Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

[Fuu herself seemed to be dressed simply and cheaply as possible and she didn't mind it much. She did her best never the less. She was currently sticking around a Naval officer trying quite hard to get something interesting, useful hopefully out of him but this time was to no avail. With a sigh of defeat she made her way to the side, standing next to him quietly for a moment.]

Parties like this are a perfect way to mingle in the crowd, find out about each other and generally have fun. Do you think so?

[He's only been invited to a handful as a guest, all of those within the last year on Module 77. He's attended more than that, of course, but only as part of missions. This one is no exception.]

[He shouldn't be suspicious, but the questions are a bit pointed. Small talk is necessary for his cover, though, so at least he blends in a little better. Conversation is a sacrifice he'll have to make.]

Except for the ones that were school functions. Those were...

[He hesitates to call them "fun," because honestly he enjoyed the parties he attended to gather intel and perhaps set explosives or assassinate attendees more than high school social functions.]

School functions, I believe are suppose to be more fun, unlike these ones that are more fun.

[She assumes at least, after all she never went to any of these types herself.]

So different is a god way of putting it. [She reaches over she needed a drink as her mouth was getting a little dry, but all there seemed to be was alcoholic drinks. Couldn't there just be something she could have. Oh well some small bite sized food would have to do for the moment.]

Have you tried this yet? [She holds it up and puts it in her mouth. Since she is polite she waits until she's finished eating before talking again.]

Maybe not, but sometimes doing things you don't want to helps in finding what one might need.

[She gives a smile, and wondered if he could figure out what she meant.]

Are you saying you have something to offer? If not, you should find someone else to talk to.

[She sighed slightly. He's really not one for small talk, at least this is what she assumed.]

Are you going to ask someone to dance? I'm sure there are plenty of ladies who would be willing.

[She assumed so at least, after all this is a ball.]

It would draw too much attention to me and it would limit the amount of information I can gather.

I find that one doesn't get information just by standing around and talking. In a ball situation it's best to blend in, do things others do and gather information that way.

[She had gone to pick up a simple drink, thankfully non alcoholic, which was rare and took a sip.]

I find there are also certain types who are much easier to do such a thing than others. Just keep your eyes open. [She knows who in her mind would be the best option. One who won't recall it the next day.]

[Was she really lecturing him on intelligence gathering? It was too bad that explaining how absurd that was would draw undue attention to him.]

Very well. I can believe it when you say that. [But she certainly wanted to watch to see how he did it, but she doubts she would be able to.]
