PIRATES vs. NAVY BATTLE LOG

December 9th finds some new arrivals to this world, the same curious phenomenon that's been occurring for the past few months.
This time, however, the Navy is prepared -- or so they think.
They've got troops stationed around the island, and ships on the water to stop any arrogant, foolhardy pirates and would-be sailors from trying to make port.
So hit them with all you've got, but they're not going down easily...

[Maybe not all the people brought here by Davy Jones are pirates, but you don't get more "pirate" than Motochika Chōsokabe. It's not just the eyepatch, but the booming voice, flashy outfit, and swagger. He even has a parrot, though Pi-chan has been left behind to mind the ship.]
Though there are a few of us who get fool ideas in their heads like setting fire to islands and end up bringing down things like this on the rest of our heads. I thought I'd come ashore this month to greet the new arrivals and make sure you don't fall in with those hooligans.

[Not that that was the point at the moment. He only gives the man a questionable look at his appearance. That's no pirate he's ever seen before. But, the pirates he's seen have only been in picture books.
Still, Cross does see the parrot. Hmmmm...]
Wait, hang on a sec? Someone set fire to a place and that's why they're here?! Great. I'm gonna need to go talk to that person later.
And what's with this new arrival stuff? Ugh, know what. Tell me later. Now, what are we gonna do to stop these soldier people?

Beat the tar out of them until they see how outclassed they are and send them home with their tails between their legs. What other way is there?
[He shifts his anchor on his shoulders and scratches at his head.]
Of course, a man has to know his limits. Reach the end of them with nowhere to run to and you'll be in quite a bit of trouble.
no subject
Well, the other way would've been to talk it out. I think that ended when they decided to shoot though.
[Was that an anchor? That guy was carrying an anchor. Just how?
Cross scratches at his cheek at the other man's words. He...did have a good point. He was already running low on throwing knives and everything else.]
Yeah, okay, sure. But, what about the other people? I can't just not stop. They need help.
no subject
[He can't really boast about his crew, all three of them (not counting the parrot and the turkey), though he'll boast about himself endlessly. Not that he doesn't take pride in them, more like he doesn't really want to admit how few people he actually commands.]
1/2
[Being dropped into a whole new wherever kind of did that to a person.
Motochika's words do earn a smile from Cross. Whoever these people were, branded as pirates came to save everybody who just landed here?
Huh. Trustworthy or not, Cross wasn't seeing anything bad in these so called pirates.]
You guys came here just to rescue everybody in trouble? Talk about real heroes.
2/2
[Yeah, he'll just approach the taller man now. Cross was fairly certain he could trust this man. After all, a bunch of the other people he's met so far have been nothing but helpful to him.
So the smile switches to determination.]
Okay, so what's the plan, sir?
no subject
[Okay, so he's coming on a little strong there...]
no subject
As for a ride off this place? Yeah, I guess I could use a-wait-huh?
[Was he being extorted to join a ship crew? He's just going to give this man a looooong blank stare. When it sounds like he's being serious all Cross can do in turn is give him "are you kidding me right now?" kind of eye.]
Can we decide this stuff later when the crazy, evil soldiers are not attacking people?
no subject
Right, right. Fight first, talk later. Come on, then. Let's find someone else who needs some help.
[And snatch them up, too.]
no subject
Why am I questioning you're doing this for something else?
[Well, whatever. If this guy was going to help than there was no sense in arguing. So he breaks off into a run.]
Come on, person man!
no subject
Motochika Chōsokabe, the great Sea Devil of the West and captain of the Katabami. A man such as myself has no need to hide his motives. I came here to get people off this island and that's what I've been doing.
[It's just not entirely out of the goodness of his heart, that's all...]
no subject
Least it sounded like he was a good pirate.
Wait, right. Introductions.]
Uh, I'm Cross Blanchard! People call me back home the hero in Azure! 'Cause, yeah. Hero and stuff!
no subject
[The definition of "pirate" seems to be a little different as well, especially considering how vilified pirates seem to be. As far as he knows, the only one who really objects to what he does back home is that bratty little oracle from Iyokono and her opinion doesn't count.]
Pleased to make your acquaintance, Cross! I could use a hero aboard.
[That will show the other Motochika. His own teenaged hero to counter that screechy little beast the Koumyou had taken on.]
no subject
[So, that'd be a no on Cross knowing that Motochika the greatest Pirate ever. Apparently.]
I wouldn't really expect pirates to have many heroes on them. They're usually the bad guys. Usually.
[Just not in this case.]
no subject
[Motochika strolls off in the direction of the Backwater Brig, trusting Cross to follow. Maybe they'll find someone to save on the way. Maybe they'll just get to the shop unharmed. No skin off his nose either way.]
no subject
[And hope skip and a jump, he's already following behind him.]
no subject
[He pauses at the opening of a narrow alleyway and shrugs his anchor off his shoulders.]
Now, if you cut straight through here and head to the right, you'll find yourself at the Brig in no time. I can accompany you as far as the door if you wish, but you're a smart lad. I think you may be able to get yourself out on your own.
no subject
[All he can wonder is how odd a name that sounds. Well, whatever following behind the Anchor man. (haha)
There's only one thing he needs cleared up:]
So, why am I going to this brig place, anyways?
