Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

Isn't this really what the ball is all about? Selphie lingered by the dancefloor in a lavendar ball gown, decorated with sparkles. Her entire back is bare, which was a bold move, but then, she wasn't planning on dressing up any half measures, so she chose a dress that flattered her figure as much as was possible without showing quite too much. Her hair was delicately held up, and she wore make up that she hoped wasn't too much, but was pretty, with a silver eye mask to match. There's a pretty silver bracelet on one of her wrists to cover up her spade tattoo. She held a drink in her hand, watching people dance, and waiting to see if anyone she had agreed to dance with would come by, including a certain someone in particular. So, if this Selphie looked like a lady at a dancefloor waiting for someone, that's because she kind of is.

He's not exactly that cretin someone, now is he. But he does see her in her bright dress. There are others here dressed as brightly though, so it's not surprising. She does stand out however. Maybe standing out, however, works well in her case.

He'd come up beside her, a drink in his hand, almost half done. It was ridiculous how well he cleaned up, and where the hell did he get good enough manners for something like this? The man had many talents. And this good manner is only going to last a short while before he gets bored and wants to tear into things. He wants to see if Selphie recognizes anyone, because that'll be the first bastards he'll go for when the time comes. But he simple stands near by, as if he hadn't seen her, then offered a hand out to her.

"I think I owe you a dance."

Thank goodness for black gloves. Ace stood in the wash room, dabbing blood off of his cheek with the thumb of his glove. Behind him, there was a waiter bound up and gagged, knocked unconscious. One of the hidden navy soldiers mixed into the crowd, Ace had spotted him and made off with him fairly quickly. Just after Ace shoved him along with a few others into a supply closet, he left the washroom and composed himself with a smile--returning to the ballroom with a smile.

Walking along the edge of the room, he looked through the party for anyone of interest. Though his own priority was mostly spying and retaliation, the moment he spotted Selphie, he was distracted from his goal. His priorities could wait, especially given that she was looking a bit on the bored side.

"Hey," He spoke up to her, popping up out of the crowd. "Waiting for your next dancer?"

Marco bows and gives her a wink behind his sunglasses. "May I have this dance, lovely lady?"

She should be able to recognize him by his voice, but if not, he'll play it up and tease her about it the whole time even though he promised her a dance an introduction to Robin.

Riku was more or less hanging around on the outskirts of the dance floor for most of the night, keeping an eye on the people he knew and kind of waiting for all hell to break loose, since it kind of seemed like an inevitable thing with what they knew about the Navy and with so many "other worlders" here. If he looked vaguely uncomfortable, that was because of the whole dressing up thing and the potential dancing he might have to do if anyone were to approach him.

When he spotted Selphie, though, he headed her way almost immediately, remembering a conversation they'd had somewhat recently about dancing together when they were kids. It was easy enough to let a smile overtake the uneasy look he'd been sporting.

"Hey Selphie." He briefly eyed her up and down, giving a low whistle. "Wow, look at you."

[Despite his attempts to be the most precious wallflower ever... Ikki will probably end having to dance a couple of times, he finds it to be a perfect excuse to back off from a group conversation when one of the wives or girlfriends or whatever they are want to dance, but their partner doesn't feel like it. A polite offering of temporary escorting her finds both the woman and the man pleased at the solution, and Ikki stuck dancing with a stranger, though he uses it to the best of his ability to gather some information. Many people underestimate how much a wife actually knows about her husband's work and how much some men talk when having fun with their woman.

However, those are rare occasions so for the most part he remains as a wallflower, doing his best to keep his Cosmo and temper in check. It grows harder as time passes and he feels the festivities to be dragging on rather than to pass quickly so the real "fun" gets started. He's free to be asked or nudged at to get him to ask for a dance, but he does not accept everyone who approaches him preferring at times to remain as a wallflower.]

[Hey! Hey Ikki! Here comes probably one of the last people you want to see. Leanne, walks up to him and holds out her hand towards him.]

Want to dance with me? It will help distract you for a little while.

[Try though you might Ikki, even you cannot resist the pull of the conga line. At least not when Marco drags you forcibly into it!]

Faye had danced round the hall a few times now, each with a different member of the Navy. One or two had seemed reasonably nice, though boring, while the other was just such an arrogant idiot. So Faye was done dancing for now. With a glass of champagne in hand, she wandered along the edge of dancefloor, greeting others with playful smiles. At this rate, she had spoken to the majority of the men at the ball. Though there was one trying to blend into the wall, it seemed, so Faye made a beeline for him and stood right next to him, "Enjoying your evening?"

[Who wants to ask Kodachi for a dance? You know you want to.]

[She's currently silhouetted against a tall cathedral-style window, waiting for a partner.]

[Ace returned from the powder room, fixing his collar. He had just gotten back from physically assaulting a man, tying him up and leaving him hidden in a supply closet. It was just the same as any of his other parties.

He bowed to Kodachi, his smile wide.]

I'm back. Sorry, I had to step out for just a minute.

[this party is really boring. There isn't even any punching going on. Or cool music or dancing around a bonfire. The meat wasn't even very big. He goes to stand by the green lady in the window, munching a plate of small chicken legs.]

There should be a bonfire. [because what kind of party was it without one?] Or singing.

[While Ragna claimed several times over he's not going to take care of Kodachi during the ball, he eventually makes an effort to seek her out among the guests to check up on her. Sure, she fits in this kind of place far better than the Grim Reaper does, and she can certainly handle herself quite well as she proved to him back on the Cahawba, but he'd still rather keep an eye on her just in case the hell breaks loose.

Not that she'll hear him admit as much.]

[He can't tell if it's the right girl or not without hearing her voice, and he doesn't actually feel like wasting a dance on a stranger, but after seeing her handle the D brothers without much trouble, Marco's pretty sure it's got to be Miss Black Rose.]

[So he goes over and gives a sweeping bow.]

[Dancing! Ace could be spotted all over the dance floor, dancing with a number of the party's lady party-goers. He wouldn't dance with anyone for too long and while he left a string of seemingly disappointed partners, he didn't get denied even once when he asked for one.

Astoundingly? Despite the fact that he was a massive brute, his dancing was classic, composed and completely perfect. He had a lot of practice in his history.]

[spots him from a distance and hides sort of behind a chair, digging in his nose produces a great green booger, dry enough to shape, but wet enough to stick, focuses and flick. Aiming for the back of his neck]

[Dancing was not really something Chandra had a whole hell of a lot of experience with. She was more than happy to use the lessons she'd been given though, because it gave her a chance to just be...well...free. Careful to reign in her louder, more fiery tendencies till the appointed hour, the Firebrand can be spotted whirling with anyone who'll get close, red hair flying.

This is surprisingly fun, she realizes, and it's easy to lose herself in the motions.]

-Link had wandered off for something, leaving Tojiko to stand rather awkwardly at the sidelines of the ball. She had wondered what it was he was needing to fetch... She twiddled her thumbs in the meantime, not certain what to do with herself.-

For all that Marco might insist he's not as good as his brothers, he really won't be leaving the dance floor much. Firstly because he doesn't want to be anywhere near the D brothers when it comes to food, secondly because he has no intentions to drink any alcohol for once, and thirdly because he might be trying to show off just a little for someone special.

There's a couple of sambas which he learned from Samba Island itself, if you think you can keep up with the high energy dances.

Of course he can't resist a tango or two.

But for the most part, he enjoys the hell out of those waltzes. And while he wasn't expecting it, there might a bit of swing dancing there too.

If you learned the chicken dance though you just got rick rolled, the latter of which might actually be used.

ELISSA DANCES - OTA, Especially those on her dance card!

Once at the party, Elissa wastes no time in making her way to the dance floor. If she isn't dancing with someone from the Navy, she is twirling around the floor with those who promised her a dance! Feel free to cut in, offer your promised dance, or ask for a dance.

Her goal for the evening is to dance with the highest ranking Naval officer who is present - and there may or may not be a wager riding on the outcome.

[An excellent dancer, Robin will likely spend most of the night here. Priority goes to Naval Officers, of course, but she might be able to spare a turn around the dance floor for those of lesser rank. Provided they ask politely.]

[The Tyrant would like to stay, but she has other matters to attend to. Keeping up with the Navy, she might say--switching out of her perception-filtering mask and having her date with Namur, though, she keeps to herself.]

[Her priorities keep her from getting to the dance floor for very long, as much as she inwardly wants to hog the spotlight. Still, for all the protesting she might put up, the Tyrant does tend to hover around the fringes, trying very hard to look busy and uninterested, but if you happen to catch her eye or ask for her hand, well...who is she to refuse?]

So this is what a human ball was like? Leanne goes to take a deep breath and waits for someone to come and ask her for a dance. Maybe she shouldn't have gone all out for a dress and mask? It might be scaring away potential men and high ranking navy officers away from her.
