PIRATES vs. NAVY BATTLE LOG

December 9th finds some new arrivals to this world, the same curious phenomenon that's been occurring for the past few months.

This time, however, the Navy is prepared -- or so they think.

They've got troops stationed around the island, and ships on the water to stop any arrogant, foolhardy pirates and would-be sailors from trying to make port.

So hit them with all you've got, but they're not going down easily...

Yeah, yeah, magical jewels, treasure hunting, dog playing a weather girl.

[He's heard all of this bullshit and is seriously sick of it. However, what follows that little explanation catches him off guard.]

... Wait a goddamn minute. Are you inviting us to your ship? [Because that sure sounded like an invitation.] Are you insane? You don't know a single thing about either of us!

[Which, admittedly, is probably for the better in Ragna's case; it's doubtful anyone would want the world's most wanted criminal on board, if only out of fear he'll kill them in their sleep. Like he doesn't have better things to do.

Although, seeing how this guy looks like he jumped straight out a pirate story himself, perhaps he wouldn't mind anyway.]

["Desperate, not insane" is the actual answer, but there's no way he's going to say that. So far, he hasn't seen any reason not to trust these two, and that's good enough for him. Sayaka would be quite disappointed in him, but Sayaka is always disappointed in him, really, so she can stow it.]

I know you need a way off this island and a ship to sail on. What more do I need to know? I think you've seen the mess out there. You won't be setting off on your own through that blockade, so you're going to need a captain who knows a thing or two about tricky sailing and I'm going to need more hands on deck. It works out for all three of us and it's the safest you'll find yourself in this place.

Blockade?

[Aw man, this sucked. This eye-patch guy's proposal was sounding better and better by the minute]

Sheesh, what kinda luck is this? Showin' up in a strange place, gettin' arrested, and then bein' told there's an entire blockade for us to deal with.

[His gaze flickers towards Ragna, then back to Motochika]

I dunno about Grouchy over here, but you can count me in. [It's not like he could really say no, after all]

[Ragna falls silent as the man explains his train of thought. All of that sounds... surprisingly reasonable. He hates to admit it, but Motochika's right -- even if he's sure he could handle the Navy officers, there's no way in hell he'd manage to leave the island on his own. So his only option is...]

... Fine. [He spits out the word rather than say it, but agreement is agreement. That, and he seems to finally drop his stance.] Lead the way, Sea Devil.

[Something at the back of his head is telling him he's gonna regret it sooner than later.]

[Motochika casts a look around the shop, finally finding the Nav. He walks to it and displays it with a flourish.]

This is it! Just let this thing know you want to go to the Katabami and it'll whisk you away. I'll follow once I've gathered up a few more things. Business to be done, you know?

["Business to be done" meaning "see how many things I can scavenge and carry back with me."]

[Gold eyes the Nav with absolutely no wariness or dubiousness at all. Instant teleportation wasn't uncommon in his world]

Right! Guess I'll see you on the ship, spiky-headed gramps! You comin', Grouchy?

[that last part is said to Ragna, of course]

[He can't really imagine what kind of "business" is there to be done in a place that's in the state of utter chaos, but there again, he probably doesn't want to know.]

... It's Ragna. [If he really is doomed to spend even more time in this brat's company, then he might as well introduce himself, since the nickname thing is starting to get on his nerves.] Ragna the Bloodedge.

[And with that, he steps towards the Nav.]
