Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

There are going to be two main threads. One for the ball itself and the other for the Ambush! There will be an obligatory third thread for FASHION. Just remember to tag your muse in the subject header and OTA or 'Closed to ???' as you comment.

[It's about time that Codi left the Navy masquerade for other arrangements, now that she's had a good gander around and made sure her crew was stationed where they all need to be. But as the mysterious masked woman starts wandering towards the door, she notices a particularly impressive outfit that she has to stop and look over, at least once.]

"I'm not afraid of anything," he huffed, "It's just weird, that's all. We're just movin' back and forth, why do people enjoy this?"

She might be able to notice a small blush on his cheeks, by this point. Much as he tries to control it.

[Hello, morose-looking but sharply-dressed fellow idling by the wall--hope you weren't planning on staying hidden in this little corner, because the masked woman strolling away from the table of hors d'oeuvres sees you and your fancy suit and she wants to talk to you.]

[Two ginger women wandering around a masquerade in not-too-flashy red dresses are bound to find each other eventually. The Tyrant just happens to walk up first.]

Oh, what a nice mask! Did you make it yourself?

[Well, there's a familiar face--or a familiar mop of hair, anyways. Codi's mask will make recognizing her significantly more difficult in return, but the Tyrant is more than happy to make some new friends out of old acquaintances, anyways.]

"You're not? Then why aren't you holding me properly." Faye nodded towards some rather dapper-looking gentlemen to his right, "Would you rather be dancing with them instead? Believe it or not, people actually enjoy being this close me, you know." She pouted a little, as though she was upset by his reluctance to enjoy himself, but she has notices that small blush.

Well, little magpie, you certainly tend to attract interesting company. A familiar-yet-not-so-familiar masked woman has spotted Elissa's antics and is quick to wave in her general direction with a wide grin, and casual sips of her wine.

There's a few grumbles from him as he lets his arms fall, getting a more firm grip on her.

"There? See? Easy stuff."

[Lenalee knew of these kind of things. She knew that they were usually something higher up would have, in this case it being quite a similar thing. But she was most curious as to what they meant by that.]

Then what were they like back where your from?

"It's certainly an experience, but I'm more focused on other things."

She said happily watching people walk by, taking note of people she would be willing to talk to later. She wanted to know more about these people and what they did. If she could avoid having to fight then it was better than nothing, at least to her it could be. She knew it might not be the same to the other crew members.

[Marco's disguise is better than most--it catches the attention of the Tyrant, who is just as fooled as the other Navy officers are and assumes that he's one of them. Granted, what gets her to actually approach is his impressive dancing prowess, which she honestly should have expected from at least one person there. Who else would she try to dance with than the best?]

[Waiting for a break between songs (after a particularly energetic swing-dancing number), the masked woman approaches with as casual a smile as she can manage and a hand outstretched.]

Mind if I join you?

Faye chuckled and nodded at his comment, "I told you it was. If I was your dream girl, you'd be having the time of your life right now."

"Trust me, my 'dream girl' is better off without me. I wrecked her life enough, as it is."

[she pulls away, shrugging. Then, her friendly expression returns]

So. Let's get down to business, hm?

[Ragna would lie if he said he's not relieved to see that─ if he's to spend the entire evening here, he'd prefer it not to be filled with awkward silence. Thus, there's a small grin on his face as the Grim Reaper replies.]

Sure thing. [He makes a pause, his smile fading away as he frowns slightly.] ... is what I wanna say, but. What is there to do here, anyway?

[Nothing that would interest him, it seems.]

Faye just tuts at that and glances around the room - she's listening, but she's not sure how interested she is right now. "You lose points for talking about other women, you know."

"Then it's a good thing we aren't on a date. Let's drift toward the distant side of the room. Some people over there look pretty important, judgin' from all the medals."

"I'd have left you alone on the dancefloor already if it was." She leans in that little bit closer, and looks over his shoulder for these important people with medals. "Hmm, I bet those boys have a pretty penny to spend..."

[alwaysgrumpy]

"All the more reason. Once we get by them I'll disengage and search for do a little recon. You can chat away to your heart's content, since they'll think your dance partner left."

[myfayevalentine]

"Perfect. I'm sure I learned some interesting information from them. They'll know a lot, with so many medals."

[He looked confused instead, but it was a natural enough reaction that it worked just as well, even earning a laugh from some of the officers. It seemed L-Elf had gone from "young man out of place at a party" to "young man completely at a loss for what to do when attempting to interact with a woman." It would be better if no one pointed that out to L-Elf, but at least it was effective.]

Faking a laugh isn't going to make me blend in any better.

We go around, acting like we belong here. I try to get as much jewelry, cash, or sensitive information. You're my bodyguard in case I get caught, alright?

"...You know, this ain't so hard. Once you get the foot placement out of the way, the rest comes pretty naturally."

He starts to lead a bit more, moving them both closer to the target zone.

"Do you dance a lot, back home?"

[If there’s one thing Mako can relate to it’s needing a source of income at a young age. Any respect outside of simply being a fellow crew mate just got a small boost.]

Is that why you skipped the ball, to watch here instead?

[A quick look from the party, to Corsair, and then to the Sun before Mako looks back over to Roxas. Keeping an eye on things is his main concern, but this kid’s a good distraction from letting his mind focus on something that’s not stressful.]

Faye notices when he begins to lead more, and says nothing about it but keeps going and laughs. "Does this mean you're actually enjoying yourself now?"

"Not really. Not like this. But I like it, and it's a useful skill to have."
