The Spades will be fighting Corpsemaster, one of the Navy Captains set for the Navy Month's event! There will be a forced retreat on both sides.

[Thee fingers brushing back some of his hair is unexpected, and makes Aya open his eyes to look at Selphie. Even if her sentence goes unfinished, he knows what she meant to say. He could've died along with her, and that wouldn't do any good for the crew.]

I couldn't just...let her... [He stops himself to find the right words.] I couldn't just watch. I had to do something.

[booyaka_boom]

*When he opens his eyes, Selphie reaches of the remaining roll of bandages and squeezes it in her hands. He'd looked like he was trying to rest, and she was annoyed at herself for having disturbed him by being so..normal*

I know, Aya. And when Kairi comes back, she'll appreciate that. But you can't punish yourself because you couldn't find her.

[formerabyssinian]

[Aya could hardly rest in a chair like the one he's sitting in. He gives her a wry smile at her statement.]

Can't I?

[booyaka_boom]

No, you can't, because it isn't your fault so it wouldn't be fair. Besides, if Kairi came back ro find you all sad and infected, I bet she wouldn't be too happy about it either. Have you even had anything to eat or drink since it happened?

*Despite her little rant at him, her voice is still relatively soft, because she doesn't want to upset him any further*

[It was nice to be ranted at for his own sake. Aya doesn't feel as if he didn't deserve it, but his wry smile turns into a small one.]

You have a point. Even though I can't take full responsibility, I'll take partial. [Allowing the navy to separate them is something he doesn't plan on letting happen again. He'll need extra training from here on out.]

I wasn't really hungry or thirsty earlier.

*Selphir sighs a little, and isn't sure of where to look. She's only being reminded of her own, somewhat more active, role in his own death. She still takes full responsibility for it, but it doesn't make sense to her that Aya should want to take responsibility for something that hadn't been his doing. She begins gathering up the various bits and pieces, leaving some bandages so they're closeby should he need them*

Then in that case we need to get you fed and watered.

*Arms full of stuff she heads for the door*

[Probably the person who understood a bit is Selphie. The sea witch made her go mad, yet Selphie still blames herself. Aya could have done more to help Kairi more. He didn't have a direct hand in killing her, but he could have at least saved her. Maybe.]

I'm not some flower, and if I were, you're not even offering me sunlight. [How rude. Even if it's nighttime.]

[Aya stands and takes a few things from her arms.] You've done a lot so far. I'll help.

[booyaka_boom]

*At the flower comment, Selphie tilts her head at him, first assessing that his bandages are where they should be, then definitely not taking a glimpse and his shoulders and abs. She shrugs and pulls a face at him*

Interesting-looking flower, existing underground. Maybe more like...a carrot!

*She attempts to get the door open with her foot and elbow*

No way! You should be resting! I've got it all under control!

*But as soon as she says it, the bowl of hot water begins to slip from her hands*

...a carrot? [No way is he gonna just let himself be compared to a carrot!]

[He's about to protest, but sees that Selphie is having a hard time. Before the bow can topple to the floor, Aya moves quickly to catch it. Probably too quickly, since it opens some wounds. Okay, so maybe helping isn't such a good idea just yet. There's a bit of red seeping through his current bandages, while Aya hands her back the bowl with a slightly pained look on his face.]

I'll...wait here. [Not moving will help. For now.

[booyaka_boom]

*She doesn't say as much, but she does give Aya an I Told You So look, though it's the kindest, more gentle one she can manage*

Alright, you take a seat, or have a lie down and I'll be back soon. We can change the bandages too if you like.

*Flashing a reassuring smile, Selphie leaves, and perhaps twenty minutes later she returns with a tray. It's laden with a large mug of strong black tea, a sandwich, and one of those sweet poached apples that Zeff had made. There's also a much smaller bowl of hot water this time, and a clean cloth*

Ta da! I'm back!

[He sees the look. Being scolded with eyes. Just what he needs. With a nod, Aya opts for sitting on the bed, but opts to sit back more and uses a pillow to help support his back. It's not the best of pillows, but it's doing the trick.]

[Seeing Selphie with so much stuff, Aya wonders how angry Zeff will be later. He'll leave a note for him later. For now, he smiles and makes room for her and the items.]

Was Zeff in the kitchen?

No... He wasn't.

*She sits just across from him on the bed, the tray between him*

But I'm sure he'll understand. This is medicinal, really. I'll see him first thing in the morning, and I left him a little note. With a smiley face and a kiss at the end, so it should be okay!

*Selphie looks at the tray and back up at Aya*

You should drink the tea first at least, before I do the bandages. And the apple tastes better hot too. Zeff made one of those for me before, and it cheered me up!

[Well, she beat him to it. That's fine. Aya takes up the tea and looks at it suspiciously.]

Any reason why I should have the tea first? [Did she lace it with rum?]

[booyaka_boom]

Not especially. Not unless you want to drink it cold? I figured it's a good idea to get you hydrated too.

*She points at a couple of sugar cubes she put by the side*

I brought sugar, cause I think it'll do you good, but I dunno if you like it or not so...

*But maybe, just maybe, there's a tiny drop of medicinal rum in there too*

I'll drink it now. [He didn't really like cold tea, or sugared tea, so he drinks it straight. Indeed, it's strong, so...he adds a few sugar cubes. No offense, Selphie.]

[Aya can definitely taste a bit of rum, which is a nice touch. He sighs softly, relaxing as the warmth works through him. It's enough to distract him from his wounds.]

[booyaka_boom]

Good! *Selphie smiles and shifts a little on his bed. She moves uncertainly, not sure if she should be getting more comfortable, or getting ready to leave*

Much better now, right? I could go give you some peace, come back a little later and see to your bandages, if you like. I mean, I'm sure you'll mostly manage, but I'm kinda worried about the one on your back...

Hmm? [Aya looks to her, holding the cup between his hands.] Is it that bad?

[He can't really see it, but he's sure it's the wound that opened up earlier.]

[booyaka_boom]

*Biting her lip, Selphie slowly nods her head, but she doesn't want to give away anything too negative about it, even if it wasn't good*

Well..it's not awesome, anyway. But it'll heal, if you're careful, and don't make a habit out of helping stupid girls that carry too much.

[Sighing, Aya takes up a bit of something to munch on.]

I'll try to be careful. Did you want to look at it again?

[booyaka_boom]

*In answer, she picks up the small bowl and cloth and stands up from the bed, ready to sit round behind him somehow*

If you don't mind. I think it's a good idea to take another look and clean it up. Feel free to enjoy your snacks while I'm busy, though.

[Aya complies, scooting forward slowly to give her some space behind him.]

*Selphie slowy undresses the wound, and is grateful that he can't see her frowning at it. She begins to clean it carefully, and repeat the bandaging processes*

Aya, you're going to have to be really careful with this one. Any bigger and I think it might need stitches.

*She pauses in what she's doing to look round at him with a smile*

But don't worry, I won't be doing them!

[There were times that Aya flinched, but they were only few. Selphie's gentleness helps a lot. Aya manages to continue eating and drinking in small portions as she works.]

I'll try careful. Anything else, nurse? [Aya turns to her a bit, but not all the way. He can feel it being a strain on his wounds.]

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie redresses the wound, being very careful all the while. Finally done, she moves round to sit closely in front of him*

You just need to learn to rest, and to remember to look after youraelf. If you need me, you only need to call and I'll be straight back to help.

I'm not particularly good at either. [Aya gives her a wry smile, returning the earlier gesture by brushing back some hair from her face with a now free hand.] Thank you, Selphie. I'd be in worse shape if you didn't help.
