Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

There are going to be two main threads. One for the ball itself and the other for the Ambush! There will be an obligatory third thread for FASHION. Just remember to tag your muse in the subject header and OTA or 'Closed to ???' as you comment.

[Chandra chuckles deep in the back of her throat, her smile turning somewhat nasty. She's just so supremely confident in her abilities that being guarded doesn't really occur to her. Even at a party like this, it'd just make her improvise.]

If you weren't on my side and I decided you were out to get me, you wouldn't be standing there, you know. People who cause me trouble have this unfortunate habit of spontaneously combusting.

[And the nastiness drains away, replaced by curiosity.]

And you've heard of me, huh? Is that good or bad, Tyrant?

We have more in common than I thought, then.

[Codi grins back, mostly unfazed. Fire is powerful, certainly...she'll have to keep an eye out for this one. But if she's under orders and they're on the same page, then Codi shouldn't have anything to worry about. She hopes.]

Passing conversation is rarely a bad thing, but I'll leave that up to you.

Oh? You're a pyromancer yourself?

[At that, Chandra will start to probe Codi with her mana-sense, seeing what sort of power she might actually have.]

[Codi isn't a pyromancer, but Chandra should be able to sense that she isn't quite lying, either--she's practically brimming with electricity. Codi wouldn't consider herself a channel of red mana, but it's certainly a relevant parallel.]

[In any case, the Tyrant is completely oblivious to this.] Not quite--I do like the idea of setting people I don't like on fire, though. [She shrugs. That's a casual thing to say, right?]

[Lightning is an aspect of red mana, and Chandra can and often does use it herself. It's actually somewhat nice, feeling it too. The mask probably resonates with a little blue for illusionary qualities, but she has little issues with it.]

Heh, it's a good way to go about it. Electricity's almost as good. [A little hint that she's onto you.] But in any case, I don't think you'll give me a reason. The real enemy is...after all...the buffet table.

[And she pops more cheese into her mouth with a grin.]

[The hint is received, loud and clear! Although Codi is more impressed by it than alarmed--she has other tricks up her sleeve than just her abilities, and she intends to keep it that way. Her reaction is merely a returned grin, wide and playful.]

I dunno--I certainly wouldn't argue if you improvised a fondue.
