PIRATES vs. NAVY BATTLE LOG

December 9th finds some new arrivals to this world, the same curious phenomenon that's been occurring for the past few months.

This time, however, the Navy is prepared -- or so they think.

They've got troops stationed around the island, and ships on the water to stop any arrogant, foolhardy pirates and would-be sailors from trying to make port.

So hit them with all you've got, but they're not going down easily...

Look, Ruby just didn't know her own strength, sometimes.

She spun around as Aqua came down, hand dropping instinctively to Crescent Rose folded up at the small of her back. But then she relaxed a bit, seeing this person wasn't a threat.

What did did not do was bat an eyelash at the magical girl's attire.

"Oh, good, finally someone who doesn't want to kill me!" she exclaimed, and then paused and smiled sheepishly. "I mean, hi!"

Well of course. Obviously she was dressed properly for fighting bad guys. Anyone who doubted this was clearly silly.

And that was an understandable reaction, really. Karen smiled. "Hello. It's always nice to meet someone who appreciates not being killed." Wow, that was a lot funnier in her head. "Anyway, you're a pirate now--it's a long story, but the important part is you need to get out of here. I'll show you the way."

Pause.

Ruby craned her neck to one side, one part of all this finally sticking out to her as excessively strange.

"A pirate? But I haven't done anything!"

Because an exclamation like that isn't sure to attract anymore undue attention.

"Shh!" Aqua responded hastily, but it was probably too late. She was starting to get a handle on what sort of person she was talking to, and it wasn't "quiet."

"The Navy don't care what they've done. What they care about is that you appeared out of nowhere, and they're not happy about it. They're occupying the island, so the only place that's safe is on a ship that isn't under their control. That means a pirate ship. So either you take your chances here, or you're a pirate."

"Aw man, my professors would kill me if--"

Ruby stopped suddenly as she heard several crunches nearby them. The crunch of boots hitting broken rocks, clearly someone - or more than that, perhaps - moving, trying to stay quiet, and failing.

Instinctively, Ruby's hand flung back to Crescent Rose again, and this time she drew it. Within moments it was flipped out into a rather large sctyhe, as she backed up towards Aqua.

"Soooo, heh. Pirate ship, you say?"

Well, that was a good sign. Enough noncombatants had been brought here already, in Karen's opinion.

"Pirate ship." Aqua nodded. "Mine is the Antoinette. We'll try to get you there for now."

It probably would have be appropriate to further explain that she didn't necessarily have to stay, but that would have to wait, because now a squad of uniformed soldiers started coming into view.

"Let's go!"

Ruby gave an enthusiastic nod. Yes, getting well away from this - all of this - was much more a preference.

So naturally, the moment Ruby was about to start moving, several soldiers came out from around some rubble. A moment later, guns were trained at them.

Ruby narrowed her eyes a bit, lowering her stance as she swung Crescent Rose back behind her.

"So, uh, you can fight, right?"

Aqua didn't directly answer the question, but the answer probably became clear pretty quickly when she charged at the soldiers shouting "HAAAAA!" This worked as intended--several soldiers promptly fired their guns at her and watched their shots bounce harmlessly off what looked like ordinary fabric. One of them got the added excitement of being abruptly picked up and thrown at one of his compatriots. It all would have been very fun if it wasn't painful.

Well. That certainly answered that.

Launching herself forward, Ruby fired a blast from her scythe directly behind her, propelling her even faster. She vanished for a moment in a storm of rose petals, appearing only as she slammed feet first into the face of one soldier. She spun Crescent Rose as he fell, disarming two nearby soldiers of their guns.

Leaping off the guy she'd landed on, Ruby slammed the blunt end of her weapon into one of the disarmed soldiers, sending him flying right past the one Aqua had also just thrown. She landed in a low crouching position, then, and swung her weapon wide, sweeping a couple other guys' feet out from under them.

It was too bad Aqua was occupied now, because she kind of wanted to watch Ruby fight--what she'd managed to catch in her peripheral vision looked impressive, especially since Ruby was apparently managing to be entirely nonlethal.

Right now, though, she other things on her mind. The remaining soldiers were going for their swords, which meant it was time for Aqua to put some distance between them. Not too much, just enough that that closest guy couldn't get to her before she shouted "Pretty Cure Aqua Stream!" and knocked him back.

Ruby caught that attack as she rose back up, and did a bit of a double take. Certainly, people in her world were capable of some impressive feats. But she just ... shot a torrent of water bare handed. What the heck?

There wasn't much time for talk, though, as two soldiers came at her from either side with their blades. She gave a quick dash towards one, slamming the blunt end of her scythe into him, and then... flipping him over her, into the other one still charging.

The commotion of the fight was drawing more attention, and she could see some more soldiers heading down the street towards them. Grimacing, she jumped back a little ways, flipping and folding Crescent Rose into its rifle mode. She fired... but not into the crowd, but one particularly unstable wall along their path, which collapsed towards them after several well-placed shots.
