PIRATES vs. NAVY BATTLE LOG

December 9th finds some new arrivals to this world, the same curious phenomenon that's been occurring for the past few months.
This time, however, the Navy is prepared -- or so they think.
They've got troops stationed around the island, and ships on the water to stop any arrogant, foolhardy pirates and would-be sailors from trying to make port.
So hit them with all you've got, but they're not going down easily...

"Korra?" WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? In an instant Asami let go of her moped and stepped over closer to her friend, she was ignoring the man who was desperately yelling and picking up the poor helpless cabbages
IT'S NOT LIKE THIS WAS FAMILIAR TO HER OR ANYTHING ONLY IT WAS."What are you doing here?" Wait. Weird question to ask. "What's going on?"

"We gotta find a tavern where we can hide for now. Follow me." Trusting that Asami would be right by her side, Korra took off down the street. She hated to run away from the fighting, but filling Asami in came first. She probably didn't even know what the guns were... Not to mention how she didn't even have a weapon.

[Ace's voice echoed out, obscured only by gunfire and the sound of swords clashing. Standing in the middle of the square, Ace grabbed a gigantic soldier by the throat and lifted him a foot or so off the ground. The soldier thrashed, punching Ace over and over in the cheek to no visible effect. Eventually, Ace's head fell back and he began snoring loudly, eyes tightly shut. His body didn't move even an inch, despite the fact that he passed out.]
G-Get him off me! Gah! Shoot him!

Though she couldn't help but stop at the display next to them. A man lifting a soldier in the air and quickly falling asleep. Yeah, okay. What was even happening anymore?
"Uh...shouldn't we help him?"
no subject
"ACE! Wake up!" Did that even work? He was going to get himself killed standing around like this!
no subject
In return, Ace was left with a confused mood settling in easily, himself.
"...I was asleep." He spoke up, as if this would fix everything.

Frowning as she stated the obvious, Asami looked back and forth between the two. Oh, so they already knew each other? That at least gave an indication at how long Korra was here, sort of. Longer than her that's for sure.

Naturally, the Navy soldiers were a little freaked out.
"Yeah, I've got it. You do what you need," Ace raised one hand, brandishing his fingers like the barrel of a pistol. Aiming it towards the row of soldiers advancing with swords this time, Ace fired off a few rounds of fire, sending men dancing away. The square's rocky grounds were marked with fiery pock-holes. "Nice to meet you, Salami!"
no subject
"Likewise, Ace. Sorry, but now might be a good time to keep moving."
no subject
...Salami? Really?
"Get moving down that ally!" She pointed down an adjacent side street before giving the wall she had just bent a solid kick, sending it sliding toward the soldiers. "There's a tavern we can duck into for now!"
no subject
She nodded to Korra and made a dart down the alleyway. She only stopped to look back to make sure her friend was still there once she was in far enough and the noise was more faded.
no subject
She nodded toward a ragged door in the side of a building, the sign over it so worn that it was impossible to read. Korra pulled open the door, the stench of rum and smoke pouring out as she stepped inside and out of the mayhem.
no subject
"That was too close." Her voice showed some frustration, but it wasn't directed a Korra obviously. Just the entire situation. "So what's going on now? Where are we?"
no subject
"This is Isla Empieza. It's where everyone shows up at first." Oh, this is going to take so much explaining. "Basically... People have been showing up here for a while. I got here about two months ago. This is supposed to be our hub island, but the Navy took over, and they don't like the people who came from the other worlds because we sail around unregistered." A mouthful, but Korra wasn't the best storyteller. "And now we're trying to take it back, because we knew that you guys would be showing up under their occupation." She paused to let that part sink in.
no subject
"What do you mean sailing around unregistered?" Yes Korra, she was going to have a lot of questions to ask.
no subject
As for the ships...
"Supposedly, the only thing that can get us home is some crystal that's scattered in shards all over the place. So we have to sail around and collect the shards, but we have to do it... outside the law. We're organized into crews. That... guy we saw? Ace? He's... my captain." And Korra was now realizing that he hadn't exactly made a brilliant first impression.
"Obviously, the Navy isn't too fond of us."
no subject
Sailing and crews? Hmmm. "I heard something about pirates. I'm guess they're referring to us then." Ah. Right, the fire user. "He's your captain?"
Yes. Yes he is.
"No, it didn't seem that way." Not with how they attacked them. There was one last pause from her before something a realization finally came to her. "What about Mako and Bolin? Or any of the others?"
no subject
"No sign of them. And it actually gets crazier- Master Katara and Sokka were here a while back. But they were younger than we are! Like... Hundred Year War younger! It took us a while to figure it out, but whatever's sucking us here, it's doing it from different times."
Which reminded her. Korra jumped slightly as she came to a realization.
"...When are you from?" She suddenly looked directly at Asami. At least she recognized Korra. That was a start.
no subject
When was she from?
"You," She paused, trying to think this over, especially after everything Korra said. "you fought your uncle in the Spirit World and kept the portals open afterwards."
There was more obviously, but that was the gist of it. "Do you remember any of that?"
no subject
"Well... I just came back from the spirit portal... But there wasn't a fight." How did Asami even know about that? And portals? She hadn't gotten to the Northern one yet, unless Asami really was from the future.
It would have made sense, seeing how long Korra had been gone, but then again, if Asami had lived out more time and Korra hadn't been there...
Nope. She was confused.
"Oh! I left on the Winter Solstice! You're from then, right?" Right?
no subject
No. She would remember the fight if that were the case.
She sighed as she shut her eyes and lowered her head. "Sorry, this really is confusing. A lot happened after that."
no subject
"I guess... we just have to focus on the present, then." That was how she had looked at things from day one. Solve the situation at hand. She looked back up to Asami. "Ace'll be fine with you joining up with us, if you... don't mind being called Salami for a while." She couldn't help it. Korra let out a poorly stifled laugh as she thought of the unintentional nickname.
no subject
But she couldn't focus on that for now as much as it pained her, the Avatar was right, focusing on the present was the only option. She raised an eyebrow in confusion as Korra mentioned the nickname. Oh right, that.
"That's...just a nickname, right?" Surely he knew her real name? RIGHT?
no subject
"To be honest, I'm... not really sure. If he keeps it up, I'll... remind him that it's not Salami." Another small snort. "Ace can be... kinda crazy. He's a good captain, though. And some kind of firebender, though... not really. It's more like his body's made of fire."
