Masquerade Ball - Totally not an ambush

Who: Anyone going to the Corsair Island Masquerade Ball!
Where: ...IDK?
When: April 26th - 27th (Early AM)
What: The Masquerade Ball + Ambush (12am)
Warnings: D for dancing, V for violence, A for Ace, L for Luffy

There are going to be two main threads. One for the ball itself and the other for the Ambush! There will be an obligatory third thread for FASHION. Just remember to tag your muse in the subject header and OTA or 'Closed to ???' as you comment.

[Dancing! Ace could be spotted all over the dance floor, dancing with a number of the party's lady party-goers. He wouldn't dance with anyone for too long and while he left a string of seemingly disappointed partners, he didn't get denied even once when he asked for one.

Astoundingly? Despite the fact that he was a massive brute, his dancing was classic, composed and completely perfect. He had a lot of practice in his history.]

[spots him from a distance and hides sort of behind a chair, digging in his nose produces a great green booger, dry enough to shape, but wet enough to stick, focuses and flick. Aiming for the back of his neck]

[Ace gave Luffy a duckface as he turned and dipped--the booger smacking dab on the cheek of a poor unfortunate man left exposed in that gesture.]

[Crap! He wasn't defeated yet! snort He lined up another booger and then a second one just in case and flicked them both]

[Crap. That was tough. In haste, Ace pulled the young lady he was dancing with up and spun her at arm's length, keeping that second booger from hitting her as he leaned back to avoid the first one. He spun, pulled her back and caught her.

In the line of fire, the poor man who was hit with the first volley was just then noticing what on Earth happened. His date screamed as the first of Luffy's second volley went straight in her hair and forehead. She could just feel it. Her date, reaching over to try and get at it, was struck just under the eye with the last booger.

Ace choked.]

[covers his mouth to hide his laugh. It was tons more fun this way. He dug in his nose until he got enough for a fairly big booger and flicked it hard, aiming for the floor so it would bounce up]

[Ace cursed. He wasn't expecting rubber boogers. Luffy had evolved in a really, really dumb way! He ended up leaning back, grabbing his lady partner's ankle and lifting her up a bit to avoid the booger. It smacked with into the poor guy's face behind them, warranting a scream from him.

The lady he was danced with, affronted by being manhandled like a turkey, reared back and slapped Ace before storming off.]

[blinks at that and comes over to Ace]

Did you touch her butt? [or worse] Were you gonna try to taste her tongue?

[Ace was a second away from complaining about the woman until Luffy said something to him that was downright terrifying. Immediately, Ace set both hands on Luffy's shoulders.]

...Oi, Luffy. Never, ever do those things to a woman without asking. And, no, I didn't do that.

Yeah I know. [he's not dumb.] What did you do? It must have been pretty bad!

[This lady is watching Ace across the way. She seems to be trying to catch his eye, or perhaps merely enjoying his physique. It's difficult to say.]

[Hesitation. Ace probed, his observation flung at the lady whose attention drew on him. He could feel her eye on him, but returning the favor didn't give him much. Unlike the Navy spies he had tailed during the course of the party, he had no idea what to make of her.

Were he a more impure man, it would be viewed as a challenge, but Ace thought of one thing: If she was that good, he could probably learn something cool by talking to her. So, without rushing to it, he made his way across the dance hall, under claim that he was getting a drink. Finally finding the lady, he bowed and smiled. Wordlessly, in the middle of his bow, he kept his hand extended to let her know he'd like to dance.]

[she smiles, looking him slowly up and down, as if assessing his looks, before she takes the proffered hand.]

Has anyone ever told you that your freckles are charming, good sir?

[Ace's lip twitched. His one weakness. Fortunately, he wasn't looking up when he let that one slip and instead, raised himself up with his smile returned in full force. Instead, he sighed with an air of theatrics and made eye contact with less a mind to complain.]

More times than I'd prefer, admittedly. [He figured he could try and be smart, there.] I don't like being called charming.

[smile and canting her head to the side a little]

And what do you prefer to be called?

[Because this woman was completely off his radar, Ace felt it was a measure of his own personal goals to draw something out.]

That's easy. 'Ace' is just fine.

I must admit... I'm a little impressed. -That knavish idiot cleaned up nicely... Though she wasn't about to dance with him, even if he apparently knew what he was doing. At least not without some convincing.-

[He left his current partner with a bit of a bow. Smiling, Ace felt a new set of eyes on himself, turning to face Tojiko without so much as scanning the crowd, first. He didn't recognize her presence immediately, but she was familiar enough. Putting the face to the name would be difficult for a man so used to throwing himself in the middle of a million faces and voices all at once.]

Impressed? [He joked, reaching down to fix his gloves and tighten them on his fingers.] Isn't everybody supposed to do it like this?

For better or worse, you are most certainly not "everybody". -He's getting dangerously close to complimenting him.-

[He might have gotten her close, but there were still a dozen different ways for him to ruin it.]

You're paying me good compliments and we haven't even properly greeted each other. I'd mention you look beautiful if not for how rushed that would seem.

-A huff.- Heavy handed flattery... once a knave, always a knave.

[His smile turned a little more genuine and relaxed when he heard that word.]

I never wanted to be anything but. Real 'gentlemen' turn out to be useless men who rest on morals they didn't invent for themselves.

As it is, I'm having fun. How about you?

-There's a small chuckle on her part.- Real gentlemen aren't like that at all... But a real gentleman is one regardless of their class or rank, I've found. My date, for instance, young Link? Quite the real gentleman. He'll make a good husband to a lucky girl someday.

So yes. I'm actually having fun. -And dreading that Ace, honest to a fault as he was... was bound to get into trouble. But oh well. Best to enjoy the few moments of peace and familiarity she could while it lasted.-

See, your definition is something I wouldn't mind.

[Ace raised one hand, gesturing to the crowd.] On the other hand, we have the rest of the world.

But, I'll let you go. You waiting for that Link fella?
