duck down behind it as much as possible. Finally getting a better look at him, she let out a sigh and spoke up again, quiet enough so only he could hear.
"You could have said something. I thought you were one of those soldiers."
no subject
If not, well then...
"This place is crawling with those guys. I don't know what's up, but I figure it'd be bad to get caught by them."
no subject
"If we're to avoid getting caught, we probably shouldn't stay in one place for too long."
Of course, who knew where there were less of those soldiers.

Hopefully they could avoid any trouble, but it was good to see that at least Olivia was armed, even if her sword skills weren't exactly the best. Armed or not, Gaius wasn't shoving the poor girl out on the frontlines. All the more reason not to draw any attention- which was a little difficult when you were with someone like Olivia.
Well, she'd gotten this far without any problems. They could do this.
"Follow me, and stay close," the thief said as he turned.
no subject
She gave a nod in response, a determined look on her face. While it wasn't Robin or Chrom, Olivia honestly trusted that Gaius could get them both out and (hopefully) away from the rest of the soldiers. "Whenever you're ready then."

He wasn't sure what happened to this place, but it didn't allow for much cover given the mess. On the other hand, maybe that meant that people would be less likely to look around here. ....or not. He spotted a few soldiers, frowning behind the cowl of his cloak.
Okay then. The other way it was. It looked a little harder to get around for all the rubble, but there weren't any soldiers in that direction either.
