PIRATES vs. NAVY BATTLE LOG
December 9th finds some new arrivals to this world, the same curious phenomenon that's been occurring for the past few months.
This time, however, the Navy is prepared -- or so they think.
They've got troops stationed around the island, and ships on the water to stop any arrogant, foolhardy pirates and would-be sailors from trying to make port.
So hit them with all you've got, but they're not going down easily...

[Just... there was a little bit of a distraction...]
Man... hearts? Really? How did we get teamed up like this again?
[Just because Jade wouldn't say anything...]

That's right! They don't call me Cure Heart for nothing! But don't worry, sir! If you're scared, just know you can count on us to protect you!
[then she turned back to Diamond and Rosetta]
I'm putting my faith in you two, meanwhile... Do either of you have a strategy?

I don't know about everyone else, but I think I could protect the hull with a thick layer of ice... That wouldn't help the people standing on top, though. Rosetta, I think that's more your thing.

[She gives one smile to Diamond, before leaping again, off the ice bridge. She bounces off the railing on one side of the Alcyone's deck, and then clear over to the other side, facing the general direction of the raining cannonballs.
Readying her Heart Arrow, for the moment, she concerns herself with just that. While keeping an ear out and occasional glance for her fellow Cures, she regardless retains complete faith in Diamond fulfilling the other end of the defense there.
Balancing easily on the railing, she addresses Jade.]
Don't worry about the incoming fire, sir!

[If there was something to enjoy about the situation, it was Luke's inevitable protests. In the meantime, Jade finished another arte and the nearest Navy ship burst into flames. How long would it take before they decided to back off?]
[Hopefully less long than it took Jade to run out of steam. Only time would tell.]

... eventually, however, another vessel emerged into view, heavily armored and with a massive harpoon launcher mounted on it. Mana's eyes widened... that looked a lot bigger than what she'd seen being used to hunt whales in the story books...]
... Rosetta! Diamond! Can you two stop something like that...?!

If I'm doing something about that harpoon, I can't keep doing this, Heart! If you want to me to keep reinforcing the hull, I can do that, or I can try and freeze the harpoon in place, if we can get close enough. [She glances sideways at her yellow companion.] That's assuming Rosetta doesn't have a better plan.

She sort of does.
Well, she at least HOPES she does.
Waiting until it launches to see if Rosetta Reflection can deflect it is... far too risky. It may not be THEIR ship at risk, but there are PEOPLE on it at risk. Even if those there most important to her would be able to escape harm fairly easily, she had to be concerned about the others as well.]
Diamond, keep doing as you are!
[She grit her teeth a bit.
This was probably terribly risky.
Considering it was a very offensive move by a not-so-very-offensive magical girl, at least at range.
So, she jumped high, into the air, into the direction of the armored, harpoon-wielding vessel. She materialized a Rosetta Wall beneath her halfway there, using it as a stepping stone to take another leap, before leveling her Heart Arrow.]
Precure Rosetta Reflection!
[And she summoned a very large, clover-shaped energy shield... which she promptly flipped back away from, but not before kicking it with excessive force, right TOWARDS the harpoon.
Of course, NOW she's sort of... just hanging in mid-air.]

[And speaking of... This called for quick thinking as well.]
O violent torrent... Splash!
[It was one of his weakest artes, but he wasn't going for damage this time. The sea water rose upwards, shaping itself into a pillar to break the girl's fall. It was a little cumbersome to change an offensive spell like this, but Jade was always up for experimenting.]
[Thankfully there was plenty of water to draw fonons from, or this could have ended on an embarrassing note.]

And then... then Rosetta began to fall.
Jade was taking action, but that wouldn't be enough. She had to make sure that Alice had a way to get back to the ship...
She took aim with her Love Heart Arrow, and blasted a piece of wreckage... this would take some doing, but once that was done and it was blasted into several pieces, she leaped from the deck of the vessel and began kicking it, intent on arranging it in a relative "line" for Rosetta to use as stepping stones back to everyone.
Of course, there was cannon fire going off again, which would be a problem for all of them...]

As the water rose up, she tucked her feet up to her chest, holding her hands down to summon two Rosetta Walls, one for each hand. She hit the rising water with that, and then sprung off the Walls, flipping over in the air, and hitting the flying wreckage. She bounced from one to the other until she came back with in range of the ship, taking a long leap for it once she was sure she could clear the space.
Unfortunately, with the cannon fire also incoming, she couldn't quite make it in time to deflect them.]

[That's enough to make Rikka completely forget whatever she was supposed to be doing, instinct driving her to leap from the deck onto some of Mana's impromptu stepping stones, landing lightly before hopping forward. With her friends clear, she stomped on a piece as she landed, sending it vertical, and raising her Love Heart Arrow above her head.]
Precure... Diamond Shower!
[The sound of a tambourine rings across the sea once more, a freezing wind wrapping around the bit of hull she's perched on a curved inner edge of; this smaller piece, she can freeze more quickly, but it's still going to be a race against time. Working out the math, she pushes as much power as she can into her ice and, at the last second, drops to her stomach. Two cannonballs picked that moment to smash into the frozen wood. And while it did its job - rather than splintering and being ignored, the ice stopped the cannonballs almost dead, leaving them to glance on a lame arc into the air before dropping into the sea - it also meant Diamond was spinning on a ride she couldn't readily get off as the wood sailed through the air back toward the Alycone, the helpless girl screaming all the way.]
whoops I forgot about this
The wind picked up, blowing hard against the piece of hull flying towards them. Jade's eyes narrowed in concentration. Just slow down the spinning, keep the wood from flipping over, move it closer until she was near enough--]
Catch her! Quickly now!

[Mana's eyes were filled with fear as she screamed Rikka's - not Cure Diamond's - name, She kicked off the piece of debris she was standing on and launched herself into the air quickly, hurtling towards the other Precure's falling form...
... and slammed into her in mid-air, catching her just before they went sailing down towards the deck of the Alcyone and smacking right into the deck]

She cursed herself as she wasn't quick enough to stop Heart before she HIT the deck, instead sliding to her knees and grabbing them to make sure they didn't fly any further.]

[She was supposed to protect them. Normally such a miscalculation in battle when both would clearly be fine and probably just had the wind knocked out of them wouldn't bother her so much.
However, that was before she missed being able to protect them from OTHER things in this world because she wasn't there. And now out in their first battle since her arrival, there was this.]

Most of her head, however, is focused on a combination of pain and fear and the unsettled feeling from having spun out of control for a little bit there. She doesn't immediately get up; the wind's been knocked out of her and everything hurts. Precure or not, she's not made for collisions with solid objects, and she's getting a harsh reminder of that.]
