Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

-Tojiko was, technically, off duty. But that didn't stop her from being alert to any sudden problems. She knew that both her crew, the Spades, and maybe a number of others had plans for the evening, to try and get something, anything, out of their enemy ranks. But for her, the focus was just on getting her head back together. Since regaining a living form, things had been a roller coaster. Mood swings, depression, and a serious questioning of if she had done the right thing...

She was counting on Young Link to help her through that tonight so she could get back on track to help her crew and find those shards. And what better way than a temporary retreat back to court life... Well, at least a more Western flavor of it. A woman of her status didn't have a lot of difficulty blending in, either way.-

[Lenalee had made it through at least an hour of blending in after she figured out how one does in this type of situation. She had started to get use to it, even smiling and dancing when she was asked to. It was fun and gaining things from the men was quite easy. After a dance she had made her way around, thinking now was a good as time as any to speak to other people.]

What do you think of this event?

It is not unlike some of the court events from my homeland, though decidedly more Western in flavor. -Something she had gotten a lot more used to since arriving in the world they found themselves in. She could even wear a dress like she was without too much discomfort at the level of bare skin.-

[Lenalee knew of these kind of things. She knew that they were usually something higher up would have, in this case it being quite a similar thing. But she was most curious as to what they meant by that.]

Then what were they like back where your from?

They were akin to the court events of the Northern Dynasty... or so I'm told, anyways. I've never actually been to China. But it was a lot of pomp and circumstance, as you can imagine. And more sitting than standing.

[Lenalee had gone to pick something up to nibble as she pauses momentarily.]

While I am from China, I hadn't been there long enough to know, myself. Which is a shame because I could have helped a bit there.

Either way, I find myself comforted by a bit of familiar regality.

That's good at least. [She gives a small smile before putting the strawberry into her mouth, taking a bite.]

... What is that, actually? That you just ate.

[bloodheels]

What this? [She holds up the strawberry.] it's called a strawberry. they are delicious. Want to try?

I've heard of them, but this actually the first time I think I've seen one... I'd like to try it, yes.

[bloodheels]

[She goes over and picks up the bowl that contains them before holding them out.]

-Tojiko was very delicate and antiquated in her eating habits, just barely plucking the fruit with her fingertips and even covering her mouth as she took a bite, chewing slowly...-

My goodness...

[She gave a small smile before putting the platter with the strawberries down.]

I'm going to assume that goodness was a good thing?

[Since Draco's not one to go around mingling with a bunch of muggles people he doesn't know, he pretty much beelines straight for Tojiko once he spots her.

This entire ball is somehow a much grander affair than the Yule Ball was last winter, which is quite the feat since he assumes none of it was put together with magic. Though it's hard to top the Great Hall, but the sheer size and elegance of this Masquerade is impressive, at least, even to him.

As such, he's in fairly high spirits and even manages to smile at Tojiko as he comes up.]

-Wow, she... hadn't really expected a compliment like that, simple as it was. Sure, their relationship had improved significantly over the last few months, but...-

Mm. You're looking quite dapper yourself.

[dragonbadfaith]

[Lifts his chin, smile turning a tad cocky -- though he's more teasing than smug.]

Why thank you. I do clean up nicely, don't I? All this roughing it on the high seas, I was worried my hair would be damaged beyond repair or I'd end up as red as a bloody lobster, but I've held out all alright. I'm glad for the excuse to dress up again, though.

[Of course he'd prefer to be in Wizarding dress robes, but he'll take what he can get.]

Hmm. -A small smile.- You do seem much more in your element at gatherings like this. And quite a bit happier than you have been for some time. -She sort of missed his good mood during Topsy shenanigans given her own experiences, sadly.-

I suppose this is more my natural setting. Might as well enjoy it while I can.

[He glances around the room in approval, then looks back to Tojiko.]

And you? Are you enjoying it?

Seems this was just the sort of thing I needed to lift my spirits. Young Link has been quite the gentleman.

If quite the awkward-sized and aged date. I managed to hit him with a Scourgify spell before he took off, though, so if he smells clean you can thank me for that.

Well it's not as if I mind how small he is... though I suppose I should thank you for that.
