Baking is very practical, by the way. But he and Mikey have been handling most of the cooking in general, although if you smell something sweet coming from the galley, it's a good bet that it's something of Gaius' doing.
Other times one may find him mending something like one of the many hidden pockets in his cloak, trying his hand at fishing, checking equipment like ropes and hammocks, and most often, eating a sweet or two. You might even catch him going through a few drills with his sword.]

Cynthia would hide out in the galley whenever she needed to think. But she still does her best to make it look like she wasn't bothered by anything.]

Someone seems to have soup simmering on the stove, and it isn't long at all before that someone steps back into the galley, an onion in hand and a couple of leeks balanced in the crook of his arm. He glances over at the woman before starting towards the counter near the stove, setting the vegetables down.]
Hey. You hungry?
[It's a reasonable thing to ask when you find someone here, right? He steps over towards the soup to give it a stir, sprinkling some seasalt into it.]
Soup'll be just a bit.
no subject
Nah, not really..
[ Now what? Should she mention her encounter with Maribelle? Should she ask him about that thing she told her? Was she even allowed to ask him? She didn't want him to get mad at her. Ok maybe she'll just keep quiet for now.]
no subject
For a couple of minutes, that's all that fills the space of silence between them, and it's only once Gaius returns to the soup to stir the mixture again that he finally speaks up.]
...so what's on your mind?
no subject
Just...trying to figure out my place on this ship.
[Which wasn't a lie either. Just because she was a girl doesn't she she didn't want to help out around the ship.]
no subject
Got a pretty laid back crew, so I'm sure anything you offer wouldn't go unappreciated.

[She just watches him cook. It really did amuse her to see him do something so...domestic. Considering they're on a pirate ship in the middle of the ocean, heading to a new land to do arceus knows what.]
It smells really good by the way.>
no subject
Thanks. Think it's just about ready.

[Her gaze returns to the table. Long fingers tapping against the wood as she figures out her next move.]
So...I figured out what you meant by "Jingles".

[After getting a couple of bowls and another spoon, he ladles out the soup. He walks over to the table, setting a bowl down in front of Cynthia before turning back to help himself.]
no subject
[And then there was the soup. She had JUST told him she wasn't hungry. But it would be rude to just push it away. At least it didn't reek of fish. She'll just poke it with her spoon for a bit.]
no subject
Heh! Yeah, I'm surprised no one's complained. Kitty, huh? Why's that?

After what seems like an hour, thin hands cling to the outer rail of the nest, followed by reddish-brown tuft of hair. The boy pulls himself up far enough so that he's dangling, taking a breath before saying:]
Well. You called me up here.
no subject
Heya, glad you made it.
[He tucks the spyglass before pointing back down towards deck.]
Okay, so I'm thinking we should probably get you better acquainted with a weapon. You know, just in case we're in a fix like the whole Navy thing. We're gonna have to go back down for that, of course.
no subject
And he was feeling pretty proud of himself, too.]
You mean I climbed all the way up here just to go back down again???
no subject
no subject
I'll appreciate that fact once I get back onto the deck.
[Hiccup then lowers himself from the rail, trying to find his footing on the ropes. It's harder with one foot, man.]
no subject
no subject
The other thing he needs to work on is remembering how wide the ropes are in comparison to his prosthetic.
Near the bottom of the rigging, the boy hangs upside-down, clearly not amused at his current state.]
no subject
You can probably learn to do that just using one leg and upper arm strength. ...maybe.
no subject
Oh, now you tell me.
[He actually just got that now, too. The hand is taken as he grabs onto the rigging with a free hand, untangling his prosthetic leg first. Having the handhold helps him regain his balance and upright position.]
no subject
[He waits until Hiccup's gotten himself down before he starts towards the stern of the ship. He pauses by a couple of barrels to pick up a bundle that he'd set there earlier, tucking it beneath an arm as they go.]
no subject
Curiosity strikes as the thief acquires that bundle, of course.]
That's a pretty big bundle for one weapon, don'tcha think?
no subject
[With a brief grin, he uncovers the pair of swords once they've reached a suitable spot on the deck. He holds one in either hand, testing the weight against each other before he holds one of them out to Hiccup.]
Here, try this one.
