Warnings: None yet; will be added as they occur.

The docks are usually loud and busy, but today, one ship sticks out as being particularly energetic. Those on the Antoinette are preparing a surprise for one of their crew, and they are not being quiet about it in the least. Instructions are shouted from one end of the deck to the other about decoration placement; some unlucky passers-by may wind up with rejected decorations on their heads, as anything deemed 'not good enough' will be carelessly tossed over the side of the ship.

A steady stream of food is being delivered to the Antoinette, and placed on top of a series of makeshift tables decorated with over a dozen drawings of happy tanukis, each enjoying a different meal, and each with a party hat on. Anyone who comes onto this ship and tries to eat something without permission will be swiftly descended upon by a member of the crew - this food is not to be enjoyed until the birthday girl returns.

Games have been planned; some more carefully than others. They've not managed to find a decent musician around yet, so unfortunately this party is sadly lacking in the music department - anyone with an instrument and talent would be welcomed.

All entrances to other parts of the ship have been roped off, and any attempt to explore beyond the deck will result in Trouble.

AFTERNOON

[The afternoon is filled with preparations. The food is arriving, the ship is being decked out in various tanuki-inspired hand-made decorations, and it's general chaos on the deck.]

[Anise is just casually walking along the docks back to her own ship when out of nowhere, a whole heap of confetti floats gently down to land on her head. And since she hadn't been paying attention to what's above her...

Cue shrieking and a mad flailing attempt to get it off her head.]

What the hell is that?!

[Who needed commoner's caffeine when the mere thought of his daughter's smile was enough to fuel Tamaki's whirlwind of actions. It was a busy afternoon, and the host club king was yet to be fully satisfied by the preparations.

Then he heard a shriek. He saw what caused it and gave an apologetic look at the girl before looking back at Hikaru with his usual president (authoritative) voice.]

Hikaru, I told you to be careful!

[Hikaru turns around only to pull his lower eyelid down and stick out his tongue. He's not sorry at all.]

You could have injured someone!

[Shaking his head.]

How are the preparations?

[He peers over the side of the ship to see what that scream's about, his dark hair blowing into his eyes, and is distinctly unimpressed by both the mad flailing and the wind.]

Looks like one of the dead bugs went overboard; my bad.

[No point in telling her it's just confetti; girls like that tend to freak out more when they think it's a bug.]

[As he predicts that brings a fresh fit of glass-shattering shrieks and renewed attempts to get the mess off her hair.]

[...Then she finally manages to sweep the thing off her hair and-!]

This isn't a bug!

[Yes! Just what he was hoping for. She might not be able to see his smile from that distance, but there's definite amusement in his voice.]

Really? I must have gotten it confused with the other bucket.

[There's a brief bit of a scuffle on the deck as he's chastised, and shortly after he's making his way down to her, carrying a rose made out of plain paper in his hand. This whole 'behave nicely' thing sucks. He kind of hopes she won't stay long enough that he has to apologise.]

An elf and a dog walk onto a ship...

[Sydni was not sure what to expect as he made his way up the gangplank with Cuddles nosing insistently at his rear for him to hurry and move so he could explore the deck. The ship was a decent size, but he'd never been to an actual party on a boat before. It seemed like they were trying to deck it out like a ballroom. The level of taste shown was currently not that high, but they were going through many decorations and moving things about.

Onces Sydni was on the deck proper, Cuddles took off to start barking at and bouncing happily around the nearest person. Unfortunately Cuddles was practically the size of a small pony and built like any proper war hound should be. At least he was obviously playful?]

[Unfortunately, Hikaru is currently struggling with a large pot of water. He's currently stumbling across the deck with it, and - almost as if it's fate - he stumbles right near Sydni and his pot goes flying. Sorry, stranger! Hopefully it misses and you don't get wet.]

Sorry! [His apology is quick to come out of his mouth, hands raised to shoulder height. Despite the remorse he should be exhibiting, he's grinning brightly, a picture of good cheer.] Are you alright?

[It didn't miss and only Sydni's face avoided being soaked completely as the water splashed out and the pot rolled past him. Some did get his face, of course, but it was barely any compared to the rest of him. That was not the best of greetings and for a few moments he was silent and staring at Hikaru with a very displeased expression.

It was gone quickly enough as he shook his head and began pealing his clothes away from his skin to shake them out.]

I am. Just very wet. I hope you didn't need that water for anything, replacing it when you can't carry it properly will be difficult.

[He shrugs, not bothered by the water loss. They're docked, so he can always just go get some more without having to worry about using what they've stored away.] It's just water, it'll be easy to get some more.

[He's not going to acknowledge the mess he's made unless he has to. He notices the huge, rambunctious... dog, he thinks it is, harassing another soul on deck. His grin only widens further at the sight of it, and he points over to it.]

Is that yours?

[Tamaki was busy running around the deck when he notices the huge hound looking around. Instinctively, he and Antoine run towards the said hound without a hint of fear in their eyes at all.]

He's so huge!!!

[Cuddles' head snapped up at the scent of the other dog and he barked excitedly at their approach. His attention was very much on the small puppy as he bent down to bark at it in greeting, the whole of his body shaking from the force of his stumpy tail wagging at top speed.

Sydni, in contrast, straightened his shoulders and offered a polite bow of his head to Tamaki.]

Captain Tamaki, it is a pleasure to greet you person. And yes, he is quite large. He's very friendly though.

[That is such a huge hound, and Tamaki couldn't help but give Cuddles a pet after Antoine happily barked at him and lick his nose. Antoine jumps in the immediate vicinity were Cuddle's face was and looked once or twice at his master to show him that he has a new friend.]

[He gives Sydni a bow as well.]

It is my pleasure as well to host your arrival. I bet it must be quite enjoyable to have him sleep with you at night!

EVENING - GAMES

[A variety of games have been set up for entertainment. A version of 'pin the tail on the donkey' has been set up, but with a large drawing of a rose instead. The aim is to get the leaves on the stem of the rose, while blindfolded and using a pair of small knives to stick your leaves on.

There are a couple of jars filled with miscellaneous items picked up from the shores of a beach; correctly guess how many items are in each jar, and you'll win a mystery prize.

Other games include 'guess what this is made of' at the food table, and - unofficially - 'who can annoy Tamaki the most'.]

[After Haruhi arrives, the party is able to begin.

[The moment the birthday girl arrives with Kyouya by her side, Tamaki greets them both. He bows and gives the most charming smile to his daughter. There may even be some rose petals floating around with Tamaki's usual dramatics.]

[She isn't expecting any of this. Her outing with Kyouya had been nice - and she had bought some delicious things for the kitchen - but this?

[Gracefully, the white prince waltzed closer to Haruhi, with his usual flair as he takes the bag of food from her hands.

He chuckles lightly at Haruhi's apparent innocence. He twirls around to point at the many preparations they did for her.]

This, all of this, we did it for you~! It's your birthday after all~!

[Her cheeks color helplessly and she ends up scowling at the decorations. She can't help being embarrassed and, unfortunately, this is how she expresses that feeling.]

I didn't think it was such a big deal. Do you celebrate everyone's birthday like this?

[Some music eventually came, courtesy of a small boy with an Ocarina who wasn't as mobile as he had hoped to be. The lack of music at such a big gathering had prompted him to pull out his instrument and start playing whatever songs he had already learned from his songbook. The variety wasn't great, but it was upbeat, enthusiastic, and skillfully played.]

[Oh Link you brilliant little child. Hikaru is drawn to the music immediately, curious as to who showed up that actually has talent. He's surprised to see Link's the one playing, but then he supposes he really should just start expecting this kid to be able to do anything.

He'll cheer when the current song is over - no shame, this one - and make his way over to Link for a quick chat.]
