What: Jaune and Weiss take a little trip to a place they never thought they'd go.

[so. in the midst of them still getting their ship and crew situation all worked out, jaune wanted to explore a bit more. he had mostly been in town, down at the docks, all over the place in all honesty. however there was one spot he wanted to check out, but he didn't want to go alone.

the tavern.

they were underage back in remnant, but here maybe it wasn't the case. not like jaune had ever had a drink before in his life, but he still wanted to see what it was like nonetheless! he would have asked ruby to go with him, seeing as how they were pretty close friends, but weiss was a little older. besides, he liked spending time with her, he still had a thing for the heiress after all.]

It won't be that bad Weiss!

[jaune gestured at the tavern in front of them, seeing as how they had yet to walk in.]

So stop worrying!

Do you know how many hours I've put into studying and practicing just to get to where I am right now and I wasn't even chosen to be a leader? If you want to know what I think of being in my family, it's that. Perfection and nothing less. Some parts of it were fun, most of it was trying to make sure that I met and exceeded the expectations I'm given. I'm still not where I want to be despite all that, so how did someone who only recently started trying properly make it this far?

[ She's not sure if that's too harsh or not, but having Jaune cornered in a bar where no one's paying attention to them after he already asked her about her own situation means she gets to lay it on, clearly. ]

[....ah. he can't tell her. she'll hate him for sure.

jaune looks down at his drink, moving the mug in his hands, rolling it a little as he watches the liquid. he thought about what to say next carefully.]

You're way better than most people at Beacon, Weiss. I'm just lucky, that's it really. And that's no way to live, I know it. [he smiles sadly.]

I don't understand a lot, and not many people like me 'cause of that. My dad told me to be confident in myself, and mom always encouraged me to just make friends. [he shrugs.]

I think you're perfect already. I really look up to you as a Huntress.

[whiteas]

You can be confident all you want. It's when you're overly confident that it becomes a problem.

[ At him calling her perfect though, she sighs, the picks that drink up again and takes a few good gulps before slamming the mug down on the table and covering her mouth. Good lord, that burns. Give her a second before she lowers her hand and shakes her head, her eyes closed. ]

I may be entire light-years ahead of you, but I'm still far from perfect. Thanks, though.

[conntego]

No way! How can you even get any better? You and everyone else, you guys are all... zooom and kapow!

[he's waving his arms around while he talks, sound effects of planes and explosions all around. yeah, he's a light-weight for sure. he's already feeling a little tipsy and this is a pint he's just gulped down.]

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself Weiss! I wish I could fight like you.

[whiteas]

That was what I was going to school for. If I was already perfect I wouldn't need to be at Beacon at all.

[ That aside.. ]

Maybe that's your problem! Stop being so confident and worrying about what everyone else is doing and just focus on yourself. You're behind, so work on it! Don't just stare at how amazing everyone else is. Be that amazing no matter what it takes. If you stare at everyone else who's been working harder for a long time, you're wasting time that you could be practicing to get better.

[ Weiss is a little buzzed, but she hasn't exactly gotten even halfway through her pint. Jaune probably won't even notice that she's getting into ultra-bossy mode and is perfectly fine with telling him how to live his life. Another sip here we go.. ]

Then help me train!

[jaune just blurted that out. it was weird, like he was losing control of what he should and shouldn't say. he takes another gulp of his drink, slamming his mug down as well.]

You're super good so then I'll get super good from you as a teacher!

[whiteas]

You can't even keep up in classes with trained professionals, I don't want to slow down my training to fit your speed, you dunce!

[ This might take a bit of work to get her to agree.. ]

[conntego]

I won't slow you down! I can keep up, you'll see!

[and now he's chugging the rest of it. THERE HE GOES! one drink down!]

Maiden! Another round for here!

[whiteas]

[ JAUNE DO YOU HAVE MONEY ENOUGH TO DRINK YOUR WEIGHT IN IT?! Weiss is going to take another swig of hers before setting the drink down gently on the table, back to trying to maintain dignity by cushioning it with her pinky on the table. ]

Then if you want to train with me you can just show up and try to keep up.

[conntego]

You got it. I will... I-I... toooootally will.

[yup he's tipsy by now. and here comes two more drinks!]

[whiteas]

If you fall behind we'll go directly into one-on-one combat training!

[ Another sip.. about 3/5 done but the new one comes so Weiss decides to just go for the new one and not finish the first one. ]

These cups are far too big. Don't they have straws?

[ Guess who's used to drinking out of little glasses? ]

What now?

[he's already gulped down a lot of his second drink.]

Straws... no no no no no you can't have straws. Nononono.

[whiteas]

Don't tell me what I can and can't have, Jaune. Since when did you become the almighty overlord of straws?

[ Weiss might be a wee bit tipsy, too.]

[conntego]

Because straws aren't as important as binoculars!

[LISTEN TO HIM HERE! ...wait why is he saying these things?! it's like he can't even help it anymore. he gulps down some more, slams down his drink and points at her.]

No straws allowed on this ship.

[whiteas]

[ Weiss may still be making sense but her volume control leaves much to be desired right now. ]

Excuse you, I don't think binoculars are going to solve any of our problems! We need a telescope! And a straw! What kind of sailor are you? You aren't my captain!

[conntego]

I could be! And you might not even know it!

[he waggles a finger at her.]

I'd be your cute and completely available captain. If you catch my drift, Snow Angel.

[whiteas]

The ship has sailed on Team Jaune, sorry to say!

[ Gonna take another drink, holding her drink out to point at him. ]

And "Snow Angel" is probably the worst attempt at wooing me I've ever heard!

[conntego]

What? I thought it was pretty good.

[HAS SHE BEEN WOOED A LOT?!]

...Not like I've really tried wooing a girl before so... so it was good for my first try!

[whiteas]

Of course it's bad! It's not even witty!

[ She'll never tell!! ]

If you're trying to get me to tell you to practice because you're bad at everything, you're out of luck, buddy.

Mmmm...

[jaune stops. he sees the world behind her spinning but he's just staring at her intensely.]

[conntego]

Pudding?

[CAN HE CALL YOU PUDDING?!]

[whiteas]

Do I look like a formless mush to you!?

[ She slams her hands down on the table, standing up. Then sitting back down because she's a little dizzy, whoa. ]

[conntego]

[...he's gonna go there.]

Darling?

[whiteas]

[ It takes her a second to get over being dizzy, then she narrows her eyes again. ]

I'm not your darling either! If you call me anything other than Weiss, it'd better be Miss Schnee! Or Captain! I can be captain too. I'd make a great leader, you know. Ruby's pretty good at it, but I still want to lead one day.

[conntego]

Aye aye Miss Captain Schnee!

[he downs more of his mead.]
