PIRATES vs. NAVY BATTLE LOG

December 9th finds some new arrivals to this world, the same curious phenomenon that's been occurring for the past few months.

This time, however, the Navy is prepared -- or so they think.

They've got troops stationed around the island, and ships on the water to stop any arrogant, foolhardy pirates and would-be sailors from trying to make port.

So hit them with all you've got, but they're not going down easily...

[King Shark raises his head, sniffing the air.]

I don't know. I don't smell anything fishy besides the two of us. The rest is just a bunch of other guys fightin' each other all over the place. Don't know if this is just about looks. This had to be goin' on long before we got here.

[Namur sniffs curiously. He smells plenty fishy things besides them, but that's also very likely due to being in close proximity to the ocean. And, admittedly, no ther fish- or merfolk.]

Huh.

How good's yer taste? Could y' smell 'em if they was fightin' in the harbor?

[Taste, smell. It's all kind of the same. This guy'll understand.]

Of course! I wouldn't be much of a shark if I couldn't do that much. But there's a big difference between some weak bait fish and guys like us. All I smell that's even close is the fish guts and fresh catch down at the harbor.

[He looks down as his stomach growls.]

On second though, maybe I should go down there anyway. I could use a snack and most of these guys don't look very tasty. Plus, people are full of preservatives and crap that doesn't taste good. At least back home.

[Namur be jelly. He can smell where the harbor is but not what's in it until he gets in the water. Then he can't smell what's above it 'til he surfaces. Oh well. At least he wound up with hair on his head.

Heading out to find some fish sounds like a good idea, though.]

Yeah, fish whine at y' less for eatin' 'em, too. Don't ruin yer meal with their blubberin'. Sheheh. What's yer name, bro? Call me Namur.

[He sticks his hand out to shake, quickly balls a fist and backstrikes a mook, then returns it to where it was.]

[King Shark isn't very used to trust. However, it's also the first time he ever met something at least mostly like himself. He's wary for a moment, then clasps hands with him.]

Well, sharks ain't much known for gettin' along with each other, but I guess it's good to meet you.

Sheheh seen plenty of 'em toleratin' each other. So long as there's plenty a food an' no girls 'tween us, ain't no reason t' have problems.

[He gives a quick pump with his webbed hand, then lets go.]

There's a hell of a fight goin' on that way.

[He nods his head toward the harbor.]

Maybe y'll get both a good meal an' a better fight.

There are some fresh catches on those boats. Sounds good to me.
