What: Crew shenanigans, both light-hearted and serious, while the rest of the ships prepare for and do battle with the witch.

The Antoinette is a strange ship to be on. The (wise) decision was made not to go into battle, so it has been offered as a safe haven for those unable or unwilling to join the fight against the witch.

The air of light-heartedness found might, at times, feel forced, and it is a bit. The residents have only their morale to keep them going, so that's what they rely upon.


(Please feel free to either reply to the subject headers provided or make your own! This is just a general mingle log for anyone on the Antoinette. If your character is a non-combatant who wouldn't want to go into the fight or someone injured and unable to join the fight, Kyouya has publicly offered passage, so feel free to handwave being there.

[Fair enough, he wouldn't have allowed himself to be pat on the head as a child either. He lowers his hand again to rest some of his weight on it.]

So you're the kid of a tree that sent you out to go fight giant monsters, and then some guy from the desert came and cursed it, so now you're out on a life mission to defeat all evil? [Just to make sure he's got all this straight.]

No. The evil man from the desert cursed the Great Deku Tree first. Then the Great Deku Tree asked me to break the curse, and I did, but he was already too hurt to survive. So before he died he told me to leave the forest and find a Princess and help her defeat the evil that's taken over the land.

[There's a princess now too?]

You know, that'd make a pretty good video game. [Maybe even a game he would finish, for once.] So guy from the desert cursed your father-tree that you hatched out of a seed from, and his last wish was for you to go out and risk your life trying to be a hero to avenge his death? That's pretty dramatic. Are you sure he didn't just want you to re-plant him or something?

He didn't want me to avenge his death. He wanted me to help the princess stop the evil. And I couldn't replant him. He's a dead tree!


...What's a video game?

[Can't you get saplings even from dead trees? Ah well, Hikaru never cared much for gardening. He's happy for the topic change to something he actually knows about.]

A video game is like a virtual story that you control. A lot of them are really boring and predictable, but there are some that aren't so bad.

How do you control the story?

You have a controller! [He adjusts his hands in front of him, mimicking holding one.] It's usually some sort of plastic box with buttons on it, and you use it to move things in the game around, like your characters. You use them to complete quests and control the story. There are also puzzle games, where you just solve the puzzles to move on.

...okay.

[He had no idea what most of that stuff was.]

The point is that you sound like you could make a pretty good one. [Hell, he might pitch it to his dad if they ever make it home.]

Link. What's your name, Mister?

Hikaru. So what are you planning on doing today, anyway? Other than putting bad drawings all over our ship.

Nothing... what's wrong with it?

You mean aside from the part where it actually hurts to look at it?

[Link looked down at the carving. It was one of the best ones he'd ever done.

Feeling very self-conscious, he responded in a near whisper.]

No it doesn't.

[Oh ouch now he feels like a jerk. With a wince he rubs the back of his neck with a hand - he didn't mean to make Link feel bad.]

Well, it could be worse I guess. At least it actually looks like something?

[breaks_pots]

[Link frowned and dragged his sword through it without warning, defacing it.]

I'll make a new one.

[And with that declaration, he moved a foot to the right and set his blade to the planks.]

Ah--don't do that! [He shoots out an arm with the intention of grabbing Link's wrist.] If you do any more, Kyouya-senpai will get mad. [And it's one thing for Link to do it on his own, but if Hikaru just sat there and watched, he'd get into trouble as well.] I can get you some planks or something--don't just go digging your knife into whatever's closest!

It's just wood. It'll be fine.

It's not your ship, you don't get to say if it'll be fine or not.

I know how to care for wood. I carved my own bed at home. And the table and washbasin.

Are any of those things supposed to keep you afloat on an ocean?

I'm not carving into the sides.

[Link patted the wood, twisting the tip of his sword into the wood to get a decent depth.]

This part doesn't get wet unless there's a storm. It's solid and thick. A little shallow carving isn't going to harm it.

[Okay no yeah he's gonna be trying to take that sword away from Link now.]

Don't do that!

[breaks_pots]

[Link jerked his left arm back and flipped the sword so it would twist between the boy's arms without touching him as he moved it out of his reach.]

No. You don't get to touch that.

[He's impressed, but more annoyed.]

And you don't get to dig holes in our ship!

[He's exaggerating, but hey, that's what Hitachiins do.]
