Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

What: The Masquerade Ball + Ambush (12am)

There are going to be two main threads. One for the ball itself and the other for the Ambush! There will be an obligatory third thread for FASHION. Just remember to tag your muse in the subject header and OTA or 'Closed to ???' as you comment.

Selphie smiled when she saw Riku in the crowd, and she lifted a hand to wave at him. She was glad that he was coming over her way, also suddenly remembering their recent conversation about dancing. Selphie hadn't expected the whistle though, and she couldn't help but blush at that, "Aww... Look at us both!"

[darknessinside]

"Eh..." Riku glanced down at himself, shrugging a little. "This isn't really my thing. I'm glad it's not something I have to wear on a regular basis."

He looked back up at Selphie with a grin. "You look so...adult right now, though." There's no way the Selphie from Destiny Islands would be able to pull off a dress like that yet. But give her a couple years. "Seriously, you look really pretty. You've probably had a ton of people asking to dance with you, huh. Are you having fun?"

"Well, it looks very handsome on you all the same, Riku." She smiled, tapping the lapel of his jacket.

She did, though, look genuinely bashful at his comments, not really sure about how to react to being told she looked adult, or really pretty. She looked down at her heeled shoes and laughed awkwardly, "Heh. Well, maybe one or two... But yeah, this is good fun. How about you?"

He shrugged again.

"I've mostly just been...waiting."

For things to happen. He was trying to pick out suspicious looking people in the crowd, wondering who all might be undercover Navy.

"I told you before, I'm not big on dancing. But..." He held out a hand, grinning. "I'd make an exception for you, if you want. I figure it's kind of tradition."

"Waiting for... Your one true love to come and ask you to dance?"

Selphie almost squealed with the excitement of the thought - though there's a look in her eye that says she's only teasing, because she knows fine well that's not what Riku would be waiting around for.

"I'd like that very much!" She beamed at him, happily taking up his hand, "Just like old times, right?"

Riku laughed.

"Oh yeah, definitely. How'd you guess?"

He shook his head, then led Selphie out onto the dance floor and turned to face her, sliding his other hand around her waist.

"...I'm a little rusty. Probably the last time I did this was...also that first time."

"Because I know you, Riku, and I've read all of your secret diaries." She winked at him, and did her best to keep a straight face at all her playing around.

"Aww, Riku, that makes me feel so special." Smiling, Selphie got herself into a dancing pose as the band struck up something a little more lively than a slow dance. "Let's see just how rusty you are!"
