[ Well, first things first, Bolin has an appointment to Nav Port himself and Pabu aboard the Sun, where ancient legends say his brother will be awaiting his arrival. Legends and his brother. Mako's generally always around for these types of things, so it's nice to have a little bit of routine re-established. He's got some reunions to get on today.
After that, it's, uh. Hello, apparent new crewmates! Wow there are a lot of you. Not that he minds. Bolin loves a chance for some non-dire, non-violent social circle formations, whether there's a good-vibrations island doing its thing or not. He's here to mingle and to entertain! And yes, that's with all the crew he can find or is introduced to.
There's gonna be a lot of walking up and introducing himself to people. Like just... a lot. Come on, what else is a person meant to do when they join up with pirates, right? Have some questions about where you come from. Or where you're going. Or what you're doing? Don't worry, he's on it. And he comes with pretty respectful manners for older people or persons of known authority, so he might even break out the sirs and ma'ams.
Long story short, Bolin's gonna kind of make it his business to be around. Doing some totally sweet tricks with Pabu, earthbending some basic stools/tables if folks are in want of them, swimming, helping people carry stuff, hanging off of his home-mates like a metaphorical lemur...
And probably gathering a small congregation of wildlife friends, which he'll be really happy about because they're all super freaking weird looking (...by Avatar standards) and he needs to investigate the matter anyway. Maybe he can train them to do cool tricks, too. Man, that would be pretty great.
[Well?! AREN'T YOU GOING TO EAT IT?! No wait, we're not doing that joke.]
[Also one of the "wildlife" of the forest, the one who surreptitiously put said flower crown on Bolin's head, a blue fucking phoenix of all things, is just staring at Bolin expectantly.]
[ First things first, Bolin's gonna stare at that... big... flamey blue bird... thing? Weird, but seriously cool. And he'll keep staring even while he's removing the thing that was placed on his head to make sure it's not, like. Made of dead animal bones or something. Animals do creepy stuff sometimes, they can't help it. Probably especially fiery birds, because they've got a huge predatory advantage, jeez.
But wait...! It's a flower crown. Like a crown, but made of flowers! ]
Hey, wow! [ He's pretty much only been to the big city or the arctic, so this is not a thing that Bolin sees a lot of. JAMMING THAT BACK ONTO HIS HEAD. Pabu, in turn, follows it up there and kind of jams his face into it, all the better to root around. ] Thanks a lot! I don't know how you made this without, you know, fingers. Or without... setting it on fire. If that's even a problem for you. The grass looks okay and everything, but maybe it's just weird grass. [ Oh right, he had a point. ] It's still great, though! Love the craftsmanship.

[As for setting things on fire, well, fortunately his flames only look dangerous. They can't burn anything, but Bolin or Pabu would probably have to be brave enough to touch the bird or just notice that the deck isn't bursting into flames wherever he's touching it.]

We're going full Disney Princess and there's no turning back. Pretty sure that everybody ever talks to animals like there's a full conversation going on over here. ]
So, you an island native? You don't really seem to mesh, but what do I know, right? I'm not exactly a big "world traveler" or anything. Which changed when I got kidnapped, I guess. [ That's sort of a bright side. ]

Leanne shifts into her pure white heron form to make it easier to follow him and what is that animal with him. She flies to a few trees forward in order to watch him come towards her. Hnnnnnn, maybe when he passes by her current tree she is in, she can hang down to sniff him a little. Cause seriously what? Who are you and why are you in her forest if you are not a Spade?]
[ Wow, talk about this island's crazy-looking birds. They're just... birds. Like that's it.
Kidnapped by an evil ghost pirate and destined to be chased by the Navy or not, this whole 'sudden adventure' thing has been pretty cool. When she hangs down to start sniffing, Pabu will head for higher ground (or higher head) to rise to his hind legs and sniff in kind. Bolin's pretty content to stick to curious frowning on his part. ]
Man. How many animals am I not gonna recognize on this island?
[Whoa! Hey there! Oh, that little thing is cute and she giggles at Pabu. She stops her sniffing and straightens herself up before shifting back into her humanoid form, moving in to try and perch on Bolin's shoulder.]
[ And an obligatory PARDON ME, ARE YOU AWARE YOU'VE TURNED INTO A YOUNG WOMAN gasp. I... won't say it sounds really manly. On the other hand, he doesn't make any moves to discourage the perching.
[ But he can do this! Full recovery mode, engaging.
Open-mouth staring for a few seconds, and then recovery mode. Yeah. Okay. He's got it. ]
Nnno, I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. No offense! You did just sort of turn from a bird into a girl, though, and that kind of kicks up the unusual factor. A lot. More than I was expecting.
[Naga manages to find Bolin before Korra does. Whatever Bolin's doing, wherever he's doing it, he's about to get pounced by a very excited polar bear-dog.
...Who is probably a lot smaller than he remembers. Cub-sized, really. She's been like that since she and her best friend first arrived here. Here, have some attempted tackling and licks to the face, Bolin.]
What really registers at first is the white fur and the fact that he's being bodily had at, which is kind of a typical Tuesday, if unexpected. Bolin goes in for the "WHOAAA, NAGA" purely on instinct, and then it kind of wilts and dies mid-"whoa" and he uncurls from his protective polar bear-dog braced position. Because, yeah. She's kind of a lot smaller than... he remembers... so it's less of a bowling over and more of a thump against his shin.
Huh. Anticlimactic.
But he'd know that breath anywhere. ]
Whoa. Naga? [ Flower crown and all, he crouches down to get a closer look. And so Pabu has less of a jump on his epic quest to reunite with his costar (it's possible Bolin just lost his BFF for the rest of the day now). Annnnd also so he can hug her. Because it's a polar bear-dog! Who seems to be... the same one that always slobbers on him in the most affectionate of ways? Maybe? Either way, the fact that she stands out so much from the other animals on this island makes her a welcome familiarity. Who doesn't hug an excited fluffy friend in this day and age? ] Uhh, I don't know if you've noticed, but you've got a serious size issue happening right now, girl. Unless you're not, you know. That Naga. Or you're the next generation of Nagas? I like to think I'd be one of the first people to know if she was due for cubs, though. We've got a bond. Distant relation?
[ He is pretty sure she and Pabu don't even care about these complex circumstances. ]
[The "tiny" bear-dog does indeed react to her name with her tail wagging and a small 'yip'. Bolin has always been her favorite, and of course Pabu is her partner in crime.
Korra finally comes around, trotting after Naga and having a pretty good idea as to why she took off. Sure enough, there's Bolin.]

[She picks up the pace and launches herself for a hug... rather similarly to Naga, actually.]
[ Like tamer, like polar bear-dog. Bolin really doesn't mind. This day really just gets better and better. Which is great, even though it could really only go up from yesterday morning anyway. ]
Korra! [ LET'S DO THIS, KORRA, LET'S HUG THIS OUT. Poor Avatar, weighed and slowed with the guilt of her criminal life, last to the scene... still the best hugger between herself, Mako, and Asami. He's pretty sure it's the earthbender in her. ] Well, imagine running into you out here.
Bolin comes complete with all the accessories: Pabu, a journal, a smallish rucksack that he shoved his coat into once he got out of the rain, and a crate of energy drinks that Ace asked him to pick up. Most of these accessories, he just kind of immediately leaves sitting by the wheel, because Mako gets 100% priority, thank you very much. Pabu takes advantage of the moment to hop from one set of shoulders to another, where he will immediately go for the face lick. Sorry, bro, them's the breaks. Surrounded by all that familial affection. ]
[Pabu, he’s used to. Face licks are the price he pays without complaint if it means having a furry family member. Once Mako has that physical reassurance his brother’s really there, his eyes fall to the energy drinks.]
Wh- [You know what:] I don’t want to know.
[He points at the Naviraimant.] That is nothing like the spirit portals. No spirits of darkness this time around. [Mako hopes so anyway. Don't quote him.]
We’re getting supplies at this island, Serenes. I could use your help getting some roots.
[ He was totally gonna explain that, probably. But he's also down with not having to explain it, so he just sort of raises his eyebrows and shrugs. Super important crew member stuff, obviously. What can ya do? ]
I did notice a refreshing lack of screaming terrors and evil Water Tribe chiefs. [ It's too late, he's gonna quote. Dark spirits, man. Eesh. ] And since we're lacking terrors, I'm completely on board for getting some roots! For whatever they're... gonna be for. I need to get some good traveling earth anyway, so that seems like the kind of thing that mixes well with digging around. Couldn't go better together if we wanted 'em to.
[ He's so pumped for piracy and adventure right now, bro. Prepare for a future of excitement and impervious optimism. ]
[Thatch is around the perimeter of the island on the sand since the damn place makes him itch when he spots... Wait that's not Mako... Is it? Thatch is just going to stare at you from a short distance while you play with your ferret. Just who the hell are you?]
[ He's been stared at by some unusual people in his time. Actually, maybe it's more that he's been on the receiving end of unusual stares often enough. Bolin has a way of not shutting his mouth, and it leads to these sorts of things.
Today, at least, he kind of knows what's up. And from what he sees, that guy's hair is super slick. There is 100% no reason not to talk to a guy with hair that slick. Unless they're well known gangsters of Republic City. But that doesn't apply here. Maybe that guy's a friendly beach hobo... So Bolin lets Pabu clear one more jump, sinks his earth disc back into the ground with a little stomp, and begins his daring approach.
His walking directly towards some weird dude on the beach because his hair's pretty cool approach. Also, he waves. ]
[ He shrugs. ] Hey, sometimes you have to cover all your options. [ Because one never truly knows with beach hobos. Or... Water Tribe twins.
The mention of Mako immediately and visibly pokes him right in the attention span, though. Man, look at his big bro go, making acquaintances everywhere. ] And that's right! We're brothers. Grew up together and stuff, you know. It's so nice to hear there's a family resemblance. I'm Bolin.

[Ace sat backwards in a chair, staring at Pabu as he ate a large hunk of grilled kraken tentacle.
He liked Pabu, but he was terrible at showing it. Also, given that the island was bringing out Ace's irritable side, it looked more like he was sizing up an enemy.]
[ Someone said food, and Bolin was totally there. Down with the kraken and not even questioning it. Growing up on the streets had its benefits like that: once someone had learned to love street gruel, there was no turning back. But then there was Captain Ace of the very impressive hats to consider... apparently.
Not that he wasn't considering him before, per se. It was just in less of a Pabu capacity. Bolin spent a long few seconds looking back and forth between Ace and Pabu, with Ace staring Pabu down and Pabu sitting there staring back at Ace-- and man, what a weirdly tense situation. Then he effectively mentally shrugged it off and started talking. Talking generally improved things, except for whenever it didn't. ]
Soooo. Do you guys have some kind of history I don't know about?
[Bolin, handling the situation as astutely as possible, distracted Ace from his weird irritation and pulled away his aggression with ease. Confused as to what he was alluding, Ace blinked rapidly in Bolin's direction and raised his head, his expression changing immediately.
