Battle On Th' High Seas

Who: Anyone who wants to partake
Where: In the waters between Turvey Top and Ebony & Ivory
When: October 17th 2pm-6pm
What: Battle, mayhem, treasure and piracy
Warnings: Violence
Status: Very open!
Around 1:45pm, ships gathered in the waters between Turvey Top and Ebony & Ivory will see the gigantic Naval frigate, the Argustos, chugging through the calm waters to destinations unknown. Close by and running a little ahead on the wind is a Naval scout ship, caravel class, named Pantopes.
Sharp eyes will be able to spot the ships on the Argustos' tail, though, and the giant frigate will weigh anchor to prepare for the attack of the Corpse King and his five ship Armada, made of three caravels and two brig sloops.
The Corpse King himself has a brig sloop, Achlys and will be at the back end of the battle, providing cover fire.
Feel free to attack to your heart's content and loot wherever you wish. There's great treasures there for the bold and daring, and most unpleasant deaths for the unwary.
Open To - Hazmats, Cynthia, Others in the Waters!
[Ariel is an impressionable young woman. So all of this pirating that she is learning from her new crew? It's all so interesting and rebellious and amazing and dangerous and just... yes, she wants to be apart of it. She wants to be apart of this crew and help them.]
[And knowing that she CAN now? That she can do things under water to help? That's super amazing to her. First helping to steal a ship (she got SHOT at too no less) and now this? She's excited, and concerned.]
[When given her orders she nodded, and looked over to her other mermaid friend. They could do this.]
[open to Hazmats]
-----
[When it comes time to go, Ariel easily slipped over the edge of the railing of the ship, waited to make sure Cynthia would make it over, then dove in, hands and head first, diving in deep. Her body felt twisted as her legs morphed back to a green fin. She shimmied out of her skirt, twisting it around to tie at her middle like a belt, and then took off swimming.]
[To Cynthia she spoke under water.]
So long as we stay deep under water the canons will slow down before they can hit us. Bullets too I noticed will slow down. We only need to get closer to the surface to jam rudders!
[she'll also pop up from time to time to make sure people on their crew are alright.]
[Open to Cynthia]
-----
[AND... IF ANOTHER MERMAID HAPPENS TO BE AROUND... Ariel is also keeping an eye out for crew, but she might be seen, a couple of times, pushing a Navy man up out of drowning levels of water and up on something floating in the water.]
[Ariel doesn't want anyone to DIE, at least not while she can help it, so yes, if she's not wrecking rudders with Cynthia she might actually be helping others on either side.]
[Open to Keimi or ANY crew that might have fallen into the water!]
mostly for ariel but ota fellow fish people
She still felt uneasy leaving her boys and her pokemon up there to fight without her. But maybe jamming a few rudders would cheer her up. Destruction of private property was always fun! ]

...the heck are you doing? You know the navy likes to capture, torture and execute pirates right?
[though a mermaid he was assuming she was a foreigner and therefore a pirate. He hadn't seen any native mermaids in this world]
no subject
Not everyone is bad. Some of them are just following orders. It’s not my right to let them drown. They’re out of the battle!
no subject
They might be out of the battle at the moment, but save them and they could get back onto their ship and stab one of your crew mates in the back. Or you. If you think people you show mercy to will always appreciate it enough not to take advantage of it, you're going to find out the hard way how wrong you are...
[he felt a little bad laying in to someone he didn't know like this, but seeing her do that brought back bad memories. Memories of times he'd been merciful and ended up sorely regretting it]
no subject
I suppose that’s a chance I’ll have to take. If my captain decides against my doing it, then so be it, but until then, who knows how these people live. We’re strangers in their seas.
[she looked mildly upset, though she could understand what he meant too... so after a moment she let out a huff and...] But I understand. They’re the enemy...
no subject
Well, maybe your luck is better than mine. Maybe they will appreciate your mercy and leave you alone because you're pretty. But maybe not- just be careful and watch your back.

Yeah. I've been hurt a lot, even by people who I tried to be nice to and work with. Even by people I spared after they tried to kill me. Eventually I just gave up. Mercy for my enemies isn't something I have a lot of anymore.
[there was a short pause]
...and I know it's hard. [it was even harder to actively drown people yourself, the first few times. He thought he might scare her if he said that, though]
I guess as long as you're helping your crew it's none of my business how you do it. I just don't want you to learn the hard way how ungrateful people can be. I also come from a different world though, and overall, I'd say the people here are nicer. So maybe my pessimistic view isn't as valid here.

[a cannon ball crashed through the water a few yards away, making her ‘jump’ a bit, before swimming around him a bit to look past at the sinking ball. She’s used a few of those as rudder blocks before. She then came in near his side, giving him a smile.] Thank you, for saying something though. It’s pessimistic, but still valid. You’re very kind.
Where are you headed? Is there some way I can help you?
no subject
Kind? Heh... No, you're kind. A lot kinder than some sharky jerk swimmin' up and questioning how you do things. [it was out of concern, but he still felt sort of mean for talking to her that way]
I'm going to go sabotage the rudder of the Corpse King's flagship. I'm confident I can handle it on my own, so maybe you should stay where you'll be of most use to your crew. Thanks for asking, though. [he knew he'd better get going soon, but it'd feel rude to leave so abruptly so he decided to stay a few more seconds] What crew are you on anyway?
no subject
It’s okay. You were just concerned, and I know it’s potentially dumb. I just felt bad. oh! But if I am holding you up, please don’t let me. We both have missions!
[She arched back and grinned] Hazmat pirates! my name’s Ariel. What about you? [at least she can figure out who he was and where he was from before going back to work!]
no subject
[he looked at her more straightforwardly, remembering not so long ago he'd been reluctant to give his name out. Fortunately that tendency had gradually disappeared since arriving here] I'm Thash. I'm with the Bloody Roses, though I hope you won't let that put you off... [he was aware of his crew's reputation for burning things for no reason and killing innocent people. Two things he was against, personally.]
I should go, but maybe we'll meet again sometime. Nice to meet you Ariel...good luck.
no subject
[she smiled at him though and have a small wave] Either way, nice to meet you Thash and good luck to you too. I hope to run into you again!
[and she twisted around and dove down, going for a cannon ball or a rock. Sorry though, she's still going to help a person or two]
no subject
[He wouldn't bothered by it if she helped more people; at least she'd been warned and he hoped his concerns would turn out to be unnecessary anyway. He wasn't about to go saving any enemies himself though....the most he offered opponents mercy-wise these days was a quick death]
no subject
Keimi can be found darting across the water, encasing the drowning sailors in her bubbles as she passes them. She's not about to let anyone drown on her watch. She does her best to keep pace with the larger ship, as if waiting for something.]
no subject
[She swims faster, whirling up near by, a surprised look before she gave a wave] How do you do that?!
