Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

[At the start of it all, Chandra's not really sure of what to do. The crowds she likes, and it's easy to lose herself in them, and the food tables are pretty grand too. The smells of all sorts of rich foods are just...well...the scent of pure bliss. Her red dress, high cut and modest, might look a little out of place on the young pyromancer but she's definitely not shy about talking to people.

Approach at will, but be prepared for her to talk your ear off.]

[She's only being a wallflower because she doesn't really know what one does at something this formal. She looks up when he speaks though.]

I'm trying to avoid meat still. What's good?

I haven't tried anything but the meat and the cheese, and the stew, but that has meat.

[Holds up his pinky finger.] One, because the D brothers are likely to inhale it all and I don't want to be near that savagery. And two, [Holds up his ring finger also now, his expression dropping more serious.] I feel murderous enough already that I don't need any added incentive.

[She looks up from a plate of meat bites.]

Well, of course I am Kairi. Not sure what one does at this, but if it's eating, that's perfectly fine!

I can't say I actually know myself as I've never been to one, but if there's food it is there to be eaten.

[She has never heard of food that would need to be stared at or something, that would just be really odd. She goes to pick up a plate and gets a few things before looking around.]

Are you going to wonder around later? I'm thinking of doing so.

Well yeah, I've got to dance and all that, right?

[And she looks slyly around.]

Fun things? [Give her a moment to think about it, she had an idea but sometimes she couldn't be certain.] Ah, right. Fun things.

[Chandra leans close, sliding an arm around Kairi conspiratorially, and gives the teen a wink.]

'Round midnight, I think, there's going to be a show these guys won't ever forget. Since they're all in here for security, I think that their ships and the gates to this fort are going to meet with an unfortunate accident. It's gonna be a real blast.

Red, check. Love of food, check. I sense a possible friendship in the making.

[Chandra nods to the stranger, audibly swallowing the cheese she'd been chewing on to reply.]

...Food is the one thing all humans have in common. Whether their tastes are different or not, that is an individual thing. But food is... Divine because of that connection.

...but this stuff is definitely bordering on divine. I haven't had anything like this since I ended up here.

[Two ginger women wandering around a masquerade in not-too-flashy red dresses are bound to find each other eventually. The Tyrant just happens to walk up first.]

Oh, what a nice mask! Did you make it yourself?

[Chandra looks over and fiddles with her mask a little self-consciously when she's approached.]

I didn't, no. I bought it at the faire. I'm not so handy.

Hey, that's fine! [She laughs and takes a small sip from the glass of white wine she snagged on the walk over.] I didn't make mine, either. Did you get that dress at the faire, too? It's so pretty!

[Yes, yes, smalltalk. Codi's kind of sunk into that rhythm at this point.]

Actually this one I've had for a while. Found it on Deesuko Ballia.

[And she'd stolen the heck out of it. Smiling guiltily, she pops a bit of cheese into her mouth.]

[So cheeky! Codi lacks the perception to connect "found" and "stolen," but even then it would only serve to amuse her. She continues as normal.]

Deesuko Ballia? I don't think I've been--but if they have such nice clothes, I should stop by! Anything to get out of these rags, yeah?

[True, Codi bought her dress on Empieza, and on impulse at the time, but already the costumes of the other attendees are making her regret that decision. Empieza fashions are just so bland!]

Well, it's a pirate nest. We stopped by there a while back and it was pretty great. I mean, a pirate's paradise and all.

[Chandra laughs at the comment all the same. She's not much of one for fashion, but the difference in their outfits is pretty plain even to her.]
