[For the first day, Ikki will remain on the ship and in his room whenever there's not something that needs to be done. For those who can sense energies, haki, spiritual energies or however they are called, it'll be easy to notice that something isn't right with him. While it's true that he has been quite reclusive lately, for some reason today he seems to emanate aggressiveness. And he does so loud enough for it to be felt all over the ship.]
April 12th&13th
[After spending most of the 11th with Marco, Ikki is finally out and around. But don't let that fool you, this phoenix isn't joining the ranks of flower crown weavers, in fact the aggressive aura from the first day is still there and even seems to get worse with each passing day.
He hates this place way too much. It's aura and how it tries to affect him, to force him to bow to it.
He wants nothing but burn everything and kill every cute little animal in his way. But he can't. He won't. Not when there's too many people who are busy being all "yay, yay, happy" with this place, not realizing that they are being played with like always, that just because this time it doesn't make them kill each other it doesn't make it any more right. This peace, this serenity is forced on them, not real. And Ikki despises it.
But Marco made a promise and he's going to cling to it and fulfill his part of the deal. So he shuts up and endures it. But no one said that he had to feign to like it. His trips around the island will be focused on getting supplies or whatever may be useful even if he is hesitant to trust anything that comes from here.
Even at night he will be found around wandering for he's not sleeping at all those days, he's not even eating. But he's just too busy fighting off this place's effects to worry about that.]
*Selphie, on the other hand, seems to have been flourishing in this place. The peace has been welcome, and the way it has been able to soothe her, make her think more kindly of herself. Even Marco has noted that he hasn't seen her smile like this in a long time.
Today is no different as Selphie wanders the forest, playing and singing and talking to the animals. She has somehow gotten herself caught up in a game of chase, running away a small group of rabbits and squirrels. They kept running and running, but this time they were running in a beeline for Ikki. Selphie soon burst out after them from behind a copse of trees, giggling away. Then she realised they had stopped. The animals took one look at Ikki, sensed how he felt, and rushed off to safety.
Selphie meanwhile was left standing, flushed from all the running and, though she didn't look as happy as she did a moment ago, she was still smiling at Ikki from just a short distance away from him*
[It may be one of the things, if not the only one, he's grateful for in this island. Animals, as less intelligent as they could be compared to humans, always proved a superior intelligence when it came to danger and to knowing where not to go or with whom not to mess with. He barely had to cast the pests a glance for them to rush off to safety, even if they weren't really in danger.
He will fulfill his part of the deal. He won't harm anything on this island. No matter how better that would make he feel, to wound this place the way it's wounding him with all it's purity, holyness and good intentions.
If only humans had half the brain animals did, then he wouldn't have Selphie standing there greeting him. He looks at her, wearing an expression he has wore before many times, though it used to be directed only to a goddess. Apathy. Total apathy on the front, lack of interested behind it and in the back of the room anger and disgust.]
Hello. Were you playing with the animals that just left?
*Far be it for Selphie to think that he'd actually give her a smile in return. But the complete lack of any feeling in his expression discomforts her, and she holds her hands near her stomach, twisting them together. Her smile has faltered somewhat, though it's still vaguely there, while her mind whirls through all sorts of thoughts and feelings*
Yes, I was. The animals are very peaceful here, and very friendly.
*She realises that she probably sounds somewhat formal here with this stilted conversation, her eyes flitting up to a nearby tree where a pair of small birds seems to be watching them*
Everything here is. The island makes it be so, though I'm sure you already know and feel that.
[Marco had said that she was happier there, though Ikki's hardly surprised to see that happiness falters when in his presence. It's how their interactions went, even when he didn't do anything it would end ripping away whatever joy and happiness she was feeling.
Before it mattered to him and worried him. Now? Not so much.
He warned her several times before their brief time together. He warned her even while being together. He's not going to bother with warnings anymore, she should know better and if she doesn't. It's her damn problem, just like it was Athena's problem when she tried to step beyond her boundaries with him.]
Seems like this place is good for several people in the crew and not just Leanne and Naesala.
[It's also bad for several of them, of course. But he sincerely doubts any of the ones who can only feel the healing effect and give in to it without resistance would even care or understand.]
Though..I'm sorry if you're uncomfortable, or unhappy here... At least we're only here for a few days.
*She's had a long and emotional talk with Marco, after all. Because despite everything, Selphie still doesn't want him to be miserable. Still, she wonders if perhaps he has so muvh negativity towards her, he might be redirecting that from himself.
There was definitely a time when Ikki made Selphie happy just by being close by, but standing looking at him now, their more recent conversations are all that are running through her head. She takes a deep breath, and the aura of the forest calms her, so she is no longer wringing her hands, but standing more naturally*
Hmm. I think they're both very happy here, together. But you're right, I think lots of us are enjoying some quiet and relaxation.
[Fake quiet and relaxation. Born from an aura that invades their minds as much as that witch had invaded them before. But people were always like that, so long as it didn't make them do "bad" things or things they would regret later? They didn't really care if they were manipulated and toyed with. Because if something was pure and holy then it had to be good.]
Yeah, lots of you are.
[A pause.]
You should do your best to enjoy yourself here and take the most of it. As you say, it's only for a few days.
[Kairi was only dead for a few days as well. And so did Sora. And Selphie was only for a few days in that cell... So long as it was only for "a few days" then no complain could be raised, could it?
He sighs, closing his eyes, blocking Selphie, but mostly the forest -honestly it's the forest what bothers him the most at the moment, even if he has nothing good for her now- from his sight. Uncomfortable or unhappy, she had said. She didn't even know half of it, though probably she was sure she did, he assumes that came from her time with Marco and that like many she got to see only part of the problem at most. He has no intention on instructing her though, or anyone else for that matter, he lacks the patience for it.]
*Whether it's fake or otherwise, Selphie welcomes the short respite, and to have some peace of mind*
I am but - oh, well, y'know, I mean, that's only a few days, instead of like, a couple of weeks.
*After all, she was a few days with the navy when she'd been kidnapped, but she'd been two whole weeks in that cell after her death. So while being a few days somewhere that is torture isn't ideal, Selphie knows that it's better than...well, it being worse*
Marco said he didn't wanna just hide out on the ship, though... But I guess it's the most comfortable place for you guys. I don't know. Maybe.
*Because try as she might to figure out the phoenix thing, they both kno that she's got it very wrong before in the past. She watches him sigh, eyes closed, and isn't really sure what to do. Maybe he's just trying to wish her away*
Okay...Then. You must be busy, or something so... I should go...wander around or...do something.
The most comfortable place for us? Or for you guys so you don't have to meet us around here not joining in the peace and order this wonderful place gives?
[Despite the wounding words, his tone remains the same, honestly, he doesn't care enough about what she thinks or wants to be actually bothered by her. Besides...]
Don't worry, I know that wasn't what you meant.
[It's the island, that whole peaceful and holy aura that is all sunshine and rainbows until it meets resistance. And then it starts to whispers about the peace that can be found in death, pushing away what it doesn't accept and which doesn't accept its rule. It's not an evil thing, but it's not good either. And it's logical that it would make the others say that, even if they don't realize because for them it's just logical: Don't like the island? Don't be on the island. Get out and away, you're not wanted here.]
Most of the animals scattered in that direction. But if you prefer human company some of the others are over there.
[He gestures in both directions, one after the other, not bothering to open his eyes yet. So after all, she didn't have any particular reason to talk to him? Sometimes Athena did the same and it made him wonder why they even bother with it.]
*Perhaps she had forgotten that way he had of taking everything she said and making it sound as though she cold hearted or inconsiderate*
Oh course that's not what I meant. If I feel at all uncomfortable right now.. it isn't anything to do with that.
*She thought she had been being reasonable, or at least civil enough. They probably both know she would likely not be so calm if they were having this conversation elsewhere. But even then, his tone stings and he won't even look at her.
So he closes the gap between them, since his eyes are closed, and she stands right in front of him. She's not sure what to say, she just knows that she's frustrated at him for treating her this way, and when she speaks her voice is quiet, trembling slightly*
Even the animals are courteous enough to look at me, instead of trying to wish me away.
[One should always be careful of what they wish for, or what they demand for.
He senses her moving, knows where she's going, he doesn't need his eyes to see her. Just as he didn't need to be right besides her to know what she was up to. But she never understood that. Or maybe she just didn't care and that's why she had often talked and talked as if he couldn't hear her, couldn't know what she was saying, simply because she didn't see him around. It's the reference to the animals which makes him react, anywhere else, maybe, just maybe, he would have had more control over himself. Here however, he's way too close to the boiling point. But she doesn't see it, doesn't care.
Uncomfortable and unhappy? She had no idea what she was talking about.
He stands up in less than a second and with him raises a wave a Cosmo that slams at all around him. It's only because of him remembering his talk with Marco that there's not a hell of flames all around them by now. He looks at her, just as she wants and demands, ironically, despite his anger and flaming aura when he looks at her there's more coldness than anything else. There's anger, carved there as if it was carved on stone, permanent and eternal, running way too deep to be covered or forgotten. But there's no actual hate, just... Indifference. As if the person in front of him only mattered to him as much as something he has a duty with would.]
Let's make something clear, woman.
[He calls her a woman, but the way he says it makes it sound as if he doesn't see her as one. Because she isn't. She's just a kid, another wannabe-princess brat that considers herself entitled to own someone else and entitled to have their respect even if she has done nothing to earn it.]
I am not an animal. Even if a phoenix can be considered a type of bird, it's definitively not an animal. And it's not something that you could ever keep as a pet.
And I don't care how many talks you have with Marco or how much you twist that childish brain that you have to try to think of it, you will never know anything about phoenixes or about me.
[He starts to walk, his step heavy and with each one another wave of oppressing-close-to-explode Cosmos is sent.]
I don't need to use my eyes to see you, I don't need to be near you to know what you're up to, with whom you're. I don't owe you any respect, and the only care and attention that I have to give to you, is the same I have to give to anything that the captain cares for.
[If it wasn't because of his loyalty to Ace... He would care more about the ships than her, but he can't do that so if she's ever in trouble, he will help, he will protect her if he has to and save her if no one else can. But that's all. She means nothing to him now, she's just another part of his duties here and he's not going to indulge in her more than he has to.]
This is your last warning. Unless you have something specific to talk to me about regarding the crew or a mission, don't bother me. Go play with the animals or go play the role of the victimized princess of your own tale as much as you want until your loyal knight comes to save you. Do whatever you want. But whatever you do, do it away from me or I will destroy you in such a way that not even Davy Jones will be able to find a trace of you to put you together again.
[Of course, it's an empty threat, even if part of him would want to, especially now in this island, she's part of the crew and he has to protect her. But he has no intention of telling her that and would prefer that she would just get the idea that he would kill her, so she never comes to think that he still cares about her in any way.
He continues walking, going around her as if she wasn't there, as if he hadn't just been talking to her and enters further into the forest, in search of Marco. It's all he can do if he wants to avoid exploding and burning the whole place. If there's a next time and she chooses to be stupid again and talk to him with no important purpose, he will just ignore her and leave.]
*Selphie visibly flinches when he calls her 'woman' like that. No one has ever called her that, in such a tone of voice, but it feels horrible. She can't help but stare at him after that, waiting for what he has to say. But there he goes again, bending her words, making her seem like some kind of cruel, cold-hearted bitch. Then he calls her childish, continues to explain how he just doesn't care. Selphie takes a few steps back then, doing her best not to break his glare, doing her best to try and stand up for herself.
She takes a deep breath as he begins to walk away, her mind reeling with her options. A part of her wants to cry, at the frustration at being treated this way, and how little he really does care, and at the nasty way he has spoken to her. But something inside her snaps. She doesn't have to worry about any other feelings that she has for him anymore. There's not a relationship here that she's desperately trying to maintain. This is, as he's said, nothing, and he makes it perfectly clear just how much he wants rid of her. But that's not fair*
No.
*That's all she says at first, but as he moves past her side, she turns and shoves her fist against his shoulder, giving him a violent push. It's almost a punch, if not the strongest one she can manage*
You don't get to boss me around, Ikki. You don't get to tell me what to do. If you want rid of me that much, then stop trying to "see me" without being near me. Who do you care who I spend my time with anyway? That is none of your concern.
I tried to have a conversation with you. I tried to be friendly. And what I get is this. You don't get to push me around, Ikki, treat me like shit, and then give me warnings. I don't know what the hell you think you are, but you do NOT have power over me.
[He hears the first word, and recognizes the tune that tends to follow it. It's the same tune Saori would give him, even if Selphie adds a physical aspect to it that the other wouldn't.
It doesn't really matter. He has no interest in whatever she wants to say or however she wants to bend his own words to feel more special or play the role of the victim even more.
So instead of listening, or stopping, he continues moving and focuses in finding Marco. Her words become little more than a buzzing sound and as soon as he finds Marco, Ikki leaves in a flash of light and a loud banging sound, moving at top speed before she even finishes. As if she wasn't there, as if there was nothing that held his interest there, because that's exactly what he thinks.]
[They made up their minds and they started packing.] [They left before the sun came up that day.] [An exit to eternal summer slacking.] [But where were they going without ever knowing the way?]
[As long as he doesn't try to put a flower crown on his head, Ikki's perfectly fine with a phoenix crown. He reaches up to pet the other a bit.]
It's funny how not even at night this place shuts up.
[The living sounds are different during the day and the night, but they are still there and equally loud. Just as the island's aura, refusing to give them even a moment of rest.]
Songs have never been my thing, so don't ask me. Unless you want me to sing you the lullabies I used to sing Shun when he was a baby.
[It has been a long time since he sang, though, and while he remembers the lyrics, he probably would suck at them. Though he could whistle them maybe.]
Don't tell them about the song or about Marco being scared of thunders?
[There's a soft laugh though it lacks traces of mockery or even actual humor, it's hard to bring that forth in this place. He listens, again raising a hand to pet the bird on his head.
Songs sung by a parent in order to soothe their childrens' fears. Probably his mother sang them to him as well, it's the only way he can think to explain why he would know any lullabies to begin with. But the truth is he can't remember her singing even once, it's not a surprise though, he can't really remember having anyone taking care of him besides Esmeralda during his training, but even while she helped him to recover and was a balm to his soul, she wasn't as soothing as he assumes parents were. It's something he can't even begin to imagine, what Marco felt or thought when his father took the time to calm his fears and sang that to him.]
You know, from what you've told me about him, that kind of song really seems to fit him.
[Or stand guard or something. Not that it would be needed or that Marco would admit to it, most probably. Ikki certainly doesn't count on it, he's an older brother. A phoenix older brother. Admitting weakness isn't something easy for them and being scared is a weakness as far as he can see.]
Would you want him to come here? Ever think of that?
[It's true that Marco would have a very tough time admitting it, but he still might ask Ikki to sing all the same. Because no matter what Ikki says, Marco's one hundred percent decided that Ikki is a little brother and he'd equally determined not to let him forget it.]
Every damn day.
I know I'm spoiled. I got to spend the most time with him of all my family. I didn't even go hunt Blackbeard alone to get vengeance for Thatch because I didn't want to leave Pops, Ace did it instead. I was with Pops every step of the way, and it still never feels like enough time for me.
But even beyond my own selfishness, if he was here for Ace, Thatch, Namur, you, Leanne, and the others that would be enough for me. Ace is strong and carrying on his own, but because he left us early he got the least amount of time with Pops, and Akainu trapped him by insulting Pops. With Ace's temper, Ace couldn't let it slide.... so I know he misses him a lot more than he'll ever show.
I'm their big brother, aye, but I'll never be Pops.
You're not spoiled, don't say that. You know that even if he had been able to live a thousand of years, at the end it would still not feel like enough time.
[Unless Whitebeard was a phoenix as well at the very least. That much, not feeling that it was enough time, is something he can understand even if he has no one for whom he has such loyalty. His brothers, maybe, but he has done a good job in raising a wall between them and himself so it's logical that it will never feel like it was enough time for him.]
I don't need to have some old man around, even if he is your father. But I take your brothers would need him.
[He doesn't need a father, maybe in the past, but now he's way to old for that anyway.]
And I don't think he or the others would want you to be him anyway. Who would make everyone flower crowns then?
Maybe you would still, but that would make it hard to see you as a father figure you know.
[There's no chuckle to accompany the words, but the attempt to teasing humor is there at least. It's not much, but with Marco around he can at least do that.]
[He feels an eyebrow twitch at Marco's words. Adding another son?]
It's then a good thing that he wouldn't get to do so even if he came here.
[The frown increases with the next question, not out of annoyance but of confusion, mostly. What he wants to do? Is there such a thing?]
Follow Ace and you to whatever end there is, I suppose. I've never really considered wanting to do something other than protect my brothers even back home. I've nothing there, and there's even less here unless it's you two and the crew.
[Though admittedly it's mostly Ace and Marco. And Thatch and Namur by extension, everyone else, could be changed by anyone as far as he cares.]

12th
It doesn't really matter. He has no interest in whatever she wants to say or however she wants to bend his own words to feel more special or play the role of the victim even more.
So instead of listening, or stopping, he continues moving and focuses in finding Marco. Her words become little more than a buzzing sound and as soon as he finds Marco, Ikki leaves in a flash of light and a loud banging sound, moving at top speed before she even finishes. As if she wasn't there, as if there was nothing that held his interest there, because that's exactly what he thinks.]
Night of the 12th
[They made up their minds and they started packing.]
[They left before the sun came up that day.]
[An exit to eternal summer slacking.]
[But where were they going without ever knowing the way?]
Night of the 12th
It's funny how not even at night this place shuts up.
[The living sounds are different during the day and the night, but they are still there and equally loud. Just as the island's aura, refusing to give them even a moment of rest.]

[Marco shivers a bit. The life of the forest is oppressively loud. Everything breathing, trees and plants, birds and animals, back and forth.]
Thatch and I sing when it gets bad, but I can't think of anything for once.
no subject
[It has been a long time since he sang, though, and while he remembers the lyrics, he probably would suck at them. Though he could whistle them maybe.]
no subject
He sang this in thunderstorms sometimes when I was scared.
Don't tell the others.
[Have some more phoenix singing.]

You know, from what you've told me about him, that kind of song really seems to fit him.
no subject
He used to sing me this one too.
[Sings this a bit more mournfully.]
no subject
[Or stand guard or something. Not that it would be needed or that Marco would admit to it, most probably. Ikki certainly doesn't count on it, he's an older brother. A phoenix older brother. Admitting weakness isn't something easy for them and being scared is a weakness as far as he can see.]
Would you want him to come here? Ever think of that?
no subject

It's not much, but with Marco around he can at least do that.]
no subject
[He doesn't completely laugh, but he wiggles his feet in amusement.]
I am the weaver of crowns, yoi.
Even if you say you don't need him, I think you would benefit just as much. Besides, he'd probably die of joy at adding another good fire phoenix son.
Ikki, what is it you want to do in this world?
no subject
It's then a good thing that he wouldn't get to do so even if he came here.
[The frown increases with the next question, not out of annoyance but of confusion, mostly. What he wants to do? Is there such a thing?]
Follow Ace and you to whatever end there is, I suppose. I've never really considered wanting to do something other than protect my brothers even back home. I've nothing there, and there's even less here unless it's you two and the crew.
[Though admittedly it's mostly Ace and Marco. And Thatch and Namur by extension, everyone else, could be changed by anyone as far as he cares.]
