Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

There are going to be two main threads. One for the ball itself and the other for the Ambush! There will be an obligatory third thread for FASHION. Just remember to tag your muse in the subject header and OTA or 'Closed to ???' as you comment.

[An excellent dancer, Robin will likely spend most of the night here. Priority goes to Naval Officers, of course, but she might be able to spare a turn around the dance floor for those of lesser rank. Provided they ask politely.]

[Gah, why can he be smooth with everyone else but her?!]

[He will give up and run away forever and you can't stop him!]

[Except of course you can and should and thank you for doing so.]

[It isn't her place to stop him if he chooses to run. She would prefer he be free and choose to stay because he wants to, not because she keeps him in a small cage.]

[She curtsies a little, as that's all the cut of her dress will allow, and holds out her hand expectantly.]

[Takes her hand cheerfully and leads her out to the dance floor in a slow waltz, resting his other hand carefully on her waist.]

Having fun so far, I hope? [She's been smiling a lot, but it's not like Selphie's, so he's not sure.]

Does it look like I'm enjoying myself?

[Maybe he's a little more perceptive than he gives himself credit for.]

The balding gentleman next to the ice sculpture ought to be added to your list, by the way.

I knew there was a reason I adore you.

[He makes a mental note, though he doesn't overtly glance over at the man, he'll have to wait for a turn for that.]

Actually, you look out of sorts. Anything I can do? Stay by your side the rest of the night, perhaps? [Because he assumes she'll get sick of him quickly, so he thinks he's making a good joke.]

[Robin deftly maneuvers them around so Marco can look, while managing to make it look like Marco led her into the turn on purpose. She does smile, her real smile for a moment.]

As appealing as the idea sounds, tonight isn't entirely about enjoying ourselves, is it?

[She gets a real grin back in return, thanks to the spin and he nods quietly as he memorizes the man.]

You're the second person to remind me of that. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm truly a workaholic to enjoy this so much, eh?

[She has a suspicion who it might have been. Someone far too willing to take pleasure in causing others pain.]

[Vice versa.] Selphie. She's sort of the sunshine of the crew, she can usually find the good in anything, but she was a bit worried about everything else later. So I told her to get out everyone she wanted to protect early tonight before the hammer falls.

[He leads Robin in a slightly swing move and another spin.] She's also been dying to meet you, but she'll probably talk your ear off, so if you want me to say it slipped my mind, I will.

Yo! Robin! [waves at her and comes up to her] Wanna dance?

[Luffy you are the perfect height to be the most awkward dance partner ever. Robin giggles.]

Of course! Do you know the steps?

Yeah! Marco taught me.

[he slips an arm around her back to get into position]

I washed my hands, too! shishishi [well that was before he came here this morning and he'd eaten a lot since then but the sentiment is right, right?]

[Well he's one of the few people who certainly knows how to set her off balance from the very beginning. He washed his hands... what? Robin chuckles, and follows his lead.]

I should have known you'd be that excited to come here. Does it meet with your expectations?

[he's an energetic lead and forgot most of the steps but at least he's not stepping on her feet]
