PIRATES vs. NAVY BATTLE LOG

December 9th finds some new arrivals to this world, the same curious phenomenon that's been occurring for the past few months.

This time, however, the Navy is prepared -- or so they think.

They've got troops stationed around the island, and ships on the water to stop any arrogant, foolhardy pirates and would-be sailors from trying to make port.

So hit them with all you've got, but they're not going down easily...

Well, if he gets in the way... I guess that's that. -She curbs how much it would satisfy her to give him a good jolt just for being the brat he is.- Still, I'd rather he not die if it can be helped.

I'll keep an eye out. It sounds like we're got our work cut out for us... I hope we can handle it. This is totally different than what we do at home, and it's a new experience for me.

Hmm. Modern girls your age have it easy. When I was fourteen, I'd already seen real battle.

Well, we've had to fight before, but... not like this. Not with so many people, and not with weapons that can hit us at such a great distance. When we fight, it's with people we can see, and where our fists do plenty enough damage to be a threat. The scale of this is all wrong, and that's what worries me.

Large scale battles like these were common place in the years leading up to Taishi-sama's years of peace. From my childhood until I was married to Taishi-sama, much of Japan was wrought with a religious war. Nothing naval, of course, but it was very real. I lost several relatives in the many battles that took place. -She just... neglects to mention that her father was hugely responsible for orchestrating the war.-

It's a shame you're having a rude awakening to it. But you seem capable. Worry not. All of you girls will survive this. I will assure that much.

[She wanted, so much, to ask what the hell had happened to her Japan. But now wasn't the time.] I'm sorry... I guess it bring up bad memories. I'd ask questions, but I don't think now is exactly a good time.

Still... you're right that this is something outside our depth. But we'll make it through. Thank you, for keeping an eye out for us.

[Standing elsewhere on deck, but close enough to eavesdrop accidentally overhear.

He clears his throat loudly.]

[Raises an eyebrow.]

Well, it is turning my hair into a frizzy disaster, but I believe in light of the circumstances I'll find a way to manage.

Good. Fussing over little things won't matter a great deal once we're being shot at.

Actually, I'm here because the captain asked for volunteers and if I have to engage in combat, I'm better one-on-one and not one-on-fifty million.

Yes, I'm sure that's why you willfully chose to stay with me as opposed to facing near certain death.

Au contraire, the 'with you' part was nearly enough to send me diving into the fray.
