Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

What: The Masquerade Ball + Ambush (12am)

He flashed the younger man a grin at that. "You tryin' to tell me somethin', bud? You just missed it. Had to beat them off with a stick." He reached up to mess with the mask, putting it in proper place again while glancing off to the crowd in the lobby. "Had some help." A single shoulder shrug. God, he even shaved. This was bullshit.

"How's your night going so far?"

Ace laughed. He didn't laugh in the normal Ace way. His eyes kind of rolled back and his tongue came out for a second and it was a lot more like a demon cackling than anything else, but Ace snapped back into place and became completely composed all over again.

"Ahh, it's goin' pretty well. Good thing I got here when I did," He gestured over his shoulder with his thumb. "Remember the faces of the idiots I got laughin', by the way. They're marks."

Ace. No. Ace, that laugh is disturbing. An unseen brow raised behind his mask, watching the other laugh. He shook his head, amused looking none the less.

A glance over to that group though and he nodded. He'll remember then for sure. "How many does that make it so far?" because he's noticed a few himself that he intends to get close with.

"I lost count when I saw your baby face," Ace snickered, holding up eight fingers. "That's where I lost count. There was over a dozen of them in that circle, though. They were all pretty nervous when I first spoke to them, so it got obvious that they were playin' along until I got 'em relaxed. If they were genuinely nervous for other reasons, they woulda stayed tense."

Still, he had to leave that on a high note, "Plus, some of the ladies in that group were pretty jacked. That ain't normal, for countesses and nobles, right? Some of those noble men like to keep athletic, but for women it ain't encouraged. Means they're all pretty decently trained."

He didn't mind speaking out loud where they were. There was enough noise and Logan had better hearing than anyone there. While the crowd would drown out most everything, if Ace looked casual and didn't hush his voice, no one would try to listen.

Ace wasn't too loud, he felt. Sure, he could talk softer, but no one seemed to be paying attention. He took in the information, glancing over at the crowed that Ace had left. His hand reached up to stroke at his chin, frowning a bit. Yeah, Thatch is going to get another ear full about this later. "Not as baby faced as you, twerp." He said lightly, not at all upset about it.

Well trained huh? Again, he's not really surprised. What surprised him was that they were letting Ace, and others, waltz around as it was. "They're waiting on something." He said lightly, eyes drifting from another group of people to Ace. "Think they might actually be prepared for this?" He said with a small snort, taking a sip of his drink and glancing off at one of his own targets again.

"They're under-prepared," Ace sighed towards Logan, shrugging. It was plain as day. There was no way they could rig up the proper weapons and counter-attacks they needed to take out the pirate force that had been gathered. Maybe they only expected them all to attack early in the party when the ships had been laid in a set path, but by then the ships were intermingling and a fire-fight would be a major loss on the Navy's part.

"The worst they can do is draw reinforcements in," To which his real disappointment showed. "Unless they have something brand new to show us, this is their loss already."

Hmm. He could see that, though there were a few people he spoke to who seemed uncomfortable about pirates being here in general. Like they were ready for something to happen. He'd taken a stroll around to get the layout of the area. There were plenty of places for reinforcements to pour in through.

Over his glass he spoke softly. "I don't think they realized how many of us are reckless rebels." He snorted softly to that and said, "I'm sticking near a few entrances tonight. If they send some in, I want to start wrecking their numbers before they get far."

And a pointed look to Ace. "Unless you need me somewhere else..." Captain. The title however went unspoken, but it was a silent nod to the younger man that he'd take an order if it was needed. Though he had a list he was going to mess up, and he didn't care what anyone said.

"Nah," Ace waved his hand nonchalantly, shrugging off the suggestion. For all he knew, the spying that was going on was most intensive than he assumed. He could have been wrong and those guys could have been a lot more skilled than indicated.

"Do what you will and focus on havin' fun, alright? It'll throw them off," He stretched his arms out and lowered head to bow to Logan respectfully, one hand poised behind his back. "When the signal comes, then you can go ahead and have at it."

He snorted lightly when told to have fun. There was a bit of a lopsided smile on his face though, a hand reaching up to fix his mask once more. the dramatic bow was meat with a halfhearted bow of his own.

"The fun will start after you give the signal. Until then I suppose I'll have to grin and bare it." He was oddly enjoying himself, between bouts of finding people he wanted to gut. He's leaving here with one of those coats as well. A souvenir, of course. Better then the one he came in.

Ace shut his eyes and nodded to Logan as he turned to find someone else to socialize--hopefully someone he'd want to kill, later. He had no idea who killed Kairi and if they were even around, but if he got any clues, it would be likely that he'd announce the ambush even sooner.
