PIRATES vs. NAVY BATTLE LOG

December 9th finds some new arrivals to this world, the same curious phenomenon that's been occurring for the past few months.
This time, however, the Navy is prepared -- or so they think.
They've got troops stationed around the island, and ships on the water to stop any arrogant, foolhardy pirates and would-be sailors from trying to make port.
So hit them with all you've got, but they're not going down easily...

Elissa followed in Haytham's wake, making short work of the crewmen on the stairs as they were distracted by his unconventional use of the railing. She stepped over the dead and injured as they fell and darted to the upper deck in order to catch up with the man whose plans she'd inadvertently ruined. "Perhaps we should consider taking our leave?" the Warden called to the Templar as she caught up to him.
A pistol shot pinged off of the section of dragon plate that protected her heart, causing Elissa to flinch in surprise at the noise and the strength of the hit despite the fact that it did no damage. "Maker's breath!" The pistoleer was nearer to Haytham than to herself.

Haytham looked back to Elissa once the pistol man fell, "I believe so."
They had caused enough havoc hadn't they?
"Over the side would be the quickest way."
If they were given the chance to get there. The crew was beginning to recover from the myriad of attacks that had been leveled against them and several of the riflemen had reloaded their weapons. One in particular, with an acid burn across his cheek, took a bead on the monster who had just murdered his Captain.

Smoke billowed from the musket as the rifleman fired, but Elissa's reaction time with Starfang was far too slow. The musket ball slammed past the Grey Warden's blades and through her studded, dragon hide leather to lodge itself in her upper torso below her shoulder and above her dragon plate piece. "AUGH!"

Hands fell on her shoulders to support her as soon as it had been made clear just what had happened.
"Now we really must leave."
She couldn't be expected to carry on the fight like this. It was his turn for a little trick then. She had used a vile of acid to distract and injure the crew and he had something similiar. A smoke bomb was drawn from a pocket and tossed down on the deck. It did no harm to the men close to it but the thick smoke did make it difficult to see. The crew found themselves once again reeling from a surprise attack as they choked on the smoke and were blinded effectively enough so that the pair could make their way up and over the rail of the ship. The seaman heard the splash when it came but could do nothing about it.

"We should make for the local Nav."
Though there would doubtless be soldiers along the way that they would need to dodge it seemed the quickest way to get her back to the ship and to the medical treatment she needed.
"Do you think you could make it that far?"
no subject
"You are not hit, I hope?" was asked to verify that her actions hadn't been in vain. Soggy leathers squelched when she took another step forward on the wet sand. Water was still dripping from her attire and droplets were falling from the edge of her leather hood to run down her face.

That would have to suffice for a 'thank you' until they were in a more secure area. Haytham left her side for just a moment, to scurry up the side of the building and scoop out the area ahead.
The town was a mess but using his unique gift the patrols were easy enough to pick out, their red outlines marking them out from the rest of the crowd. He settled on the best route to take before 'borrowing' a shirt from a native's laundry line and dropping back to the ground. He tucked and rolled to lessen the impact of jumping down from the roof, and then was back at her side to relay what he'd seen.
"I think we should be able to slip past the patrols without engaging them."
The shirt was for her wound, a temporary battlefield means of preventing the blood loss. You did what you could in these situations and used what you could find. Of course it did mean some one lost a shirt but...
I just read up on musket ball wounds. Holy crap!
Bad news for her if it's not treated well!
"Would you mind...?"
Well, removing that piece of armor long enough to temporarily patch the injury.
"We can have you seen by a skilled physician once we make it back to the ship, but until then we should try to patch that wound."

He torn the shirt into strips that would be better suited to this task. The sleeves were the most useful seeing as how they were already very long, they just needed to be freed from the body of the shirt.

Each new movement of her left shoulder seemed to encourage fresh blood to well out of the musket ball's entry point. Finally, she peeled away her studded leather tunic to reveal the linen shirt beneath it that was plastered and wrinkled against her form. Despite Elissa's determination not to pass out, she came very close for a moment.
no subject
Why had she done it?
The first sleeve was taken and wrapped around the injured shoulder.
"Brace yourself."
Then the pressure came as the knot in the former shirt was tightened to hold in the leaking blood. The second sleeve was then secured around the first making for a stable bandage even if it was a make shift one.
"Now, we will just have to make it to the Nav. Rest for a moment and then we can be off."
no subject
The tassets and cuisses went on over her leather pants and linen tunic as Elissa knew better than to try to pull on her leather tunic again. That would be wasted, painful effort. Instead, she eased into her blade harness with what help the Templar could offer and draped her tunic and triangular chest plate over the crook of her left arm. The added weight was not comfortable, but at least her right arm was free for swordplay, if necessary.

Haytham didn't wait for her to say she was ready. He watched and and soon as the timing seemed right he reached out to guide the young lady along the path ahead of them.
"It's not too far. One of the other teams has probabally secured the Nav by now. Should be simple enough."
Most likely, if those others they had arrived with were as competent as they claimed. If not, then he intended to the clear the way for her.
no subject
Still, she let Haytham undertake the duties of lookout and protector without protest or complaint. This time. "I do believe Harlock headed that way after we exited the forest to do just that."
no subject
"I'll go slightly ahead then to make certain the way is clear."
He had not seen Harlock's abilities and being so slow to trust people as he was it was best to take care of these matters himself. Luckily the short scouting mission did show the way had been cleared and Haytham was back in plenty of time to see her through the door and over to the Nav.
"Have you met anyone who is a skilled Doctor?"
no subject
She shifted the weight upon her left arm to her right in relief. Haytham's bandages were holding well, though the linen undershirt she had worn beneath her armor was still stained from earlier blood loss.
"Are you coming with me or do you intend to remain on the island?"
no subject
He could simply have placed her in the Nav and sent her on her way but she was injured and had risked her life to save his.
"I'd better see you safely to the ship."
Besides what happened if they arrived back there and no one else was there? She might end up as the only on-board. This was the more prudent option.
no subject
"Thank you," was her response as she summoned a slight smile. She reached out with her right hand to activate the Nav, setting the markers to the Triton's Mistress. "Whenever you are ready."
