Hazmats vs Shepherds
Who: Hazmat crew, Shepherds of racing justice, and the Red Eyes (NPC crew)
Where: at sea, and then on Safario Island
When: 7/6 through 7/31 ALL MONTH, ALL RACE
What: the entirety of the racing shenanigans for these two crews plus their NPC foes. First sailing to Safario, then to Ebony & Ivory, and then a final climactic showdown on Dnalsi.
Warnings: let me know if any besides shounen violence
Style: anything you want
Status: closed to members of Hazmat and Shepherd crews
Considering that the Friend Ship set out safely and securely after the race's start, the U.S.S. Booyakasha II had a bit of a head start at first, but between Scurvey Dog's delightful gift of chickens and the ensuing vegetable rain, they slowed down after the first day. Will it be for long, considering they have an Avatar on board? Let's find out!
The first token is located on Safario, in the East, a place of bizarre animals and sandy beaches and not a hell of a lot else. Who will have to fight who in order to safely land their ships and find the jerk with the token clue? Can they brave the Red Eyes with their poisoned sabers as well as vicious winged bears? The Shepherds take it, but can they keep it?
From there it's on to the strange island of Ebony & Ivory, where the island itself may not look dangerous but the culture has surprises in store for them. There's a week of strange rainbows and anglerfish to battle on the way to it.
The final stop is the cloud island Dnalsi, where everything is upside down and the laws of physics don't apply. What kind of place is this for a final battle, and who's going to end up with all the tokens? What if it's the Red Eye crew?
[ooc: information on our adversaries and route is here. Make your own starter threads for any time/location during the entirety of the race: Safario, E&I, Dnalsi, or any of the strange phenomenon and sailing times in between.]

[A] For Wan, [B] For Hazmat [C] OTA! Sea and Safario!
[She had spoken to Wan and made it to the woman who had all the magic to transport her anywhere. It took a bit, of course, slinking around on Earth was a bit bothersome, but she was strong and was getting good at sneaking around. The lady was very nice as well, giving her a bit more information and sending her to the U.S.S. Booyakasha II.]
[When she hit the deck she rolled, a mess of green fin and pale skin and half damp red hair. She came to a stop, shells down, hair splayed across the ground and over her shoulders. THAT.... that was disorienting. Oh my! her head spun a bit, but she pushed up with her arms, sitting up some, and... peeked through her hair. A hand reaching up to push it out of her way.]
[She was on a ship. Oh... oh dear. How interesting!]
[B: For all others interested]
[She’ll have been on the ship for a few hours, but she’ll want to explore and meet the others. So, though Wan was setting her something up for a wet place to live, Ariel doesn’t mind land swimming around here or there. When no one is looking, she might move here, or there. Mostly staying on deck though, because it’s really amazing up here! the view of the sea is great, and so high up! And the deck is so interesting! And there are interesting people here too! She wants to meet everyone!]
[So here, have some time, on the ship, to meet with the mermaid that joined your crew on the sly.]
[C]
[later, when the crew is on land at Safario, unless someone wants to cart her around she won't be going very far from the edge of the shore. Not until she can figure out how to get mobile on her own! But That’s okay, because she’s exploring the waters around this island. In the water. If you need something that is in the water, find her. If you go swimming, find her. She’ll also be keeping an eye on the boat, just in case!]
[So, boat, sea or beach, come say hi or talk!]
no subject
[The voice Ariel had been talking to belonged to a scruffy human that hurried over with a soft gasp of surprise.]
I've almost got the lifeboat ready to fill with water. Do you want some help sitting up?
no subject
[Pushing her hair back in full she rolled her fin under her, and sat up pretty well, for the most part. One hand holding her up. Wide eyes looking at him and around.]
I'm fine, thank you! [Using both harms now she pulled herself up more, looking past the human and over the deck] This is really amazing! A real ship! I've been on one, but never on one. [wait, he mentioned something about a life]
Lifeboat?
no subject
I have to take the oars out, but it should be big enough for you to lay down in and keep your tail wet most of the time. In rough seas it'll need to be refilled. Because the water will spill out... but we can do that any time. Or, I can do that.
no subject
It’s wonderful! And I can stay here while on the ship? It’s really alright? [no, really, you couldn’t have made her happier right now. Oh but--] Getting water this far up will be a lot of trouble, wouldn’t it?
no subject
[Wan leaned over the side of the boat, falling half-into it as he grabbed for the oars. Once they were out and set carefully with the rest of the supplies, he backed up to give himself room. The water forms he did probably looked a lot like dancing to her, and it certainly looked like the sea water that rose up over the side of the ship in a controlled funnel was trying to dance with him.
Wan filled the boat until there was about a foot between the top of it and the water. A decent enough gap for the water to move in without spilling every time the ship lurched with the waves. The rest of the water was released back into the sea and Wan jogged over to Ariel, offering his hands.]
Would you like me to help you over? I know it's not the best bedroom, but we can try to get you a nicer one after the race is over.
no subject
My father can do stuff like that! You’re amazing! [she chirped, and when he came over to offer her help she blushed a bit, wanting to hide behind her hands or her hair or something, but she gave a nod, taking the offer for his assistance., raising up some to make it easier.
If you don’t mind. Thank you.

[Wan's smile softened a little as he bent down to easily scoop her up in his arms. One going behind her back and the other under her tail. He held her firmly and didn't seem at all troubled by her weight. She was pretty light compared to a lot of the stuff he regularly tossed around.
If he noticed the blush
he's oblivious, he certainly didn't act like it. And he was very gentle as he carried her to the lifeboat. Set up as it was, it actually took a little climbing to get in, but somehow he managed to lift himself up high enough that he could safely lower her into the newly-made water bed.And then he somehow stayed standing up high enough he could lean against the side and watch/talk to her.
He's cloudwalking again.]
I hope this will be good enough for now. I already have some ideas for how to make the ship easier for you to get around on.

B
When she makes it to the deck, she spots a mass of red hair slowly moving along. It looks like a girl and she... seems to have a fish tail?
Um, okay.]
Hey...
[Mona Lisa approaches her.]
Are you alright?
[You're kind of a mermaid, and out of water.]
no subject
[Stopping like she got caught she blinked, and turned, peeking through strands of red hair. She then smiled! This one too wasn’t exactly human, was she? How interesting!]
I’m fine! Hello... [she curled around to sit on her tail, sitting up and leaning forward, looking at her.] Are you alright? <small.[it was polite to ask, right?]
no subject
Huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine. No problems here.
[Just talking to a mermaid, apparently!]
What about you?
no subject
No problems! [she said with a smile, leaning forward a bit and looking the other over, so curious.] My name's Ariel. Who are you?
no subject
Nice to meet you, Ariel.
[... She was familiar with shaking hands, right?]
B!
Pauses.
...
Backtracks to stare at her.]
.....Take a bad dip in some mutagen, sister? [Peers at more closely.] That, or you're from straight out of a kid's storybook.
no subject
[Was this one of the Turtle people that Wan spoke about? Sister? they weren’t related...]
[Her head tilted, unsure]
I... don’t know what mutagen is, but I came from Atlantica.
[leaning in now, peeking up at him she looks SO curious] Where are you from?
no subject
[Thinks.]
Never heard of it.
[So she's not a mutant, though. Good to know. Raph juts a thumb at his chest.]
I'm from New York City. The name's Raph. Who're you?
no subject
I’m Ariel. Wan said it would be okay to travel with your... crew. [Yes, crew, that was it.] He said it would be safer to see the world this way.
no subject
[So someone from another world. He didn't think there were legendary storybook creatures running around NYC. Or swimming.
They've just got aliens. Obviously.]
Yeah, well, he's not wrong. This place is kind of crazy. So you just got here?
[He eyes that fish tail.]
...Are you, uh. Gonna be stuck in that tub thing?
no subject
I did! I was told I just missed the take off of a race too. There were still a lot of humans in Port Chance but they said there were so many more.
[He’s eyeing her tail. it shifted, fin trying to hide behind her.]
I’m not in it right now... [She shifted on the deck, looking off towards the lifeboat a ways down.] I should stay in it, I’m sure, but there’s so much to explore, and it’s not too hard to get in and out of.
C?
Hiccup and Toothless did get a headstart in scoping out the place, and they had been at it up until now. It was time for a break. He has been aware that they had their newest shipmate around, though. His break is also a chance to actually say hi without being so busy with everything else at the moment.]
Hey! Um. Ariel?
no subject
[At the moment she was popped up on a rock near the beach. Seeing the two fly around once in a while was cool. Waving happily at the boy who called out she dived off the rock sleekly, and swam over to beach herself for a bit.]
Hello! [She was smiling large, excited to see someone from the crew] How is the island? Do you know if they found anything?
no subject
[He takes his time over the sand once he gets close, his peg leg sinking in a bit every other step.]
There's a whole bunch of wildlife around, but they don't look like anything I've ever seen.
As for the rest of the crew...I haven't heard much. Toothless and I were gonna try flying around again, though.
no subject
[With strong arms she pulled herself over to a bunch of rocks, the water splashing up near them. Honestly she was impressed by the one leg. She thought it was amazing that he could walk on one leg and one very interesting device.]
Nearly everything I see is a new form of wild life for me.
Toothless and you.... you both fly a lot?
no subject
[Still, he smiles at her enthusiasm. And quietly impressed with her arm strength. Hiccup's nose wrinkles as the spray of water goes up in an instant, hastily running a hand over his face.]
Um, yeah! We do. We sorta have to until I can figure out another arrangement.
no subject
[she settled up on a rock, fin bent like she was seated properly. Hands in her lap]
Another arrangement?
