Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

[She is absolutely flying by the seat of her pants right now and she has no regrets. Not that it matters, she figures--being fickle is just as good a lie as any well-researched disguise and title to match. A giggle smuggled in every once in a while doesn't hurt, either. One of them escapes presently.]

Please humor me, sir--I lost a bet. [She smiles and shrugs in mock hopelessness. It's worked before!] I have to play the part of the masquerade more formally. But I take it you've had finer fortune than me; may I ask who I am sharing this evening with?

[Marco arched an eyebrow and whispered quietly in her ear.] Do try to come up with a better lie if you choose to dance with any other men less on uptake this evening, eh?

[He pulled back to lead her into a slow-tempoed waltz, relieved that at least it was an easy dance. For her sake more than his. :P]

Marco, eh.

[It's a genuine worry to have! The dancing, of course--not the lying part, which Codi is very amused by and willing to play with while she has the opportunity.]

Captain Marco, then. What makes you think I'm "on the uptake" myself? [She grins, happy for the close proximity that the waltz allows them.] For all you know, I could just be here for the dancing and the shellfish.

Nay, I'm but a lowly lieutenant, Ma'am! [Marco gave a salute.]

And you're terrible at playing the part, yoi.

Aye--I'm not much of a liar. [She lies.] Call me the Tyrant.

Miss Tyrant. That's an unusual name.

It's more of a title. [She grins pointedly and pokes a finger to his chest.] "Lieutenant."

And I thought pirate kings and emperors were unusual.
