Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

OTA - Early Evening

Faye was taking part in some spying, or rather, some very open information gathering. Her outfit for the evening is rather daringly low cut black evening gown. It's full length, but a long slit runs up the side to her thigh, which is perfect for crossing her legs at the table she was sitting at. It didn't take long before Faye was surrounded by eager Navy gentlemen. She smiled at them all in turn, and knew how to charm each enough that they all thought they were the special man she had her eye on. No such luck.

Faye discussed Navy plans with them, found out the places on the ship where treasure had been stashed, including jewellery she was offered. But while Faye discussed, she also had in her hands a pack of cards, a small pile of coins in front of her. Looked like a gambling game, but it was working in her favour. Anyone walking past might want to come and take a seat, either just to look at her, to talk to her, or, more usefully, to overhear all the information she is so easily conjuring from the Navy men.

Someones been watching you, Faye. Just for a little bit Logan, dressed and cleaned up nice, cream whites, dark bluish black coat and gold trim, a matching mask. God, he even took to a shave and a hair cut, insisted upon by that tall idiot Thatch.

He's been wandering though, spying a bit himself, if you call it that. He'd ran into a woman who had her own small command of a few ships (it was ab it impressive) and a young man who'd already drank too much and was talking about the pretty girl he was talking to before. That was when he got view of her. A table of men around.

Heh. So he watched for a bit, spying. Slowly walking around the room and mingling (a bit bored) and... slowly came up to lean on the pillar behind her, watching her as she snows the group of them. Good to know what type of woman she really is, though he had his suspicions already.

After the last one left for what ever reason, he came to stand near her, taking a sip form a champagne flute, and glancing down at her (and that is impressive cleavage). "Enjoying yourself, miss?"

Faye had been aware of someone watching from behind her but then, she had been surrounded most of the evening so far. Finally having a table to herself, she was drawing together a considerable pile of coins and slipping them into a small black pouch. She smirked as she turned to look up at Logan, "I am indeed. I've been kept good company, it makes me feel so popular."

"Dressed like that? I'm surprised you don't have a longer line of sad Navy men hanging around." He said and yes, there was a bit of a grin from under his mask. Women and scraps of clothing? Not going to complain. "That good company walks off and leaves behind a bit of gold too, huh?"

"Oh, they were here. Some are fetching me something to drink, others have been sat here so long they needed to go to the bathroom, and some, I think, are double checking that there are indeed priceless jewels hidden on the ship." Faye looked at the little coin pouch in front of her and shrugged her bare shoulders, "I won this fair and square. You'd think these men had never seen a clever woman in all their lives." She slowly stood from her seat, putting her purse into a hidden pocket inside a white fur shawl, "Why? Don't you like my outfit this evening?"

He snorted softly, glancing off at the crowd as she talked about them doing things for her. So this is the type of woman she was. Trouble. Good to know. "Most of these boys are wet behind the ear and dick. The only clever woman they've seen are commanding officers willing to break their hands." He took a sip of his drink and... ended up looking back down to her and that damn dress. "Oh no, it's a damn good view. Well chosen."

"They are, but bless them, if they want to offer me diamonds and pearls, what kind of a person would I be to turn them down?" All just innocence and kindness, this one. Yup. "Well, thank you very much. A lady should know how to dress for effect." She lifted a hand and placed it lightly in the centre of his chest, "I like this, too. Well chosen, as you say."

"Life must be hard for you, having to take on the burden of good looks and pockets full of pearls." A flat tease at her comment. So kind. Very lady. But the comment about dressing for effect, and then the touch to his chest made him chuckle. He reached up to place his hand on hers, before 'kindly' saying. "Don't get used to it. As soon as this bash is over it's back to jeans for me."

"Logan, you shouldn't underestimate just how difficult it really is. Men can be tricky creatures to deal with, and not always pleasant." Faye did look pleased to hear a chuckle from him, smiling when he put his hand on hers, "You won't even keep the jacket? Might even work with the jeans."

"Oh, I don't doubt it. I recall how hard you had to work to get a cigar last night." He's being charming, it's kind of gross. The last time he was like this was... Jean. Not even Mariko, but way back to Jean. It's this place, the freedom of living like a pirate maybe. He likes it and it shows.

"Hmm... maybe." He glanced off at a pair of officers with the large white Navy coats, before smiling back down at her. "Or I might end up with a better coat, before the end of the evening." A wink at that.

"You were a tricky customer last night, Logan. I haven't had to work so hard in a while. At least, without being held at gun point." Faye, at least, doesn't seem to think that all this charm is such a bad thing. It would amuse her to know he isn't like this with all women all the time.

Faye turned to look at the officers too and chuckled softly, shaking her head slightly when she looked back at Logan, "Oh - that one I spoke to earlier. If you don't get your hands on one later, I'll get him out of that coat in a second." Faye smiled wider at that wink, because she was only teasing with what she said. She had no doubt Logan could run off and fetch a coat on his own.

"Good to know I stand out form these others roobs." Making her work for things, unlike the puppy dog Navy boys who seem to be willingly giving up gold to this woman. His was at least just a cigar. And no, he's not like this with most women, just the bad for him ones it seems. He has some ridiculous radar that makes him stupid, clearly.

A glance at her, brow raised. "I'll keep that in mind." He was amused though, and had no doubt that she could pull the 'i'm cold' routine on that guy. "But I should be fine."

"Or perhaps men value cigars more than I thought..." Faye touched the side of her hair and cast another look around the room. "But, in the end, I still got exactly what I wanted." There was a sly smile on her face, but she only glanced at him briefly.

"I'm sure you will be. You seem like a capable man." Though, of course, Faye had no idea of just how capable he was. "Meanwhile, I'll focus on the girly jewellery, hmm?"

"Nice dress," Akira said, looking like he was sipping casually from a glass of wine as he spoke to her, "Think you could have cut it any lower? You'd better hope you don't catch anything on some guy's cuff-link, or there's gonna' be a wardrobe issue. Hear anything useful?"

"Akira, why would you say these things? I've had nothing but glowing compliments all evening." But she grinned at him, only teasing and far from being annoyed.

[alwaysgrumpy]

"Someone has to keep you anchored, so your inflated ego doesn't pull you into the ceiling," he snorted, trying to focus his hearing, "This party would happen when the moon is just at a sliver. My hearing is a little dodgy, now. Hope you're havin' good luck."

"Well, I appreciate the kindness you're doing me. "The moon can make you deaf? Or is your hearing just not as good as you like. And I'm having plenty of luck." She nodded towards the small pile of coins she has amassed.

"It's a werewolf thing. My level of ability waxes and wanes along with the lunar phase. In a day or two I'll be pretty much human."

"Aww, that's a pity. You'll have to be boring like the rest of us." She raised a brow towards his glass of wine, "But looks like you're making a good start. You'll be grabbing a girl to go dancing with next."

[alwaysgrumpy]

"You wish. The alcohol doesn't affect me right now. It would take a hell of a lot more than this, I wager. Even if I am somewhat diminished," he said, turning his head slightly to get a better bead on a distant conversation, "Man, these guys can blather on."

Faye motioned to her other side, where a collection of full glasses of champagne are lined up. "There's plenty of alcohol to keep you going if you're interested." She'd had a fair few drinks from admirers after all. "Mhm, they're rather chatty." Here she turned to give a Navy officer a small smile and waved back. "It'll be useful though, I hope."

"I think I'll just continue nursing this one. I've seen enough people make fools of themselves with alcohol flowing."

"A good idea too, considering events that might take place later this evening."

[alwaysgrumpy]

"Might is the operative word. I have no idea WHAT will happen, but I know it'll be something bad. Something could probably bite us all in the ass. I suggest you and your crew have a quick exit strategy in place."

Faye grinned and shook her head slowly, "For starters you might want to keep your voice down. We're all here to have a pleasant evening, remember? And you needn't worry about my crew, or me."
