PIRATES vs. NAVY BATTLE LOG

December 9th finds some new arrivals to this world, the same curious phenomenon that's been occurring for the past few months.

This time, however, the Navy is prepared -- or so they think.

They've got troops stationed around the island, and ships on the water to stop any arrogant, foolhardy pirates and would-be sailors from trying to make port.

So hit them with all you've got, but they're not going down easily...

[Gibbs has remained aboard the murderess to help sail the ship and to be able to fire the cannons which thankfully had all been loaded before battle. They will only be able to fire two broadsides (one on either side of the ship) but hopefully with the fog and other ships about, two will be enough]

[Hovering around Gibbs, eyeing the surrounding waters nervously whilst trying to pretend he's not nervous at all. No other ships seem to have discovered them yet, but...]

What are the chances we're actually going to have to use those, do you think?

And what if they start shooting the same type of thing back at us?

We protect ourselves, of course.

I haven't tested my protective spells against something that large. I wonder how they'd hold up.

[yatteyanyo]

You will simply have to have faith that they will, in that case. We're not getting another chance.

[dragonbadfaith]

Yes, yes. I'm sure they'll be fine. Wouldn't be much of a shield otherwise.

... In all honesty, it's good to hear your confidence in that fact.

[...Wasn't really expecting a comment like that. He blinks at her for a second.]

Well. Yes. Magic is pretty reliable once you know the proper spells.

You have to remember that your Western magic is still quite alien to me.

I could always show you more of it when we're not under threat of being attacked by ten thousand Navy ships.

Let's just focus on surviving, for now.

That is always a plan I can get behind.

[Gibbs is staring out through the mist, trying to make heads or tails out of what is going on around them. With the fog acting as a buffer, sounds seem to be playing up and the thickness of the mist is almost as much a hindrance to the Murderess as it is to the Navy.]

A fair chance. Even marred in this unnatural mist they may think to give chase and sail into us. It's best for us to be prepared.

I see. And you're well-versed in how they work and everything, yes?

[Gibbs gives him a funny look at that. As if the question even needed to be asked.]

Aye lad. I know to aim em' and fire em'.

[dragonbadfaith]

[Frowns at that look.]

Don't look at me like that, how should I know. I've never seen you use them before!

[superstitiouspirate]

[Gibbs isn't used to people not knowing this sort of stuff. Usually it's superstitious things he is having to instruct others in.]

We've never had need of them before, now have we?

[dragonbadfaith]

No...I suppose not.

[Taps his fingers against the ship railing for a moment.]

Well do we have to wait for someone else to attack us first or can we fire them now?

[Gibbs sighs softly, but works hard to keep his face neutral.]

Nay, we be keeping them silent unless they be called for. No sense looking for trouble if trouble hasn't found us yet.
